I thought everything went well until I realized that they damaged my bumper. I called them and they refuse to take responsibility for what they have done! It all started well enough, but as we were riding down my street, the driver went flying over a speed bump. We flew over it and the car smashed down with a loud thud. The driver stopped to "double check on the car" and to "refasten it" and he didn't mention anything and I didn't think to get out and see if anything had happened. So after all is said and done, I take my car home and I parked, walked behind it and noticed that the bumper had been scrapped and tattered. I immediately contacted John's Towing. They gave me the run around. First John acted like it wasn't him that had driven, or that he wasn't the manager. Then he said he would call me back. Did they? No. I called back today and I got the response that "ma'm go do whatever you'd like, we aren't paying". I filed a police report, talked to my insurance company and will file a complaint with the ICC. This is completely unacceptable. if need be, I am taking this to small claims. I would not have been so mad about the whole situation, had I not spent 800 bucks two weeks ago getting brand new bumpers installed on the car. Then I lost the car key and it hadn't been driven the car at all until John's Towing came to pick the car up. So I know my bumpers were still unscathed and brand new until he wrecked it. I'm furious. My estimate for the damage is $600 bucks because they ended up scrapping and piercing the bumper. read more

I've unfortunately had to use a towing company twice this year. The first time i just googled a nearby place and called this place up. They are fast and reasonably priced. They guy who picked up my car was very personable and friendly. The second time I needed towing I called a different place first and was not satisfied with the estimated arrival time or cost of service. I called John's Towing abd they beat the price and estimated arrival time in half of the original place I called. I even got the same guy and he remembered me. That is great customer service! I called John's towing and they sent out Jack. I needed help with my dad's car and my dad was being VERY indecisive on the phone. Jack was incredibly patient with me and gave me all of my options (towing, jumping, etc). So we decided to jump the car and then I would drive it to the mechanic. Well..... the car stalled about 10 minutes later. I called Jack back and he immediately came back to help me. He made a super stressful situation more manageable! read more

Just awesome! John's towing was dispatched from the road side service after 4 other tow trucks companies came and couldn't get my car. After reading the other review about the receptionist being foul, I worried when road side told me who was coming now. After today's experience, that person who left that review was probably foul! Their receptionist had a heavy accent but was the sweetest person ever. She called me to verify the address and clarify the situation. She updated me in when to expect the truck and told me the driver would call me when he was 5 mins away. None of the other of companies did that. I told her the situation and that 4 others had tried either without success. My front axel was broken when my car was hit on the street last night. She told me not to worry and that they had been towing since 1988 and the owner himself is coming to get my car. He was an expert at getting car that others couldn't. He showed up faster than estimated. He made the car pick up look effortless! I was shocked how easily he managed to hook up the car. He explained what I needed to do next. I'm overjoyed to write a review for this gentleman. After Snowpacolypse 2015, I stupidly tried to take my Civic out of the garage and out of the alley. Yeah, got stuck numerous times and pretty much decided I had to call my roadside assistance. After the company told me it could be as long as a 3 hour wait - gasp!, John made it there in just a half hour. The poor guy had to back up through the alley and he himself got stuck a few times. But, he didn't complain or curse and finally, he got to my car, hitched it up, and took me out to the Promised Land ( Wilson Ave, which was plowed) I was grateful enough as it is, and then I found out the piddly pay insurance companies give for this work. Oy! John is a real trooper and a crafty driver. Thank goodness for him! read more

Terrible customer service. Got a tow to a dealership for a car that was completely immobile and it was dropped out in a lot at the far forty of the dealership by the tow truck driver. I called 20 minutes after the car was dropped off to have them move it into the service area and "who is going to pay for that?" Was first words out of their mouth. It's a work truck and I'm losing $200 an hour. WTF. read more

Maybe she was having a bad day. I called to check the status of a tow and the lady that answered with a very curt "no we didn't pick up your car" and began to rudely rattle off information she was missing. I told her the info was already given to my insurance co. and she replied "well you need to call them back". I called her again after speaking with the insurance Co to tell her things were squared away and that I requested another company because she was impolite and rude. She asked "how was I rude?" and hung up as I began to explain. When I called back to speak to a manager the phone rang and eventually I heard a message saying "the answering service has been turned off". Nice going lady who is the face and voice of John's. I have filed a formal complaint with my insurance Co and also with the BBB. John's, my insurance premiums are worthy of better service than your receptionist gave today. This was my first and last time considering you as a provider. I am but one person but that's one less payment and referral for you. No, thanks for what a simple apology could have salvaged. read more

TERRIBLE Tow truck company! TERRIBLE customer service! Bad Tempered Manager! My insurance covers my tows but I need a receipt from Johns towing to get refunded. Six weeks now I have been calling for this receipt and they keep putting me off. I even had my insurance agent call and they still have NOT sent a receipt. They were paid. They get to keep their money. All I want is a copy of the receipt for a payment I made to them for my tow. Unbelievable. I will never use this service again and I will never recommend to any of my friends or family. TERRIBLE! read more

After a lovely breakfast with my family this morning, I headed off to work. I'm driving down the expressway and the car starts to sputter. It finally dies. Thankfully, I was able to get into an accident investigation site. I remembered John's Towing from a year before and gave them a call. After a quick chat, I was told that a driver was on his way. A different guy showed up this time. His name was John and he got there in less than about 20 minutes. He was an older guy and was a bit stolid, but very professional. He checked out the car a little and asked what happened. I explained and he said, "It sounds like you ran out of gas." I put the key in and the fuel gauge read that I had a little less than half a tank. He hooked up the car and we headed over to a mechanic he recommended nearby. John was very polite and recommended a guy who didn't bend me over with repairs. In fact, I really did run out of gas and the float in my gas tank was stuck. The mechanic whacked my gas tank with a little hammer, heard it was empty, filled me up, and I was on my way for $20 plus the tank of gas. I kind of feel stupid for such a ridiculous thing to have happened, but at least John's Towing showed up within about 20 minutes and took me to an honest mechanic who got me on my way quickly. Thanks again, John's Towing! For as much as I appreciate you guys, let's hope I don't have to call you again! LOL Keep up the good work! read more

I called John's towing after my car overheated on the expressway during rush hour. I had driven to Chicago for business and thankfully was on the way back to my hotel after a day of meetings. I figured that getting stuck in rush hour traffic was bad enough, and that I would have to wait forever for a tow. Even for that extremely busy time of day, it only took John's towing about 25 minutes to reach me - much better than the hour to two hours the other two towing companies I called first had quoted me. The driver showed up with a pretty new, shiny and impeccably clean flatbed tow truck. My car has all wheel drive and has to be towed on a flat bed so I appreciated that they sent out the right type of truck. The driver was quick and careful, and in just a few short minutes we were on our way to drop off my car at the dealership. The rate seemed reasonable and the driver was not the stereotypical "grease monkey" driver that everyone expects. I had a nice conversation with him on the way, and learned that John's is a family owned business that has been around for decades. I was very appreciative that he was very careful with my car and was efficient with the whole operation - I think it was just about an hour from the first phone call to me leaving the dealership after dropping off the car. This was in fairly heavy traffic as well. I wholeheartedly recommend this family operation - good price, quick service, nice driver, clean and efficient. read more
