May 9, 2018 We knew there was problem somewhere. First we started receiving letters from MLGW about…read moreinconsistencies in the water usage and there was something possibly something leaking somewhere. The letters and quickly rising bills kept coming. We started with replacing inside things from faucets to toilets....washing machine lines. Nothing worked. So randomly picked a company. So Tankersley Plumbing was the one I went with. Because plumbing can be a hit or miss and you can be pulling for straws trying to find a good company or trying to fix it your self. (So much for that). I called them they came the first day to bring the listening tool to detect area and where it was coming from. Our shade tree plumber had dug out the entire back yard flowerbed and broke up foundation concrete. Ugh. Not it. Not even close to the real problem in the front. Never again. Tankersley was out here in a flash. Made the appointment for repair on Wednesday at 9 and they was her and on time. You know plumbing is expensive. But you want it done correct the first time. Fast forward to October 18, 2018. Had to call another plumbing company to re tube the entire house couldn't find the leak that started back and that was in the thousands as well...

Choate's installed a complete HAVAC system for us 9 years ago. I called them on a Friday because…read morethe AC was not cooling. Was given a Saturday appt. from 1-7 PM. The tech spent over two hours and took 22 photos of the AC system, the furnace, the hot water tank, the main breaker box. 22 photos trying to find something else to tell us needed replacing. He said we had a leak but he could not find it. He said he could do a pressure test for $400. and keep looking, or we could buy a complete new AC system for $10,000. I asked if he would refill system with refrigerant while we considered our options. He said that would cost $190 a pound for the refrigerant which required 8 pounds, for a cost of $1,520. Our system still had 12 months of original warranty remaining but the tech was of no assistance in determining if the leak was even in one of the AC components still under warranty. He was only interested in selling more testing, or a complete new system. The next day I called another company. He showed up on Sunday no less, found the leak in 30 minutes, tightened a connection, added 2 pounds of refrigerant, and charged us $260. for a SUNDAY service call ! I paid Choate's $159. for their trip charge plus a diagnostic fee, which was " You have a leak." And remember my system was installed by Choate's and still under warranty. Stay away from Choate's, run away from Choate's as fast as you can.

They scheduled the appointment for Thursday due to the weather. confirmation reminder texts were sent to both my phones. Thursday came...no one showed up. No call no anything. No one has returned my call each day since. Out of desperation, I've had to call another company to come out and I'll be out of pocket with this one for abt $400. This is poor service on a contract YOU sold me and for an appointment that YOU made and for YOU not responding to my messages.

I've been a loyal customer for years (as well as my parents) and previously held a monthly…read moremembership for HVAC and water heater maintenance because it offered value, peace of mind, and discounted service. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. The company recently changed the membership pricing structure -- but instead of improving value, they increased the cost to five times higher, now charging per HVAC and water heater unit, per year, not per household. That means I'd now be paying significantly more just for the right to get a "discount," which makes the membership essentially pointless. It feels like I'm paying for the discount itself (maybe more so) and not actually receiving benefits. What makes this worse is that no proactive notice, explanation, or justification was provided to existing customers. I only found out when I looked into scheduling my routine fall HVAC maintenance. A major pricing and policy change like this should be communicated clearly, transparently, and respectfully -- especially to customers who have been loyal and previously trusted the company with their home systems. This comes across as misleading and very poor business practice, and it's an easy way to drive away customers who have been supportive for years. Sadly, this change has made me rethink doing business with them going forward. This is not only misleading but feels like a calculated money-grab disguised as a benefit. It also reflects poor business judgment and questionable customer-focused ethics. Prior members should be aware that the "membership" no longer provides true value and may cost far more than it saves -- proceed with caution.
