I hobbled into Dr. Boley's office, bent over in terrible back pain. I was certain that I had a herniated disc. Dr. Boley examined me and put me on a specialized table that allowed him to treat the specific area of my pain. He did various adjustments and concluded that my ailment was a misaligned vertebrae, which he was able to adjust. Almost immediately, my pain level dropped significantly and I was able to walk out of the office standing almost perfectly upright. I searched for a chiropractor that had a decompression table for my spine injury. I had heard that decompression tables can perform miracles. I had already had a lot of chiropractic treatment but was still in a lot of pain. Dr. Boley not only had the table to help with my compressed nerve, which sent pain down the back of my right leg, he also had the soft laser to help with circulation and healing. I am a 72-year-old female with more medical conditions than one has fingers. The worst conditions are both painful neuropathy and arthritic back issues. I had my personal physician and neurologist tell me that there is nothing that can be done for these conditions. I begged for pain relief and was given prednisone, flexeril, ibuprofen, acupuncture and creams for my back, none of which worked. No suggestions were given to relieve the burning, tingling and stabbing pain in my feet. The doctors prescribed for Neuropathy Gabapentin, Lyrica, lidocaine cream & capsaicin. Again with minimal effect. In a search for answers to Neuropathy pain, I attended a government trial consultation in Walnut Creek, but decided that the double-blind trial wasn't for me. Finally, I searched for alternative methods that may give relief from the neuropathy pain. I had read extensively on methods that some chiropractor's use, which was FDA approved K-Laser Therapy along with other therapies. I made appointments with two different chiropractors to discuss ways that might help relieve the pain associated with my arthritic back and my Small Fiber Neuropathy. I was skeptical of the first Chiropractor with his high-pressure tactics and questioning healing claims. The second Chiropractor was Dr. Boley from Johnson Ranch Chiropractor off of Sierra College in Roseville. In the first consultation with Dr. Boley, I immediately knew that this Doctor was for me, he was truly genuine. He did not make false promises; he had honest opinions and a straightforward plan to try to make my pain less. Dr. Boley simultaneously started treatment on my arthritic back and K-Laser treatment for my neuropathy. I can honestly say that I have improved immensely over the past week. I can finally function without major back pain throughout the day. Although I don't expect miracles, I have less pain in my feet after a few treatments with K-Laser. I expect even better results when these phases of treatment are complete. I could not be happier with Dr. Boley, he is truly the best. Great Doctor and excellent staff. The best part, aside from the care, is that they don't gouge their patients financially on visits. I went to Johnson Ranch Chiropractic because I could tell my back was out of alignment. I must say that I was pretty sceptical of chiropractic care at first, but I quickly realized that regular visits are a benefit. I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Boley! My husband and I were in a head-on car accident that involved 4 cars. The violence of the impact was unreal. It is because of Dr. Boley's care, that we are truly on the mend. He did more for us than our own family doctor of 25 years. We both did the physical therapy that was recommended by our doctor, and went through all of the other suggested treatments, but NOTHING healed or helped us as much as our chiropractic care. We've learned during this process, that many doctors are willing to give you pain pills and send you on your way, much easier than they are willing to listen, determine the best plan for healing, and to follow through. I want to strongly recommend Dr. Charles Boley II of Johnson Ranch Chiropractic for his exceptionally excellent chiropractic treatment of my sudden onset of very painful lower back and sciatica pain. As a senior doctoral level health practitioner and researcher who has experienced many other health practitioners I want to say that Dr. Boley's work ranks at the top in terms of his diagnostic and treatment skills. My difficulties began when I started experiencing minor pain during my regular treadmill exercise. Then that pain rapidly increased so that I started having difficulty walking. The pain continued to increase so that I went from a cane to a walker to a wheelchair. At night I would sometimes awaken with excruciating level 10 pain, and struggle with such pain for hours. The resulting sleep deprivation and the intermittent severe pain made life difficult. This was the first time in my life I had ever experienced anything like this. I started my search for high quality back treatment with a major national healthcare organization which has received good national rankings in a number of areas. There an orthopedic M.D. and his team examined my spinal MRI, and informed me that my condition was such that an epidural would not help, and that I needed surgery ASAP. Since my father-in-law decades earlier had sought and suffered enormously from numerous unsuccessful back surgeries despite then Surgeon General Koop's warnings that most back surgeries failed, I researched the current situation regarding back surgeries in order to decide whether to go ahead with the recommendation for immediate back surgery. Although the back surgery situation seems to have improved since then, my research indicated that back surgery continued to entail considerable risk. For example, in researching medical journals I learned that back surgeons often cannot tell whether a back surgery is effective until after the patient indicates whether or not the pain has disappeared. A back surgery may appear to be "perfect", but the patient may remain in pain. Also, 80% of people over 55 have spinal disc bulges, with some people never experiencing back pain despite their spinal disc bulges, and others experiencing excruciating, incapacitating pain. Given the complexity of the nervous system, the surgeon may mistakenly operate on an area of the spine that appears problematic, but that may turn out not to be the cause of the patient's pain. Additionally, given the complexity of the nervous system surgery may result in accidental damage to a nerve, thereby causing additional pain. I decided to investigate non-surgical approaches to my back/sciatica pain and found considerable disagreements about what I should do, so that I eventually saw ten different qualified health practitioners, and continued my research. Among the health practitioners I saw were orthopedic surgeons; a spinal decompression machine specialist; a Bowen practitioner; and chiropractors. Although all of these seemed well meaning, knowledgeable health practitioners, and opiod medications were somewhat helpful, I continued to experience considerable difficult, partially incapacitating pain, and for the first time in my life found myself unable to move around except in a wheelchair. Then, while continuing to search for a health practitioner who could help me I saw that a chiropractor, Dr. Charles Boley, stated that he had "revolutionized" his chiropractic practice through having been trained in one of the most powerful non-surgical lasers available, the K Laser, and that he was the only such trained health practitioner in the greater Sacramento area. Dr. Boley's superb diagnostic skills directed him to focus on a part of the nervous system in my leg, in addition to the lumbar area which all of the other health practitioners had focused on. In addition, Dr. Boley and his assistant, Lisa, used the K Laser on my lumbar and leg areas. My leg pain rapidly responded to Dr. Boley's treatments. Within a few sessions my pain disappeared, and I was out of the wheelchair and able to walk without assistance. Since I had been unable to walk for several months Dr. Boley then helped me with balance exercises, which completed his very successful treatment of me. Dr. Boley's office is a pleasant and professional office, with his wife, Tracy and his medical assistant, Lisa, maintaining a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. At Dr. Boley's direction Lisa administered the K Laser treatments to my lumbar and leg areas in a relaxed, professional manner. In conclusion, I strongly recommend Dr. Charles Boley's Johnson Ranch chiropractic services as being one of the most effective treatment services I have experienced during my decades as a senior health professional. read more
