Johnson's Stepping Stone Cafe... what a great little hometown diner... everything is house made except the fries ... great family friendly place... family owned and worked by family... We tried the roast beef plate w mashed potatoes and brown gravy, green beans.. chicken strips.. chili ... house made rolls were excellent!! A slice of cherry pie for dessert... loved the service and enjoyed the atmosphere... We will be back! It's a gem sitting in downtown Bixby... come give it a try!

Food was freshly prepared, but lacked flavor. I had the FAMOUS chicken-fried steak with mashed potatoes. The steak breading was crisp and flavorless. It was an effort to cut through the very thin meat with a serrated steak knife. Canned corn was dry and of poor quality. Mashed potatoes were a lukewarm glob of instant potatoes with white gravy that had to be a mix with water added. The side salad was iceberg lettuce with 3 small bits of tomato. Ranch dressing was excellent. I drove over 30 minutes to try this restaurant during the latest part of a weekday lunch rush. Service was efficient for the lunch hour. I have no desire to come back.

Want really good prices?? Like you got inside a Time Machine and went back to the 1980's prices?? This place is for you! The prices were almost shocking! Really good food! This is a small neighborhood cafe, that is dated and not as clean as a lot of places, but gives off "back in the days vibes". Even tho it's dated and needs shuffle Ramsey to come in and make it beautiful lol, the food, staff and prices are a win. They make homemade chicken and dumplings, I had the BLT and it was yum! It's $5.39 and comes with chips. YES you read that correctly.... Super affordable. I chose to add in- house made onion rings for an additional $2.99 and they reminded me of the kind my dad use to make. Very pleased with my lunch. I will say they add a $1 fee for a thingy of ranch (ranch was not that good tbh). I didn't know that and probably wouldn't of gotten it. My friend had a hamburger and chose to opt out of the chips that do come with it - instead she got the fries. I tasted her burger and it was very good! BIG sodas. BIG sodaaaaa... They also sale homemade desserts and also peanut brittle. I didn't get any because I was about to POP. Cute little downtown Bixby with a couple cute shops you can walk to as well. Just a tip.... I didn't care for the Copper Key Coffeeshop I went into. I have a separate review on that.

Wowza!!! His place is a legit small town find! Everyone's a regular, the food is delicious and generous portions. We had the Indian tacos and the jalapeño chicken. The chicken was freakin awesome and the fries crispy deliciousness. We will be back

An outstanding café. Friendly attentive service and excellent food, a good variety of diner menu offerings, at bargain prices. I just knew that my wife would order the Indian Taco. I just knew it! Wrong, she went with the Fish Basket, one of today's specials. I followed her lead. A $10.99 value packed basket of food. Crispy coated fries, a school of fresh crusty hot moist catfish filets, great coleslaw, an odd looking, but delicious version of a hush puppy and a cup of perfect tartar sauce. Generous portions. You probably can't eat it all. The ladies serving were constantly checking on customer needs, always greeting with big personable smiles. You will feel like you are a local and a regular customer here. The café is small, still packed with customers at 2:30 when we entered. The Stepping Stone Café knows how to fry fish.

I had heard about this restaurant long before I actually got to try it and let me tell you, it lived up to the hype. A quaint little cafe situated in downtown bixby with a laid back ambiance and delicious food! The restaurant was packed when we arrived (so I knew it was gonna be delicious) but the waitresses were kind and we got a table quickly. We sat, perused the menu and both got the chicken strip dinner. Service was fast and the food was 10/10. If you're in the area you HAVE to try.

Steak fingers! Mash potatoes w/gravy and fried okra.
    Papa H.

Steak fingers were delicious, dipped into the white gravy. Okra was okay, as well as mashed potatoes. Wife had Indian taco. A bit dissatisfied with the fried bread. Special of the day and a lot of people were eating them. Wasn't what she'd order again. Service is always spot-on. Can't say enough about staff. Very nice.

We found this local cafe because of crowd going in the door. I glad we did. I had a delicious classic club sandwich which was delicious. Todd ordered a cheeseburger and onion rings. You know they can cook when you get excellent onion rings. Great food quickly and super friendly service makes this a great choice. I hope to order from the breakfast

Okay I hate to give this place the 5 stars because I would love to keep this gem hidden. When you see steak fingers on the menu, they are homemade and the breading is fantastic. Large portions, we both had left overs.

They are known for offering gluten-free food but I am not sure if their whole menu is gluten-free. This was a perfect opportunity to try it out since it was a week day. We arrived for an early dinner so it was not busy at all. It was really quiet inside since it wasn't busy but I can only imagine how fun it is during their busy times. They are not open Saturday and Sunday. It is a small location but easy to find. As we stepped inside we were a little lost as to what to do first, wait for a hostess, find a table and wait to order or walk up to the small counter area to order. My husband asked and we were instructed to order then find a table to sit. I love a good Chicken Fried Steak so I already knew what I was going to order. It came with mashed potatoes and of course, gravy, plus a roll. It would be nice if another veggie was offered to off-set a carb heavy meal. My husband ordered the hamburger steak with mashed potatoes, green beans and roll. He later noticed a very tiny sign next to the register advertising pot roast and was a little disappointed he didn't see that first. Pot roast is his favorite. For dessert, he thought he saw coconut creme pie in the cooler but it was lemon meringue which he is not a fan. He settled on the pecan pie cheesecake that we shared. It was a surprisingly great pie. All of our food was great and exceeded our expectations. We would like to come back again so he can try the pot roast and I will order the CFS again. This restaurant definitely has a small town feel where they know their regulars by name. I would recommend it to friends and family.

For my starter I ordered "Our Nice Little Salad" this beauty was crisp, fresh, and had tomatoes that popped in your mouth and bursted with flavor. The in-house croutons had that perfect buttery crunch, spiced pecans added a unique boldness and the homemade ranch was thick and creamy. I will say I had to ask three times for ranch. I just kept waiting. For our main courses we had the bone-in pork chop. Thick, juicy, and properly rested paired with red mashed potatoes.... Which were very good. The seasonal corn - was gone so quick! It was just so delicious. Ate that right up!! The shrimp scampi leaned heavily into garlic and butter in the best possible way. Shrimp were big, tender and juicy. Unfortunately my rotisserie chicken.... was very dry. I kept choking because of that. I was unable to eat it, that was disappointing. As far as atmosphere... very warm lighting, intimate feels, candle lit, steady energy, attentive staff. The dining room hums with laughter and happy customers... but without overtaking the conversation at our table. The volume was comfortable considering it was a full house.

For our sides we chose the fried & onion rings. The burger was hands down one of the best I've had in the Tulsa area. The meat had such an amazing flavor and the quality was great, you can taste the freshness. The Philly was a great size and fully loaded! The bread was soft and pillowy and overall a great sandwich. The gyro was filled to the brim with meat and tasted so fresh as well, packed with veggies and sauce. The fries had a nice seasoning on top that added a nice flavor. The onion rings were excellent -- crispy, well-seasoned, easily the highlight of the meal. The burger was fine, so the kitchen clearly knows how to handle basic grill items. The problem was the sandwiches: * Cheesesteak was dry and under-seasoned * Very little flavor overall * Bread wasn't bad, but added nothing * The chicken cheesesteak had the same issues, so it's not just the beef There was also an order issue: asking for no onions resulted in no peppers either, even though peppers were wanted. That suggests the toppings are treated as a single mix rather than customized. Grill'd seems to do burgers and fried sides well, but the cheesesteaks don't live up to the name. If you come here, I'd recommend sticking to burgers or onion rings and skipping the cheesesteaks.
