I abandoned Johnston's Propane for another supplier because they have been totally unresponsive and rude. We desperately needed propane to keep our house from freezing because they did not deliver propane in a timely manner. I called all of the numbers, even the supposed "emergency" number and got no answer. I left messages on their voicemail and never got a call back from anyone. Meanwhile the inside of the house was getting colder and colder by the minute. When I was able to talk to someone in the office WEEKS later, they were *very* rude to me and put the delinquent propane delivery as my fault. Since that time, no one has been answering the phone, responding to voicemail or email. I'd rather go with electric heat than ever have these folks as a propane supplier. read more

We were supposed to have locked in pricing for $1.94 until May 31st. They are now trying to charge me $3.11. The lady on the phone was claiming their prices have gone up more than expected and could care less to resolve the situation. Found out this is happening to another guy I work with also, which means they are most likely doing it to everyone. Told them to take me off their delivery schedule and don't you dare fill it up again. Do not deal with this company. read more

I changed Propane services this summer due to the poor performance of Johnston's. They had been sold but customers had not been notified. Terrible service. Its no wonder why people are switching. The secretary was extremely rude and wouldn't listen to what we were saying. Never had a leak on our take for almost a year. We kept telling the Tech's who filled our tank. Finally enough. We switched companies. And asked them to remove their tank that was filled a few days before. You could smell the propane as you walked by. They finally came to pick it up and the and the tech agreed that there was a leak at the top of the tank. They now tell us they are charging us a $85.00 pick up fee for this tank that leaks. I asked for a corporate phone number and this secretary said that there wasn't one available for us to call. Then she had the gull to hang up on me. So much for customer service. Stay away from this company. read more

If there was a negative star to give I would. I've been a customer of Johnston's for close to 10 years, On two occasions, I've had to call twice to get my tank filled as I was out (and this just this time I've had to call for fuel as they refuse to put me on a schedule). The first time I called in Feb 2023 to request service, they were fairly responsive, as I have HEAP and they used those funds for my fuel and showed up the same day. The second time I called, March 9, 2023 as I ran out in the middle of the night. When I called for service, I had to pre-pay for my fuel as my HEAP had been all used, and they would not deliver until the next day. I explained I was completely out and the temperatures had dropped significantly ! No compassion, no care and no assistance and they didn't care how cold it was! DO NOT use this propane company ! read more

Run, run, run! The worst customer service ever encountered for a business. If you run out of propane too bad (their motto I'm sure) better have another source of heat. I ran out over 3 times on the coldest days of winter. Not do to payment issues strickly just lack of delivery not set up by them. DUH IT'S WINTER... AUTO DELIVERY WAS DELIGHTFUL, until they decided it wasn't and changed it without letting the customer know, thus freezing in your home in the middle of winter on a Friday don't even think about them coming out on the weekend. Customer equals cash nothing in between. Rude, unreliable, and you will get caught in the deep freeze. 15 years with them and it's only gone way down hill in the past couple years . I have seen only nasty reviews for Johnston's Propane on here and to be honest...I'm shocked... We moved here 4 years ago and turned to Johnston's for our propane...we have never had a problem with them...a few times we ran out forgetting to call and that was our fault not theirs and they were very accommodating and within a day or so we had our delivery... We are not rich and still get amazing service and customer service...during one delivery the driver even noticed we had a leak and he repaired it right then and there... There was a woman who answered the phone who seemed a bit rude but I simply said please, thank you, God Bless and have a terrific day and her attitude changed dramatically...sometimes dealing with rude people all day makes you a bit cranky... I have and will continue to recommend Johnston's Propane to anyone who asks. read more

I honestly started out really liking Johnston's when I moved to this area a few summers ago. The man who owns it was very helpful, working with my budget and showing me what to do as I had never had propane before. Unfortunately, he isn't usually who you deal with. The extraordinarily unpleasant secretary has been blatantly rude to me over the phone every time I have called, set up automatic refills without my authorization, billed me without permission for things I hadn't even received yet to the point that I changed my credit card and won't give them the new number, and the kicker was last winter I called and requested a specific amount to be filled as I have a larger tank than I needed and didn't want to pay for a full one, and then I got a bill for a full fill totaling three times what I requested. She can't be bothered to listen to what you're saying, and repeating yourself multiple times still doesn't get through. I just called to request a change in tank size and a fill and it was like pulling rude teeth to not only find out what my tank size options were but how much it would be. It's unfortunate that there aren't very many other options here, and the ones there are seem to be just as bad in differing ways. read more

Just like the previous review. The secretary is extremely rude and doesn't listen to customers. We only use propane for hot water and for the stove. We don't go through much and always pay on time. We'll we received a bill in may that wasn't much but I was sure they hadn't come and put any in our tank. The tank was only about half way but we received a bill. Secretary said they were out there. We'll the person who lives directly behind us has not paid their bill and has been getting propane. I tired to explain to the woman I believe she was filling the wrong house and she said no. Well this month we are empty and I called and they said we will be out today to do our fillings. I said are you sure, she bluntly said we will be out today. We'll the end of the day came and they never came. So I called and she rudely said tomorrow. At that point I said forget it we will go with someone else. We always pay our bills on time and as soon as we get them. We have had propane in our house almost eight years. A full tank for the way we use it would last over a year. Zero customer service. Went through a cold patch this winter where it stayed in the single digits all day and night and ran out of fuel -- wasn't aware they hadn't refilled yet. When i called to have a delivery come out i was told the service guy would get the message and call me, called at 8:30 the first time, then again around 10:30, and then again around 11:30 -- still had not received a call from the delivery guy. Asked for some kind of ETA so that i knew when to expect him and they could not provide that information for some reason. Called again at 4:30 in the morning, still nothing, and then again at 8 in the morning (now 12 hours+ without any heat in the BELOW FREEZING temperatures), finally got a sympathetic service rep who put a message into the owner, who then called me a little while later. He told me since I had a balance owed on my account that I could not get fuel. I had paid my bill in full the previous Friday. I was furious 1) My bill was since paid and 2) if that was reason for not delivering fuel in the first place, i should have been notified at 8:30 pm the previous night, NOT over 12 hours later after a number of phone calls! Told him that i had paid it and he then said he could send out delivery but it would take a couple of hours. Again, not sympathetic or caring in any way. The truck finally came around noon. Went there another time before and the lady behind the counter was out loud complaining about me and my fiance to her superviser while i was standing right there at the counter, not bothering to keep her voice low apparently, since i could hear her 100% (you shouldn't be complaining about your customers right in front of them anways!). NOT very happy with these guys, they obviously do not care about their customers. All they care about are that the bills go out, and that the bills get paid. 100% WOULD NOT recommend them if you feel like you want any value out of your propane provider. read more
