My son took a parkour class back during the pandemic (it's a very delayed review). He had this "test" that he had to jump over 2 stacked up blocks, not secured and wobbly, fell and broke his wrist and dislocated his elbow. He needed two surgeries and 8 weeks of cast. It was the first class of the month so I called them to cancel the payment for the rest of the month, due to the injury caused by lack of care at JAM. (My son was with a capoeira place for 3 year prior to JAM, where he did similar activities but always with the instructor securing down the blocks) The girl on the phone was like "oh yeah.. I see he broke his arm.. Ill cancel the payment." Not once asking if he is ok or anything. When I checked my payment status later, I found out they charged me for 3 sessions that my son couldnt even make. Really nice way to do business. read more

We had our son's 5th birthday here and it was amazing. We were a little nervous since there wasn't too many reviews for birthday parties (they have fabulous reviews about the facility in general), but they went above my expectation. Amazing place to work on a variety of disciplines! I've been coming here for years and it's such a hidden gem in Los Angeles! I learned martial arts tricking here and stunt training as well. The community of people who go here are super positive and friendly. Staff is very professional and warm. This place was instrumental in me becoming a stuntman for many hit TV and film shows! I used to frequent the previous location. It's still a nice facility. In this particular instance, I disclosed I had a sensitive item that needed to be secured (rhymes with Tire Farm) due the nature of my profession. I was told there was nowhere to store it, secure it, or otherwise place it, and that said items were not allowed in the building at all. The fellow at the front desk did contact his boss, who reiterated the same point. I was provided a refund and bid farewell. No ill will held towards staff, but if you have a CCW, work in the profession of public safety, or related fields, you'll either have to show up without that item, secure in your vehicle (which is suboptimal) or I suppose you can lie and leave it unsecured in a cubby. Unfortunately, I will likely not be returning to this establishment...which sucks. This place has always been awesome. Tl;Dr: You cannot carry in this place at all. **No exceptions.** read more

Wow... wow... wow. JAM is incredible! Everyone here is so friendly. They have so many classes available, it's unbelievable. From dance to karate and parkour professionals. There's even this new tricking art that is the most physically compelling jaw dropping movement I have ever seen. Most gyms I've been to such as Equinox or Crunch, usually has cardio and weights and the usual zumba, yoga, and pilates classes. At JAM you can learn how to scale a wall, jump from building to building, and get some cardio and weights in too. This is a one of a kind establishment with first class service. The overall cleanliness of the facility is in top shape and everything feels brand new. There's plenty of parking in the back lot. The staff here are more like friends than anything. In addition to the classes there are also gatherings and special events for each sport. Really good vibes at JAM. This is the mecca of it all. read more

I love JAM. I started going around May to learn how to Hip-Hop dance, and after doing extensive research for a pure beginner and feeling out each studio, I decided to start my lifelong dream of becoming a dancer. I was 30 when I began, with zero dancing experience. All I had was the willingness to learn and absorb whatever was offered. Although this is a beginner class, Spencer really knows how to break down the movements and explain everything so one will not get lost or overwhelmed, all the while challenging you to grow and learn new movements your body may not be accustomed to yet. Every choreo is very fun and you get a great workout as well. I started out here very shy, but the warm and friendly environment allowed me to open up and socialize more. Mama Wong(my dance partner) and I have had many great grooving sessions that have been sorely missed! I've made many dear friends and have very fond memories at JAM. I have since moved on after several months to explore different forms of dance, but I still bring with me all the knowledge and insight gained from having a great foundation learned at JAM. I recommend anyone who wants to learn how to dance to start out here. It is a friendly environment and a great place to learn! read more

It's been a while since I've been compelled to write a review. Back when I was an Elite I lived for the city, but I haven't had as much time these days so haven't really been able to brag about all the wonderful things I love about our little home on the west coast. But JAM....ooooh. I am currently training for a new action film, and this place is honestly the most addictive thing I've done in a while. I will be done training around October, but something tells me this just became a lifetime thing for me. If you have any interest in mastering the movement of your body in any way, through boxing, martial arts, gymnastics, tricking, parkour, free running, dancing, weapons, etc...then this is the place to do it. In literally just one month, they've become close friends and the place has become near and dear to me. I reckon I will consider them family and this space home within another month. First, a little about us: we have 4 kiddos (Ages 10, 8, 6 and 3). We were looking for a place to learn tumbling. The 2 older kids wanted to be able to do those amazing handsprings and flips they saw their breakdancing teacher, Shayan Shafar, do. In addition to doing countless headspins, Shayan would do these insane twists, flips and spins in the air. He shared with us that JAM was his second home and there was an amazing commmunity there and its where he picked up many of his skills. Now, this review is one of my longest, but that's because of how dear and special JAM is to our family. If you're thinking about this place, please read on. TLDR Version: Great place that is like a family. Amazing tumbling, parkour and tricking programs. Decent hip hop dance on Tues/Thurs nights after tumbling. Full review: We started with their Amazon Local promotion which let us try out a bunch of their programs: Kids JAM, Tumbling, Hip Hop, Parkour, and Tricking. I still remember our very first day walking into this amazing facility out in the valley. There were kids learning kung fu from White Lotus, but our interest and focus was what was happening in the back. We met Coach Jo Paloma that day and he setup this fantastic obstacle course that had the kiddos leaping from block to block. The smiles and the joy of navigating that course had us hooked. Then, after that class, Coach Jo started up the tumbling class. Over the next few weeks, the kiddos learned so many great skills from the coaches. The coaches at JAM are very focused on strong fundamentals while challenging the kids to perform at their level. They setup 4 to 5 stations each of which trained the kids in key skills. Our 3 kids now have gotten very good at some elements (walkovers, etc) and are working on their front and backflips. Since then, our kids have also signed up and joined the tricking and parkour classes. All three elements work really well together. Coach Malachi and Nate teach the parkour classes and they have a perfect mix of discipline and skills building. The kids have learned alot about what momentum means and how to safely move like ninjas! From Coach Law, our kids have learned some really beautiful aerial techiques, spins and started kicking. The group classes are fantastic. We've also worked with many of the coaches in their private lessons where they can help build on the foundations from the classes and provide fantastic pointers. For me, the dad who's driving the kids here, I bring my gym bag because I get to workout upstairs instead of just sitting and waiting for the kids. Most of all though, JAM is a family. There is a real community here that helps each other and cares deeply for one another. You can see and feel the encouragement, excitement and love that not just the coaches, but everyone that is there brings to the art of movement. Everything about JAM screams "tricking! parkour!," Even the contrived acronym of a name. JAM is the reincarnation of White Lotus, which many of us remember as that badass alternative to overcrowded, overplayed and overhyped Tempest Freerunning Academy. Jam has airmats on weekends which let you nail and soar any flip you want to try. On weekdays, it has a massive swath of spring floors, vault blocks and LeChe(?) bars upon which hang big punching bags. Then there's a big foam pit you have to take a tiny 6 foot wallrun to access, and a trampoline with the same deal. Nothing particularly mindblowing or gimmicky about JAM; no Super Mario painted blocks, curved walls or tac corridors. But that's what JAM is, reliable, cheap ($7 open gym), and fun. read more

My 5.5 years old son started parkour classes about a month ago and absolutely loves it! We started from 1 class a week and now moved to twice a week and sometimes even 3. The coaches and the stuff are all very nice and friendly. The classes are absolutely amazing, they work on so many things like balance, concentration, stamina, stretching and also have fun at the huge pit with soft blocks by the end of each class. I wish there was a way to give more stars. The place was awesome. Took my daughter Friday and Saturday and both days were great. The energy in JAM is very inspiring to someone who loves tricking. Both days had someone at the front who you could tell they loved what they did, it was as if they weren't working because they enjoyed being there so much. I wish all jobs could be this great. The instruction she received from Dan on her Friday night class was incredible. She left feeling more confident in the moves she learned and took home a better understanding of the fundamentals. I've trained at many gyms, but JAM by far is my favorite. Most facilities are polarizing, but JAM is open to all walks of the Martial Arts and stunt world. The instructors as well as the members/students who attend are friendly and willing to help you learn, even if it's not during class. They are very professional, treating every as if they are a valued member of the industry, no matter your skill level. My son, age 13, has been coming here for years. Mostly for open gym but he takes classes occasionally. I like the culture here. My son often asks for help with his flips and so many are willing and excited to share their knowledge and help the less experienced or younger athletes. It's a very inspiring environment with a lot of professional stunt people, trickers, tumblers, martial artists. Specific shout outs to Manager/Co-Owner Michael Philip and our favorite coach Paul Whitecotton!!!! Both are amazingly helpful and go out of their way to make my son's experience at JAM a memorable one. Paul is so willing to give of his time to help the next generation. Such a great role model. JAM is my go to training spot. From the second you walk in there's music playing which sets the mood to get you going. They have an upstairs gym, airtrack trampoline, spring floors, foam pit, punching bags, etc; the ultimate playground for athletes. If that's not enough they also have a variety of classes from parkour to tricking to boxing to... you get the point. One of the best places I train at! It has an awesome spring floor for trickers and other acrobats to do work on. Plus a padded section for those working on kicks, break dancing, or anything else required of a not so bouncy floor! They also have a private wood floor room with mirrors for dancing, and an upstairs dedicated to working out ( get those lifts in!). This place is the social mecca of all athletes in the industry. It's not uncommon to run across an actor or a stuntman training at JAM for an upcoming gig. Which makes this place not only the best for training, but also the best for networking. read more
