JoJo's Beloved is one of those places you go for drinks and vibes. Period. It's tucked away just off the Politan Row food hall at Colony Square, so if you've never been, finding it is part of the experience. You can also get to it through the glass doors from The Starling Hotel, the old W Midtown on 14th Street. Coming off the elevator bank, it's through the first set of glass doors you see. Once you're inside, the entire mood changes. The interior is retro, stylish, dark, and a little dramatic with a definite 70s/80s disco-glam feel. Plush seating, low lighting, bold colors, and just enough over-the-top design to make it fun without feeling cheesy. It's a great date-night or girls-night spot and definitely somewhere you could bring someone visiting Atlanta. There is no food here, so know that before you go. This is strictly a cocktail lounge. You can always eat in the food hall before or after, but you can't bring food from Politan Row inside JoJo's. The cocktails are really the focus, along with the music and atmosphere. It's usually packed, particularly later in the week, so I would make a reservation if you know you want to go rather than assuming you'll be able to walk right in. The room itself isn't huge, which actually adds to that intimate, hidden-lounge feeling. For me, JoJo's isn't somewhere I'm going because I want dinner and drinks. I'm going because I've already eaten and want somewhere stylish to have a cocktail, listen to some music, people-watch, and enjoy the atmosphere. The vibes are truly unlike any other bar in Atlanta. It gives 70s retro chic. Me and my wife came on a Saturday evening for this particular check-in. It was around 11ish, and it was PACKED. We went to the bar/dance area in the back under the disco ball. They had a live DJ and a few smaller tables situated along the sides of the dance floor. We both just got vodka sodas, but they do have a bunch of different cocktails. This is the perfect place for a nightcap or even a nice place to go to spend your entire evening, whatever floats your boat honestly! Don was just the most amazing server/bar tender. He let us know it's a bar created by bar tenders and the drinks truly reflect it! Really enjoyed the ambiance here. Tucked in the back of a food court, this speakeasy transports you to a different place and time period. The music is loud, the drinks are ok, but the aesthetic was phenomenal. We came on a Saturday after dinner. They have space for walk ins but you can only go to the back bar where the dance floor and DJ are as the tables and bar seating are supposedly for reservations. After talking with the bartender, we were allowed to sit at a family style table and enjoy our beverages. Unfortunately, we came on a night when they were turning over the mocktail menu so they didn't have everything available to make a drink for me but they improvised and I appreciated that. My friends and I went for a little girls night out on Valentine's Day during my bestie's bachelorette weekend. We reserved a table which was so wonderful for the 7 of us since there aren't a ton of places to just sit and hang out otherwise. We got there a little bit on the earlier side of the night around 8pm so it wasn't too crowded, but as the night went on closer to 10pm, more and more people came and hung out on dance floor. Since it was Valentine's Day, it was definitely mostly couples so I'd be very curious what the vibes would be on any other night. Unfortunately for us, there was no dancing on the disco dance floor while we were there so we ended up looking for a different place to go. I personally don't drink alcohol so I can't speak to that, but I asked the bartender if he could make any mocktails and he made a surprise mocktail for me. It was so good! It was kind of like a mojito, but a sweeter and fruitier version. Highly recommend asking for a surprise mocktail if you don't drink alcohol either. The rest of the girls also said their alcoholic drinks were great and there were so many fun choices to choose from! The cocktail lounge itself is on the second floor of a hotel. It was a little hidden and hard to find. Basically, after you go to the second floor, you'll look for glass doors that mention a food court. You'll go through those doors and the cocktail lounge entrance is before you go to the food court. Also if you're looking for a place to get food after some drinks, the food court right there is so convenient! It was also such a party when we got there with music and lots of food options open. I stayed at The Starling in Atlanta and discovered that Jojo's Beloved Cocktail Lounge is connected right to the hotel -- such a convenient spot! I had dinner reservations before a show nearby but I specially times it do we had a reservation here fist to start the night. We had to wander around a bit to find it. I asked someone finally and they pointed us the right way. We had a reservation so we got a spot easy enough. It was also early so not that many people yet. Aesthetically it is an impressive and unique look. It has stark contrasts of dark walls and sweeping arch's of light. With the retro music playing you could say it gave it a goth 80's black mirror look. Pretty Cool. the vibes were great, with a mix of younger and older couples coming in. The other weekend I visited my best friend in Atlanta and she booked a reservation at this awesome 70s inspired cocktail lounge. I had never been to anything like this before, it reminded me of a speakeasy because it was located in the back of Colony Square through a bathroom to get to the entrance! They had everything decorated with cobwebs and lights for Halloween so it was great for photo ops as well. I tried the woo woo girls drink and the pink Cadillac - both delicious and fun! I'm honestly incredulous that a business can operate this poorly. JoJo's Beloved completely ruined my 27th birthday celebration, and what makes it even worse is their complete silence afterward. I had a confirmed reservation specifically for my birthday. They sent me confirmation requests BOTH 24 hours AND 1 hour before my reservation, which I responded to. When my party arrived, some coming from out of state for my birthday, we were turned away at the door because the venue had been bought out for a private event. Information they never bothered to share with us at ANY point despite having our contact information and actively confirming with us TWICE. They asked me to confirm my reservation ONE HOUR before, knowing full well they were closed for a private event and couldn't honor it. To make matters worse, Pharaoh directed us to another bar down the street, which was ALSO closed for a private event. So we spent my birthday night being bounced from venue to venue instead of celebrating. The manager on duty gave me Manager Qwesha's business card that evening. I sent a detailed email expressing my disappointment and giving them an opportunity to make this right before posting reviews. That was days ago with radio silence and not a single response. This is a complete failure on every level: - Failed to notify us our reservation was canceled despite having our contact info - Confirmed our reservation TWICE while knowing they couldn't honor it - Offered no accommodation, apology, or alternative - Gave me a business card and then ignored my email entirely We came from out of town specifically for my birthday. We chose JoJo's specifically for this celebration. Instead, the evening was completely derailed by incompetence and a total lack of basic customer service. If you're thinking of making a reservation here, be warned, they apparently don't feel obligated to honor them or even let you know when they can't. And when they mess up? The bartender also acts as your server and takes your orders even when you are not seated at the bar. She recommended a few cocktails, which we tried and they were good. They do not serve any food. But the you literally have to cross the food court to get in here. So you can always grab a bite after your drinks sesh. Parking was a breeze. We had our reservation for 6 pm, the host made us come back twice (!) because they were "not ready" to be opened. There are various sitting options - booths, long high top in the middle that can sit a large party, and the bar. From looking at the pics, I thought this place was fairly big. It's actually quite tiny. Maybe we came here at the wrong time, but the vibe just wasn't right. My bf ordered an Old Fashioned, and the bartender shook the crap out of it. Never been served a shaken Old Fashioned before. My drink was scotch based (My offer or nothing) and undrinkable. Too sweet with no balance of flavors. I was visiting Atlanta and was told that Jojo's Beloved is a must-visit while in town. I loved everything about it: the 80's inspired music, knowledgeable servers and a menu that featured a wide range of cocktails for any flavor that you're in the mood for. I love how the menu shows the ingredients for each cocktail as well as its drink inspiration. I tried the Bee Gee's cocktail, which was made of Hayman's Sloe Gin, Cadao Ruby Port, honey, Galliano, lemon juice and champagne. As of this writing, Jojo's is sporting a 3.5 star rating and this is one of those times I'm going to have to strongly disagree with the Yelp hive mind. My wife and I have been trying to go to Jojo's for a while, but we planned ahead and got a reservation to go there after we got out from an event at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Reservations are strongly recommended, because any time we've decided to just drop by and get on the waiting list, it's usually been a 45+ minute wait. Once inside, though, it's a small, intimate space with very well-done 70s disco-era decor. Plenty of tunes from that time are playing loud enough to get up and dance to, but not so loud that you have to yell at your friends to hear each other. The drinks were good as well. I had the Kola Chameleon and the Pink Cadillac. I can say that if you are curious about the Pink Cadillac and like bubblegum flavor, get it. I wasn't sure if the bubblegum flavor was going to be too powerful, but it's very slight and it ended up being my favorite drink of the night. One thing I appreciated on their menu was that they listed the drinks that served as a basis/inspiration for the cocktail so you could get the gist of what it was supposed to taste kind of like without having to decipher some of the more obscure ingredients. Service was also prompt and attentive. I see some reviewers complaining that the drinks were too expensive, but I didn't find the prices to be out of line for a trendy, see-and-be-seen cocktail bar. Pros: Friendly and attentive service. Great track selection by DJ. Place that isn't a "club" where you can dance. Cons: sound in lounge was harsh, speaker sounded busted. Was "out" of most cocktails and the limited wines on the menu (why such limited wine options anyway?). Seems pretty inexcusable to be out of drinks in Atlanta. Also, the DJ was just streaming a playlist. While the playlist was good, not having a live DJ spinning disks takes away from the authenticity of the experience. Also, I'd like to see JoJos invest in some proper sound. The audio in the lounge area is awful and the "PA" speakers on stands on the dance floor clashes with the design and ambience.
