    Vietnamese Iced Coffee
    Michelle H.

Jojo's Cafe is a casual Vietnamese spot in the neighborhood that serves simple eats and drinks. There is little seating inside, so this is definitely a grab and go place. The service is fairly quick, although my friend and I were the only customers inside when I visited. I was interested in trying Jojo's Cafe as there are a lot of good reviews online. I got the Vietnamese Iced Coffee, but I was disappointed. Typical Vietnamese coffee uses condensed milk to make the strong coffee taste more sweet, but this cafe used a creamer (Coffee Mate) for my drink, so my coffee tasted like American coffee. I decided to do a little digging after my visit and I discovered that they do have Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk, but it is under a different name. I feel like most people who order Vietnamese coffee opt for the condensed milk, but the employee just went straight ahead and made the coffee with creamer, even though my friend and I initially said we wanted condensed milk with our coffees. This might have been miscommunication, but I am not too sure if creamer is the go to for this cafe. However, I am sure this cafe as a whole excels in other areas, so if I were to come back, I would clarify that I want Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk.

Came here for lunch as I was working nearby. If was not too busy when I went. The food is delicious. Each Bahn mi is honestly enough for two meals but I ate it all as it was so yummy. There are a few tables and plenty of barstools if you wanted to eat there.

Honestly, I eat here with my boyfriend every week. Truly a hidden gem! My favorite is the bánh mì xui mai. The owner makes the meatball perfectly. Oh! They tend to spread a generous amount of butter in the bread. If you don't like too much, be sure to tell them.

Didn't get a chance to try many of their food items, but got to try a few different drinks and one of their desserts. The pennyworth and the sugar cane ones were so delicious and beyond fresh. Light, not too sweet, and so refreshing. Passionfruit - a bit too tangy for me, but passionfruit was never really my thing. My son LOVED it. It had fresh pulp and the seeds in it. The coconut bean dessert was delicious. Had a bit too much cream, but I just scraped some off the top. I'm glad they gave more though as I know some that love extra. Service - so nice! They were so welcoming and greeted us right when we walked through the door. Asked if we had any questions and walked us through any questions we had. I will surely be back!

This is neighborhood joint done right! They are small but powerful. So friendly, traditional beverages and some unique twists, and fresh, fast Bahn Mi. so cute inside, minimal seating bc it's small but I'd sit here to enjoy an iced bev and cool off!! I had a BBQ pork Bahn mi and peach iced tea with lemongrass and orange - so refreshing. Love these guys, go check 'em out.

We took a drive from Jersey City to meet friends and try another Vietnamese foodie spot. Was not disappointed! Had tried the banh mi at another well known Philly place and the banh mi here were 10 stars!! We had the H1 Special with added pork floss, the H7 pork BBQ. Veggies were perfectly pickled and fresh. The pork cold cuts, pate and floss were flavorful and plenty. The BBQ was rich and the lemongrass was flagrant. The D1 Viet iced coffee was not too sweet and had cocoa and coconut notes. The peach lemongrass tea was delightful. All served with a smile by a nice Asian server. We will make the 90+ min drive again to come back for more!

Quick service and great food, they provide lots of filling and don't skimp on the pate. The rolls have sesame seeds, which, while not authentic, do add a nice flavor to the sandwiches. You can ask for veggies on the side if you're getting it to go and not eating right away. My favorites are the banh mi dac biet (#1) and the banh mi cha ca (#8).

Delicious tofu Banh mi! Portion size was really big - I probably should have saved half for later but it was so good! If you're vegan just be aware the roll is buttered pretty heavily. The Vietnamese iced coffee was very tasty, but super sweet. Which is great if you like dessert iced coffee but I think next time I'll just try the black iced coffee! Overall very good!

This restaurant has 2 tables and 2 separate rolls.of seating. Really reminds you of a small vietnamese Cafe. This place was on my husband's list of food places to check-out. We were greeted and seated right away. They also have off menu specials. Ofcourse, I tried the Banh Canh cau which is a seafood tapioca noodle soup dish. This was pretty good. All of the ingredients were fresh and even the quail eggs. I really enjoyed the chewy noodles and soup broth. My husband got the bo kho with bread. He said that was good. I added goi cuon which is a summer roll (rice roll with shrimp, pork, lettuce and vermicelli noodles), I was in for a surprise with these rolls. They were huge. The sauce was phenomenal. Homemade sauce that tasted better then any other I have ever had. So you know I had to order one to go. We also got a Vietnamese hoagie to go (dac biet). Have not tried it yet but will report back. Parking is a plenty and metered outside. They close earlier then most restaurants. The plus is they also do catering. The staff were very nice and spoke English very well.

Great banh mis, smoothies, freshly squeezed sugar cane, and iced coffees. Feels like being in a family member's house and Jojo is super friendly and takes pride in her restaurant.

New local Vietnamese bistro style restaurant! Good size menu for takeaway items including banh mi, iced coffee and ready made off the menu items like goi cuon and specials like bun bo hue and pha lau. Food was delicious! Banh mi dac biet (special) was very crispy. I enjoyed the sesame seeds. The pate and meats were very good too. We also got canh bun. Very good, complex broth. Rieu was very very juicy with both snails and shrimp. Fresh blood cubes too. Really really good. Some seats available for individuals and couples - very clean inside and street parking is easy. Highly recommend this place. We will be back!

    Hu Tieu My Tho!
    Veng H.

Cute little Vietnamese shop with banh mi's, other Vietnamese imported foods, and a cozy selection of home-cooked noodle soups. There's only enough seating for 10 people tops, but the set-up is cafe-style with 2 small tables and a wall bar with stools. Jojo, the owner & chef, suggested Hu Tieu My Tho, which came out huge, hot, and delicious. There were so many interesting ingredients, including thai style fish cakes, fish balls with some lemongrass blend of herbs, pork, celery, and a few other things. I never had this dish before and fell in love with it! I also ordered Rau Ma, which is a sweetened pennywort drink. Refreshing! The menu changes often, depending on what Jojo wants to cook the next day. I'm excited to come back and try some more of her specialties!

Super clean facility and they take a lot of pride in the space. The less great: + I would find it hard to justify the cost of membership with so many clubs around town offering saunas as part of their full gym experience. A 45 minute sessions for two was ~$119. + There was no working remote for us the day I was there to update the infrared lights. Not a huge deal but something that is a key part of the sauna experience not working might turn future customers off. + The plug in for your phone also was really spotty and the speakers kept going in and out. We ended up ditching it and going for silence instead. + Both the sauna space and space outside of the sauna is too small for two people. Overall if you're a sauna enthusiast with lots of discretionary income, OR you're just looking for a new way to escape the winter blues - this is a great option here in Philly.

I decided I needed a juice cleanse after spending Labor Day weekend working at the Made in America…read moreFestival - consuming a steady diet of beer, ice cream and food truck cheese curds. Sadly, this is not dissimilar to my weekly beer and wings splurges and constant eating out. A cleanse was needed, badly. I has never cleansed before successfully (usually a day or two then I quit) - but I also know there is some psychology to taking something you pay good money for seriously. Gilt was having a promotional sale - so I opted for the 5 day juice cleanse from Pangaea after comparing some of the cleanse options they had available. I read the positive reviews for Pangaea and decided it would be a good things to try to see how it affected my body and just as an overall experiment. I emailed the owner, Erica, who got back to me right away and was very helpful. She let me know that I would be picking up my juices over 2 trips because they only last for a few days since they have no preservatives. So here is my experience on the cleanse, hopefully it may may answer any of the questions you have if you are on the fence about trying it. 1. Taste and Hunger - These juices are DELICIOUS. Especially served cold. Everything you are consuming is raw, vegan and only has a few ingredients and it's super fresh. You become so attuned to the subtle sweetness of the natural fruit that if you try to eat processed candy, you can tell the difference. Your taste buds get reorganized... Like when you go camping and you wait for your food after taking time to cook and everything is fresh and made right there and when you finally eat, it's the BEST. It's like that. My favorites were the Miracle Tonic (I love ginger) and Cashew Love - it kept me the most full and it was like drinking your dessert for dinner. 2. Hungry - was I ever hungry? No. Seriously. I typically drink half a juice, stick it in the fridge, and then finish the other half a bit later. Sometimes I ate raw veggies and I "cheated" once a day and ate a kind bar or a banana when I needed a bit more sustenance. One of the cool things I noticed was that you learn to pace yourself with the juices. You never feel hungry and you never feel stuffed - you always feel "just right". Since you only have 5 to space out throughout the day - you have to listen to your body to see if it's really hungry. I feel like this is a good practice to take with me, even when I'm not juicing. And since your diet is already limited to these few things, it was nice to have a break from wondering what to eat. 3. Cravings - they were gone. I kid you not. I am only human and there where moments at the end of the day when I thought "Man, I really want a beer" or "Damn, Mr. Frostee is coming!" or "Why was I cursed with free food day today???" but those were all triggered emotional empty calorie cravings - not actual need of food cravings since I wasn't actually hungry. Cravings out of habit - which I found interesting. But when there was no stimulus or triggering food - I had no cravings aside from wanting juice. By the end - I didn't crave sweets anymore and normally I have a huge sweet tooth. Also a weird side note - I am not vegan or vegetarian, but I stopped eating meat almost entirely after the cleanse and I don't have any cravings for it anymore which I found interesting. 4. Energy - That is one of the first thing people ask - I had a little bit of coffee in the morning (this is a non-negotiable) - but throughout the day the juices gave me TONS of energy. Steady, day long energy. Maybe it's the natural sugar, maybe it's the special magic in the bottle, but I had more energy, consistently, than I normally have with the workday coffee and post lunch crash. I didn't have any crashes, at all. Also I have a pretty vigorous yoga practice (7am approx. 5x a week) and I had enough energy to do that plus my jobs. 5. Weight - Another big question I get asked. YES, you should lose weight. I lost about 5 pounds doing my normal workouts plus the juice. Likely because I wasn't ingesting any alcohol or fried, fatty or bad food that wasn't getting cleared out of my system immediately. That said, this may be TMI, but your "bathroom" breaks will be regular and satisfactory. I will leave it at that. :) Final Notes: - Everyone at my work has a head cold right except me - coincidence? - Erica is super nice, she gets back to you immediately and reminds you to pick up your juice and when it's dropped off. I live in South Philly and the pick up location happens to be my gym. I love supporting her because she is local and I think the raw pressed juice movement should be accessible to everyone. She also gives you an awesome reusable bag which my kitten promptly turned into a fort (see photo). - Plus, I am addicted to her juice. After the cleanse I ordered an extra 6 bottles and will probably order more again shortly. - I think everyone should try a cleanse at least once - for all of the reasons listed above.

We will certainly be stopping by again to try the full menu.
