My advantage to visiting QT Vietnamese was that I had my Vietnamese co-worker with me who was able to translate and do majority of the talking. The employees were friendly and efficient. I had an idea of what I wanted when I got there. My co-worker and I both got hoagies with tofu so we split our sandwiches and got to try one of each. She ordered the lemongrass tofu and I ordered tofu with mushrooms and onions. Both had mayo on them per our request. I actually preferred the lemongrass tofu! It was extremely appetizing and it wasn't as citrusy as I thought it would be. The tofu with mushrooms and onions was also very good but it was extremely onion forward. All I could taste was onions, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. I wish this place had was more seating. I suppose given the location, space is limited but be prepared as it is tight inside. Recently I went to Philly for some event so I decided to stop by here and grab some Vietnamese sandwiches to go on the way back to NYC. I was hungry so I picked one out of the 6 sandwiches that I got to eat in the car and unfortunately the sandwich that I picked had some unidentifiable objects in there. They were few of them around the bread. They looked like either white fibers or white furs which I couldn't tell exactly what they were. Since I was starving I decided to cut out the bread parts that got the things on and I only ate the stuffing. It's a small mom and pop shop that gets good reviews on Yelp and it's reasonably priced. So I figured I'd give it a shot. Really good bahn mi sandwiches in Chinatown! Very small shop in Chinatown with only 1 table inside. Limited menu, which I love because that means they perfect the food. Ordered the QT special and it had so much flavor. So generous with all of the meat and veggie filling. I loved the baguette, it had the most perfect crunch. They asked if i wanted peppers (jalapenos) on it and I said yes. I did like the spice but if you can't handle heat make sure you request without :) It is a bit of a hole in the wall type place but they seemed friendly. You might have trouble getting their attention when you walk in with the plexiglass and all but it worked out fine. Thanks to all the yelp reviews, I found another gem in Chinatown. In the mood for banh mi? Well, you came to the right shop. I ordered the traditional/dac biet banh mi and the bbq pork banh mi. While waiting, I had the opportunity to speak to the owner who was preparing my order. He seems like a pretty cool guy and is just trying to stay afloat with his business because of the pandemic impact. He also mentioned that his shop is the earliest banh mi shop in the area and has been open for about 10 years. He also has a food truck which drives around the area selling similar items in the shop. In short time of our conversation, my order was done and bagged to go. The banh mi was pretty good. I love the crispy toasted bread/baguette. Portion size is definitely good enough to share for two people.
