Worst experience at a medical/dental office ever. They never submitted to my insurance and billed me full price. I had to go to another provider to get the issue actually fixed. He was disrespectful. I had to have a tooth pulled due to an abscess. The oral surgeon cracked the tooth when pulling it out and left part of the tooth in my gums. He either didn't bother to check or didn't care. When I called their office, I was told the piece of tooth left in my gums would "probably" work its way out. I decided to go to another oral surgeon who told me he had actually left a whole root in my gums and it had to be taken out because it would eventually get infected. He couldn't believe the first surgeon either didn't check or know he had done that. I would NEVER recommend going to this place. Obviously they are horrible at their jobs and don't care. read more

This review was made July 2020. PROS: Nice surgeon. Does nice work. Explains things well. Many years in the business; not a rookie. CONS: This surgeon and his employees have taken a firm stance to not wear masks during the Covid-19 pandemic unless while performing procedures. Other than temperature checking the incoming clients many minutes after arriving, there are no other indications that Covid-19 is a concern in this office. The assistants and receptionist move about freely with no masks on. When asked to put a mask on, the assistant with red hair rolled her eyes. Physical distancing is not exercised. The front desk does not have a plexiglass sneeze guard shield. There are no markings on the floor. None of the chairs have been removed to suggest 6 ft distancing is expected. When asked why CDC health guidelines are not followed, the surgeon refused to explain why, and the surgical assistant (red hair) rolled her eyes twice and became argumentative. She said that because the clients wear masks, there's nothing to worry about. (Is the client still safe when the mask is removed to get work done?) She also said that since they temperature check, that is all they need because they test every week. When asked about asymptomatic clients, she said she was not worried at all. When asked if she was worried her office could spread the virus to patients, she again said that, "Our office is a sterile environment." Fact check: an open door dental office with carpeting is not a sterile environment. read more

Was hesitant to even go after seeing the place. I walked in and no one was at the front desk for about 30 minutes. The surgeon was extremely rude and made you feel like and idiot. The surgeon also did damage to surrounding teeth that could have been avoided as I was told by my local dentist. All I got to say is go elsewhere if at all possible. Discussed details of my insurance, limits, what it would cover up front before Wisdom Tooth Extraction. Was told to pay a particular amount and that should be fine, and if there was an additional cost it would not "be much". I was blindsided several months later with an astronomical bill and an unprofessional, angry sounding message written on it. I'd use the words "extorted" for an additional amount that was double what I had already paid. One charge was for an "unspecified procedure" with zero additional information. Sloppy, unprofessional office that just wants as much money as they can squeeze out of you. No follow up appointments were scheduled, or check in calls were made. I'm just going to be totally honest here... This was the worst experience i've ever had at an dental office. First of al. The office waiting areas looks VERY outdated. The patient room I was seated in was also outdated.. the chair was very uncomfortable. Second of all the blonde lady at the front desk has the worst costumer service skills ever. She just sat there looking at me waiting to be attended. Then when she finally acknowledged me she was very rude with her responses. I'm not sure if she was trying to make me feel like I was stupid for asking questions? However, the Dr. Schieve himself was a very nice person to me... a lot nicer then his staff up front. He went through the procedure with me and what not.. Him and I finished the consultation... he said his goodbyes and he walked me up to the front to the receptionist lady. The lady told me my patient payment portion but never gave me an itemized bill for it. Which I found weird because I had visited some other oral surgeons who did give me an itemized bill before going through with anything else. Eventually I was like ok I will schedule here I guess? and a week before my surgery was scheduled at this office I was able to find another Oral surgeon office who charged me less for my payment portion and provided an itemized bill. The same insurance card was provided both this office and the other office. So it seemed a little off to me. I called to cancel my surgery at this office and when the lady answered the phone she just sounded very annoyed and was rude after I told her the reason for my cancellation. She just said "OK! I had a really good experience w/ this office. I had to have all of my wisdom teeth extracted. I feel like Dr. Scheive has been doing this for a long time & he has a quick & efficient service he provides. If you are looking for a doctor that coddles you & drags things along, then this isn't your guy. I made an appointment for a consultation & they took x-rays. I hadn't had any recently, if you have them, they won't take them again like others might. Dr. Scheive told me what to expect throughout & at the end, the ladies up front told me how much my insurance would pay & my out of pocket cost. I made an appointment for the next available date in my schedule which was about a week later. I paid my portion & had my procedure. My guy & my daughter came to pick me up, & we went home. They called to check on me & see if I had questions. They told me I could call anytime if needed. Luckily, everything went smoothly. I made a follow up, but if you're doing well, it's not necessary. The dentist's assistant was great. She went through & showed me how to really get in & clean my recently extracted areas. She asked if I wanted to see the doctor & I said it wasn't necessary if everything was good. I would give them 5 stars, but my first time there I waited for about 1.5 -2 hours. They had some kind of emergency which I realize wasn't their fault, but I had expected to go back to work. It would've been nice for them to let me know that it was going to be awhile. Also, right before my procedure, I waited 30-45 minutes to go back. I had the day off so it wasn't a big deal for me, but no one likes to wait. I can imagine if you have high anxiety in these situations, waiting probably makes it worse. My follow up appointment was totally different though. I was in & done within 20-30 minutes. Either way, all of my appointments were during the week so I can't say a Saturday would be better or worse. Overall, the experience was really good. We were referred here by our 6 year old daughter's pediatrician, she had a bump on her gums. She was very scared from the X-ray to exam to having her tooth pulled and the entire staff was so helpful making her comfortable and also helping with her younger sister. All in all helped make a scary/painful experience go as smoothly as could've been hoped. read more

I recently went to this office to have my wisdom teeth removed. The office was extremely outdated(everything looked like it was from the 1970s), but we ignored this hoping the money this place makes was being used for other advancements in procedures(I wrote about the blood platelet procedure below). I went in on the same day as my cousin, and we both had the same negative experience. The staff was very nice to both of us, and the assistant that prepped me answered all my questions. The assistant that took care of prepping my cousin couldn't get the iv in and had to make 3 different injections. Dr.schieve seemed nice to me-he didn't say much at all before surgery, just said the teeth would "slide out" and reminded us some vague post op cleaning instructions(my aunt who drove us was told all of the after care expectations ect, I was not told anything regarding how long I would heal, when I could eat ect). I didn't see or hear the doctor in the room because he was gone before I woke up, but my cousin said she hear him comment something along the lines of "feetsies" and proceeded pull down the blanket to cover them(not unprofessional, but definitely creeped her out). Also we were told by our regular dentist that Dr.Schieve specializes in using blood platelets to help speed up the healing process, so we opted to pay extra for this. Not only did this do nothing for either of us but in comparison to everyone else we've talked to(friends, family, ect that have gotten their wisdom teeth removed), we took significantly longer to heal! I had extreme jaw pain about 5 days post op and so I called to talk to the doctor and explain that the whole in my mouth had gotten bigger(although the pain had decreased by the time he called me back), all he told me to do was keep cleaning it. No concern for an infection or the pain. I have no problems with the staff working here, but Dr. Schieve is very unprofessional and the should be under review. read more

Well it started out good then took a little dip, then a plummet. Staff is great!! Maybe a little disorganized as a someone called prior to my appt asking why I had sent copies of my insurance and xrays but ddnt show me as scheduled when I had scheduled the appt & everything. Strike 1! Day of appt...staff is nice, doc is okay. He could use some sensitivity training with the needle as he stabs you in the gums with it..you almost feel unliked. Good thing novecaine works fast. Doc asked if I needed to use the bathroom. I went to be on the safe side then talked a nurse for about 25 minutes as we waited for the doc to show which she wound up having to track him down. He came another 10 minutes later. At this point Im questioning if the meds are starting to wear off alrdy as I can feel that tingling sensation in my lip. Took extraction was smooth. Just as I thought I was abt to feel too much pressure, we were done. Drove 30 minutes back home, stopped to get my script filled. Pharmacist says it's written in the wrong strength and I can't get it corrected unless I drive 30 minutes back to office & get a hard copy because narcotics can't be called in nor faxed in. Can u say disappointed? I ddnt wanna drive back so they told the pharmacist to give me Tylenol3. I don't wanna sleep everyday...every 4 hours. This is my 1st & last visit here...except maybe to get the right script so I can stay awake. read more

Worst experience of my life!!!!! I went to dr sheive for 3 wisdom teeth removal and i ended up in worst shape then before seeing him. During the consultation i was assured i'd be sleeping through whole surgery, well during it i was wide awake moving alot crying it hurt so bad;( After it i was sent home with only pain med. Wk later i was in emense pain so bad i followed up with sheive he assured me all looked ok it will take time to feel better when at this point i couldn't speak throat, jaw, mouth were in alot of chronic pain, as well as a mostly numb tongue;( so two days after this i went over his head cause the pain started traveling up my face to my ears and eyes real bad, so went to my own dentist who noticed a very, very bad infection in my mouth causing the pain. I was told as soon as this was noticed why the surgeon dr sheive didn't prescribe an antibiotic two days prior i said not sure ;( they said i should have gotten a med for this being that he had to have seen the infection just two days prior. Ending result over a wk later i still had no feeling mostly in my tongue, and intense pain over just few teeth extractions!!!! I STAYED FURIOUS PLEASE NOONE SEE THIS DOC FOR ANYTHING THIS SITUATION JUST WASN'T RIGHT!!! VERY BAD BED SIDE MANNER, ABSOLUTELY NOOOO COMMUNICATION after the surgery i called asked a nurse why i wasn't put to sleep like i was told her response "doc made a last minute change to keep you awake due to your health (fibromyalgia, and muscle disease)" i said well i wish he would have told me this there was no communication at all!!
