I walked from my work location to this restaurant looking for quick bite. Its only a 10 min walk and its across from Millennium Park. So its great sites of Chicago to take in. Upon entering, there is a door sign that says "we apologize.. we are short staffed... please bare with us.." so I see there are only 2 ppl in line so I proceed to get in line. Service - The two ladies order their food and move along, I walk up to the counter. The cashier on hand did not greet to say "Welcome to... or What would you like to order..." So I spoke and stated my order, Since no customer greeting was given. They enter the order and tell me how much it was to cost. I pay via swipe and as its been approved. They proceed to take my food items and place them on the counter. No BAG? So I asked, Can I get a bag? They acted the first time as though, I did not state it. So I repeated it. During this interaction, I said anything or presented negative energy or an attitude nor acting in any way towards the cashier. So I sacked my own food in the bag and left. As I was exiting the restaurant, I recapped what just happened. A speechless conversation since primarily I could have had a kiosk to place my menu and greeting before asking me what would I like. Along with, did this person really think I was going to put hot items in my hand? Who thinks like that? What just happened could easily be a situation of a law suit or court case, if it were someone else who just took the food as it was presented. Food - The Mango Peach Pies are AMAZING which is why I came down. I did not want the chicken or other offerings. Being short handed is one thing, but poor customer service skills. Is not an excuse. If I were of the hot blooded 1st nature, that interaction could have turned ugly as there was many infractions being done with no just cause other than what can be summarized as a lazy employee who did not want to be on the register or be at work. I will likely be back to this location, since this is the only place that sells these pies in close prox. But overall, if you are downtown Chicago.. Be leary of this place. Ambiance - It was clean I suppose. I was little annoyed that whomever was emptying the trash cans near the front of the store left one of the cabinet doors open that patrons entering could walk into and/or as exiting it was in the way of the entrance. I don't care what anybody say Jollibee is always a 10 out of 10. It's also best if you go first thing in the morning when they open instead of midday because everything is fresh, I don't think I've ever had anything here that I didn't like or that I wasn't satisfied with, but if you do get something just speak up, let them know. I didn't know this business existed until I saw a some YouTube videos about it. Do I decided to drive up to Chicago to try it out. All I have to say is. BEST FRIED CHICKEN EVER! Slow service over an hour wait. When we got to the front of the line they said they were pausing the line for fifteen minutes. The employees don't seem to help each other. The bottleneck seemed like the cashier with a lot of food in the back ready and available. A register was completely available and they chose to not open it up but rather wait for the single cashier to resolve the transaction issues. So many things could be logistically improved. We enjoyed their Spicy Chicken Sandwich and Fried Chicken with Palabok (rice noodles with pork and shrimp). The spicy mayonnaise sauce on my sandwich was delicious and I believe there were tiny chunks of jalapeño peppers. The Peach Mango pie was my favorite. I could not taste either the banana or langpa in their Banana Langpa pie so I would not order it again. The pies are expensive at $3 each. Their food is pricey for fast food. I've heard a lot of hype surrounding Jollibee, and was, therefore, very surprised to see that downtown Chicago's first location opened just yesterday, right on Michigan Ave across from the Art Institute. I opted for the two piece original fried chicken (or "chickenjoy" as it's known on the menu) and spaghetti combo, which came with a drink (you can pick from the pineapple juice or a regular soda). While the pineapple juice was very good (fresh and not too sweet!), the other items were not as special. The fried chicken, while cooked fine (juicy inside and not dry/overcooked) didn't seem to be any more unique or flavorful compared to what Popeye's offers, save for the provided gravy (although I honestly would have just liked regular ketchup to use as a condiment). The spaghetti on the other hand was not to my taste at all - the sauce had a really off-putting flavor, which I was not expecting at all. For next time, I think I'll just stick with the pineapple juice, which is the standout for me. read more

Jollibee definitely does solid on their fried chicken. They only serve legs and thighs which are the best pieces for fried chicken. Crunchy, flavorful and not overly greasy. I enjoy the Palabok as well. Garlicky, shrimp sauce with some meat over rice noddles topped with some egg and chicharron. When you're going to this location you have to remember you're across the street from Millennium Park so this is heavily trafficked by tourist so the queue may be long and the people may take longer than typical when ordering. The staff seemed to do their best in dealing with the crow and cranking out the orders. It's a typical fast food restaurant so the dining area is no frills. As mentioned, you're across the street from Millennium Park so maybe take your food to go and dine alfresco. read more

We needed a quick bite to eat while we were running errands in the Loop and were lucky enough to spot Jollibee! My boyfriend had heard of Jollibee and had been wanting to try it for a while! We shared the 6-piece chicken and we're able to get 3 spicy and 3 regular. It was nice that we got mostly drumsticks, all dark meat. If you like white meat, you can get chicken tenders. The spicy definitely had a kick, but my boyfriend didn't think it was too spicy. The breading my was nice and crispy. There were no pieces that were so crispy to the point of being inedible. The only possible criticism I have is that the chicken was served very very hot, so we weren't really able to eat it right away. This is probably fine if you're getting take out or aren't looking to eat right away. But be careful not to get burned! We also had a side of mashed potatoes, which were thick and creamy. They seamed to be made from real potatoes because we spotted some potatoes skins. Jollibee seems like a solid spot of fast fried chicken. read more

Didn't get to try the food. I ordered online and it gave me a order ready time about 5 minutes out from the time I ordered. 10 minutes after my order ready time they hadn't called my name so I asked if my order went through and they said just a couple minutes. Another 10 minutes went by so I asked again and they said the same thing. After another 10 minutes I got the manager and just asked them to cancel my order. I wasted 45 minutes for nothing. I'd like to try the food someday but not at this location. Seemed like they were prioritizing uber eats and DoorDash orders. Idk why they even bother giving an order ready time if it is going to be over 30 minutes beyond what they say. Iffy business practices. First, I paid cash and they don't give change back. Their reason-they don't have change. So it's your fault if you pay cash and you don't get your change back. Very slow service, took about 35 minutes for 2 people to pick up carry out meals. One meal was missing the chicken entree, the other (a chicken sandwich) was like 2 patties stuck together, undercooked in the middle, looked more like a beachball than a sandwich. Sadly, 75% of it was inedible. They even have a sign on the door to expect slow service. Combined with the $40 price tag for two meals, I'd say never again. read more

We purchased our order we had a 20 minute wait, no pRobles. However, I went back up to the counter to get our food, and one of the workers was eating fries right out where they dump the fries. She continued to eat them, wiped her face with her hands and then start serving again. The sad part is that the supervisor was right there. Really good food is always cooked fresh while you wait, and I love the burgers, fried chicken, peach mango. Terrible service, attitude, and outright lying to customers. I and a friend went. For two of his orders he was told there would be a 20 minute wait. As he kept giving alternative orders, he was told ten minutes but it still ended up at least 20 minutes. Then when the guy at the register was asked if they had seltzer, he said yes. He was asked twice and it was made clear soda was not wanted. It turned out after charging $3.31, there was no seltzer but only sugary soda or diet soda. Adding insult, the cashier had a bit of an attitude. The tables were also dirty and the back staffing area seemed chaotic. I would never go to this place or take anyone. (I dined at a Philippine one back in the DotCom 90s and have been dying to come back, so I was ecstatic to see this location in Chicago open up! Plus, when I used to watch Anthony Bourdain's CNN series, I fondly remember him raving about his positive dining experience at Jollibee back in the homeland!) The professional young lady who took my order had it ready for me in 5 minutes! The place was clean and offered free WI-FI! I would definitely come back here and order more food! The location on Michigan Avenue across from the Art Institute is an awesome one (since I'm a member there and go there throughout the year!) I've had jollibee a few times now and it is OK. I really do love their spicy fried chickenjoy.Everything else is okay. I'm not a fan of the regular seasoned chickenjoy, it doesn't have much flavor. The spaghetti is pretty decent, and definitely worth trying. Sides are pretty bland, fries are soggy and mash patatos have a weird consistency. The gravy is delicious though. If you're looking for some solid fried chicken, I'd definitely recommend the spicy chickenjoy. read more

My rating is based on the terrible service this place has. My grandson ordered an Aloha chicken sandwich combo with a peach mango pie. After waiting more than 40 minutes for his meal and watching several customers who ordered after him but received their food before him, I inquired about his order. The server pretended to look for it, and then I heard her tell the cashier to print it out. After 1 hour, I asked for the manager who had the order put together and delivered; however, it was going to be an additional 7 minutes for pie. They offered their ubi pie and we refused it. Coming from a Filipino this Jollibee is not up to it's standards. I waiting over an hour to get my food and it did not taste as good as the other locations. My yum burgers were cold and they did not put any sauce and just slapped them on there. I understand that they were really busy but 1 hour for a 6 piece chicken and burger is ridiculous! This location is just horrible and the staff is not helpful and rude. As a proud Filipino I'm disappointed! The fact that this location is next to the Filipino embassy is sad.
