I'm from California and stayed in Chicago for a conference. I was situated right across a potbellies and ate there almost everyday. I'm still grieving the fact there are none in Cali I loved the Turkey sandwich with everything including the hot peppers. It's honestly a CRIME we don't have any on the West coast, it's been a month since I was there and I still think about that damn sandwich. Their chili was pretty damn good too. We were so hungry, forgot to take pics..., but can tell you the AVO Turkey sandwich was great - turkey, avocado, swiss cheese, tomato & mayo on a multigrain bun. The turkey is cut from a breast and not deli. The BLTA was very good as well-blt with avocado. Very efficient process in preparing the sandwiches. Was about 12 people in line, but it went fast. This Potbelly shop should be shut down. I have never had a worse customer service experience than at this business! I am a loyal customer and order A LOT from Potbelly. I am a constant Potbelly app user and have only had issues with this location with on-time delivery and answering their phones. My last online delivery order was 40 minutes late and they delivered me the wrong food. I have been refunded a total of 5 times from this location due to their terrible service. The manager I have spoken to there is not very friendly, and never apologizes for the late deliveries/delay. I wish the app would stop defaulting to this shop. My current order I placed today I didn't realize went to this shop. I called them 6 times and literally let the phone ring until it cut off. I never received my food. I love potbelly, but I recently ate at this location and received pretty terrible service. The woman working rushed us and demanded we pay while I was talking with the other employee making my sandwich regarding the toppings I would like. She also interrupted her coworkers to say rude interjections while I was asking questions/ordering and in general had a very harsh tone with us. I heard her being nice to other patrons, and it seemed fairly obvious that her rudeness was racially motivated. It is extremely unlikely that I will ever support another potbelly after this unfortunate experience. The woman seemed to be a manager. Terrible service. I ordered a VEGETARIAN mediterranean and then got a chicken one. I told them (and they did remake the sandwich which was super nice). I was hoping to get like a bag of chips or something for free (which obviously their right to refuse) but they said no on the grounds that it was my fault for not telling him to make it vegetarian. To be clear, I told him 3 times, even after I saw him put chicken on to confirm that he knew it was vegetarian. And okay let's say it was my fault but to then yell at me about in is just not okay. I love cozy sandwich shops. I love Printer's Row. I love Nantucket Nectars. I'm a history buff who likes old print material, and I usually take the train into the city. This Potbelly location is like a vortex of stuff that makes me happy. I can get off at the LaSalle blue line, walk over here, grab a meal, and continue on foot to another destination. The staff is friendly, they have live music on occasion, and yes, this location is one that has breakfast! Not all Potbelly stores serve it or are even open that early. This probably explains why this one always has plenty of OJ in the beverage case. One thing I would like to see different here: cleaner tables. The staff are not as on top of wiping down after customers leave as they should be. On two occasions I have set my book down in a puddle of soup that I didn't see because its color matched the table. Still, it's no worse than at some of the other nearby Potbelly locations, which also tend to be busier and therefore messier. (I'm looking at you, State and Lake Potbelly, with your mayo-coated napkin dispensers and Art Institute Potbelly, with your lettuce explosion chairs.) It's also not as bad as Subway, where I sometimes suspect the tables get cleaned twice a day--once at opening, and again at closing. Bottom line: this is an improvement over many other fast food options in the area. It beats most competitors, too. Get your sandwich here and tell Wabash Subway to eat your dust. read more

Awesome sandwiches! For under 5$ you get a good size sandwich, and DANG is it tasty. I had the Italian, the hubby had the Wreck and they were both wonderful. The bread is not too overwhelming, I hate having to fight a piece of bread to get to the good stuff. The veggies, sauce and meat are all high quality and in good portions. The loaded baked potato soup was about $4 for a large portion and it was super creamy and delicious. The staff was nice, service was quick. Potbelly tops any subway, Quiznos or Togo's I have ever been to. I would say besides a real deli sandwich, this is the best you can get. read more

I came in here for a late lunch on Saturday to fortify me for the rest of my errands. I had never been to this location of Potbelly on Printer's Row. The menu was standard- I went with the roast beef original on flatbread- but I felt that that service really put this location over the top. From the order taker, to the person crafting the sandwiches, to the cashier, everyone was across-the-board competent and pleasant. The restaurant itself is laid out nicely, with ample seating. I am sure this location will be a veritable mosh pit next weekend, when Printer's Row comes to town, so I am glad that I had the chance to scope it out and enjoy a bite of lunch before then. Stopped in for lunch on a blazingly hot day. I normally gravitate toward the excellent toasted grinder sandwiches whenever I visit one of the Potbelly Sandwich Shops (it's a mini chain, started in the late 1970's on Lincoln near Belden in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood). But it was so blasted hot outside (103 in the shade) all I wanted was a cool salad, a bottle of cold Nantucket Nectars lemonade and a chance to soak up as much air conditioning as I could. I opted for the excellent "farmhouse" salad, a variation on a chef's salad, with lettuce, chicken, bacon, crumbled hard cooked egg, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion and crumbled bleu cheese for extra tanginess. I chose the "Potbelly vinaigrette"--couldn't tell you exactly how this differs from standard vinaigrette, but it was good. The line at the counter was long, as it is at any Potbelly's at lunchtime, but it moved quickly. The salad was assembled in front of me, and not premade, a nice touch. There were enough booths and tables to accomodate the crowd. I didn't see the usual Potbelly second floor seating or an area for live musicians, so this outpost may be slightly smaller than the Lincoln Park or Evanston shops I frequent more often. read more

It was 2pm ish and I hadn't eaten all day. It was right next door so I thought I'd check it out. Way cool. for under $7 I got a can of diet coke and on a wheat roll a ham & swiss plus bacon + mushrooms (an extra fiddy cent each) then topped with mustard, hot peppers, diced onions and tomatoes. Simple but awesome. The sandwich artists were very polite, the second one was even like "oh damn dude, that smells good even" and the cashier even after I paid offered and extra bag to hold the sammie and can of coke (I had a backpack on and was gonna hop a cab). Came here for lunch with my husband who raves about this place. Unfortunately, I was not hungry enough for a sandwich so I opted for chili and a cookie instead. The chili was awesome. It was chunky just the way I like it and served at a perfect temperature. Also, I was given a good amount of crackers to put in the chili. The cookie was great as well. It was oatmeal chocolate chip (which is my favorite but is so hard to find!) and it was so good! It was perfectly baked so that it was soft. Only wish they had coffee to eat with the cookie! Damn good sarnies!! Eat here for a nice sandwich with plenty of choices for a decent lunch with a classic styled cafe /deli feel. Have vegetarian friendly choices too. In spite of the affordable menu the three locations I have visited actually have all provides a pleasurable dining experience and atmosphere. The sandwich comes warm...Yum! The bread has the perfect light crispy texture to the crust and inside the different sandwiches have had nice overall flavor. I always add the hot giardinera it's delicious! Helpful staff every time and condiments that are fresh. Great for a quickie lunch that's delicious. :) read more
