Luna came into the vet lethargic, not being able to walk properly and she also had some tooth pain. we told the vet how she was acting and they brought her back and checked her out. we agreed on doing blood work and that took about 4 hours (that's fine) and we got a call when she was almost done to come back so we did. the receptionist kept telling us the doctor knew we were there and a hour and a half later the doctor brought us back and said "sorry, nobody told me you were here" so not sure wtf was going on there. the doctor told us they gave her pain medicine and checked her vitals and that everything looked good and normal and her bloodwork was normal. they gave us gabapentin for her and sent us home and said she will be lethargic but overall she will be fine. so tell me why, monday, april 13th we take her to another vet who looked at Luna for 5 minutes, noticed Lunas back legs were cold and finally said "yup, it most likely is blood clots" and we had to make a decision. spend 10k on treatment just for her to never be the same again or put her down right then and there. all day sunday we could have spent the entire day with Luna and cuddling her. instead she was stuck in a hospital who truly didn't care about her. if you have any concern for your animal please go to the Southside Animal Hospital. they were amazing

I called Michigan State because they're supposed to be some of the best. The company that did the MRI prescribed steroids to shrink the tumor telling us it will probably extend his life by about two months without the treatment. There's other places that do it, but it would be about two weeks until the consultation. Michigan State said about two months. Two months when my dog's life expectancy is two months. By then, it will be way too late.

I got her when I was 11 years old and we have grown up together, so she is very very important to me. In 2013 her brother, who lives with my parents, died very suddenly of kidney failure. I immediately brought my cat to the closest vet when I moved to East Lansing with her, which happened to be Abbott Road. She at first tested to be in good health but about 8 months later she started vomiting all the time and basically stopped eating. We had been getting ready to go on vacation when this started and I had to rush her in about 3 days before we were going to leave. I almost cancelled my trip but Abbott Road saved the day. They did blood work and found that she did indeed have the early stages of kidney failure. They also offered to board her while I was out of town and give her all the medications she needed to feel comfortable again. They just charged me for boarding but she was essentially given a 5-day hospital visit to get her back in good health. When I came back from my trip, the vet explained to me what medications she would need and how to best go about making her comfortable and healthy for the months or years to come. This was in February of 2015. It is now November and my cat is doing better than ever. She has made a complete turnaround from the lethargic, vomiting, skinny cat she was in the spring back to a playful, healthy, happy cat. I cannot thank the vets and staff at Abbott Road enough. Everyone there is wonderful and so kind to my cat. I've seen both Dr. Missy and Dr. Mary, but recently only Dr. Missy and she is so fantastic. She understands that my cat is old and never tries to push unnecessary procedures. She has commended me multiple times for taking good care of my cat, something vets never do, but that really means a lot. I'm so sad to be moving, as I don't know that I'll find another vet that can compare. We will miss you Abbott Road!

Yoder and Mortimer and the team at ELVC went beyond all expectations in the final exam to give me the information, evaluation, recommendation and reasons to be able to make an informed and compassionate decision about ending our beloved family dog's suffering. I was apprehensive about the procedure as well as upset and scared about being tasked by the family to manage her end-of-life care. All my concerns and questions were addressed with such kindness, attention and patience that I was able to achieve peace and confidence in moving forward. The waves of denial and dread that night disappeared when we were received at the clinic the next day. We were given support, privacy and respect in a way that made me feel comfortable expressing myself and creating last moments for our dear one and ourselves. More importantly, the individual attention and gentle handling of our little dog soothed my soul as I could see how calm she was. We were given all the time we needed in a safe and supportive environment to hold, pet, kiss, speak to, and perform last rites at every stage of the process. And as sad as I was, there was also an uplifting feeling from being enabled to create a loving ceremony without pressure, rush or judgment. I was able to leave the clinic with minimal anxiety, knowing that she was in the hands of people whom I considered to be true healers and caregivers of animals and people as demonstrated consistently over time through their words, communications, actions and behaviors. There is more value in experiencing this kind of human trust than anything else I can think of. I would not hesitate to recommend ELVC to any pet owner based on every human/animal interaction I've personally experienced as a client, or observed while in the waiting room or front desk.

We called them and explained to Christine, the receptionist, the situation With our dog and explained that Cheey was not a patient of theirs. They were more than willing to assist and told us to come in as soon as possible. Upon arrival one of their employees, Lowell, came out to help assist carry our 75 pound dog into the clinic. The staff and vet, Gail Wolfe, greeted us immediately and we explained what had happened. Before getting into too much detail I was very impressed that the Dr. Wolfe stopped the conversation to introduce herself and to completely calm the situation. She had a magnificent demeanor and kept us calm throughout the entire examination and treatment. She covered all possible test And examined him thoroughly. Her staff member, Lowell, assisted in catching some unusual fluttering of Chewy's eyes, which helped in making the final prognosis. She was quite knowledgeable in determining that our dog may be suffering from vestibular disease, also known as old dog disease. She was encouraging with treatment for him before making any other major decisions. She thoroughly explained all of the medications and what the hopeful outcome would be after administering them. I honestly have to say between her calming demeanor and knowledge in making her diagnosis, I have never experienced a more professional experience with a vet. We were not Clients of hers before this, but we will certainly continue to use her. We could not have found a more compassionate and knowledgeable Vet.
