We chartered the sailboat for a 2 hour cruise for my birthday! It was great for our group of 5 women. We brought wine and charcuterie board supplies, and Captain Max had ice waiting for us. The boat was easy to find and we didn't have to worry about a thing while out on the water. The weather was perfect; not too windy from 1-3pm, but enough to get the sails up. Highly recommend to anyone looking to do something a little different for any kind of celebration! A few of us were worried about possible sea sickness, but no one had any issues. It was perfect!

For my daughter's 17th birthday we booked with jolly sailing. She invited 5 of her friends and they had the best time ever. Beautiful weather, music, snacks and great vibes. Captain Max was awesome. The Perfect birthday celebration for my teen. 10 out of 10 highly recommend!

Jolly Sailing! OMG what an experience. Captain Max was very professional and punctual. He's not only a highly skilled sailor, but also a fantastic host. We had the best panoramic view of Long Beach on such a gorgeous day. Highly recommend booking with Jolly Sailing!

Captain Max was a great host on his beautiful sailboat. As a first time "sailor" Max was very patient with all of my questions. He pointed out some great sights that I wouldn't see from shore. The 2-hour sailing tour was on a beautiful day and was a relaxing way to see Long Beach Harbor. If you are in the Long Beach area, schedule your adventure with Max, he will take good care of you.

Booked Max's boat for a birthday and had a great time. We are lightweights in terms of sea sickness, but Max was quick to help us out the best he could to make us feel comfortable. Sea sickness aside...We still had a great time and we'd highly recommend you book his boat. It rules to be out in the water and see Long Beach from a different view. Also...if you skate, max has some great stories about skateboarding!

I can't express how great our experience was. I was proposing to my girlfriend and Captain Roger set it up great. He was absolutely wonderful and very knowledgeable. He met us at the gate with a smile and that smile never left. He was always asking if there was anything we needed. The sailboat was an awesome experience and well maintained. At the end we met the owners and they were absolutely delightful and even asked if she said yes (side note she said yes ). We absolutely recommend Jolly sailing and if you can request a captain don't hesitate to ask for Captain Roger.

My wife got me a sailing experience for our anniversary last year and we were finally able to take the trip this weekend. Great experience! Max is fun and knowledgeable about sailing the the local area. His boat is clean and comfortable and my wife, son and I took turns navigating the boat while under Max's supervision. I highly recommend this experience to seasoned sailor or novices. I do suggest arriving early for parking on the weekends. We went on Mother's Day and we had to park quite a bit away. Luckily, we still got a full sailing experience.

Complimentary Polaroid courtesy of Captain Max. Such a simple yet thoughtful take away!

Our bachelorette crew spent four days traveling all along the coast of California, and this sailing experience was hands down the best part of our trip. (I waited until the end of our trip to make sure this would ring true.) Max, our Captain, was so welcoming and considerate when it came to personalizing the ride. We were able to bring our own food and drinks and for the things we forgot, Max offered them instantly! Such a relaxing experience yet still so enjoyable. If and when we find ourselves in the area again, we are definitely looking forward to sailing again!

I booked a trip with Jolly Sailing for 4 and went out on the water with my boyfriend and grandparents! We had the best time and Max was a great captain. So knowledgeable about the area, nice to chat with, and let my grandpa help steer a bit who used to go sailing all the time. It was a lovely and nostalgic trip for us. Couldn't recommend more and can't wait to book another sail.

Definitely recommend the jolly sailing max you were so welcoming THANK YOU for this experience!! Me and my fiancé had so much fun it was so peaceful and romantic just sitting in the front eating our sandwiches also thank you for letting me play my playlist :) I took my fiancé for his birthday cause he loves the water but I normally get sea sick but max did a great job I didn't get sea sick at all , he placed blankets and pillows for us which was a plus to just relax and lay down and hear the ocean and have the sun hit our faces . It was great weather not to hot not to cold .From beginning to end it was a 10/10 our first sail boat and my fiancé loved it . Thank you again max we will definitely be seeing you again

Amazing time. Our caption took the time to set up an amazing little celebration for my 25th birthday with pillows and blankets - made us feel so welcome. Highly recommend for your sailing adventures and such an easy breezy experience. His boat is so great and can fit a good amount of people. Check this small business out and support for your next celebration or adventure!

If I could give Max and Jolly Sailing 10 stars I would. Not only was Max the most kind, accommodating and professional Captain to our very special sailing outing, he chose the coolest place for us to anchor, have our lunch and take countless photos. Max also took the time to tell us about his sailboat, the sites and the awesome sailing competitions that we were graced to see. Thanks again Max. All the best!

Captain Max was a great host and made the experience educational as well as it was our first time on a sailboat.

Whenever we have family or friends visiting from out of state or overseas, it's one of our favorite activities because it's a relaxing way to see the Port of Long Beach, the Queen Mary, and, if you're lucky, the sea lions. We brought another group yesterday, and everyone enjoyed the tour. The only downside, in my opinion, is the boats used for the harbor tour. Yesterday we were on the Kristina, and in the past we've also been on the Caroline, which we chartered for my mother's ash-scattering ceremony about 14 years ago. Both vessels are showing their age. I also think the marketing could be clearer. The photos on the website and many travel sites prominently feature the newer catamarans, which gives the impression that those are the boats used for the harbor tour. I actually called ahead to ask and learned that the harbor tours use different vessels. While I appreciated getting the correct information, many first-time visitors probably wouldn't think to ask and may expect the newer boats shown in the advertising. The harbor tour itself is still worthwhile, and we'll likely continue bringing our guests because we genuinely enjoy the experience. I just hope Harbor Breeze considers updating or refurbishing the harbor tour vessels and making the marketing a little clearer so guests know exactly what to expect.

I have to…read moresay it's difficult for me to write this review as my family and I were very much looking forward to spending a beautiful day on the bait to celebrate my dads birthday. And all though we still made the best of it it really did not live up to what was promised and the amount of money we paid. So let's start with m: 1. The address did not match what was listed on their Yelp page and created a lot of confusion and frustration especially since we had kids with us. I had to text the owner, Mario, and he gave us another location to charter form which was not at all what was listed on their page. 2. Not sure if the captain of the day,Noah, was having a bad day or what but he was definitely not in the mood to greet us properly. He was very short, not so friendly and barely spoke to us during our ride. 3. The boat was not like the photos they presented or posted on Yelp. I even texted the owner and asked him to send me a few photos of what the boat will look like. It was definitely dirty, the coaches were so damaged and dirty they had black clothes over them. One of inside couches was wet, my uncle sat on it unknowingly making his pants wet and him uncomfortable for the rest of the ride. 4. The table surfaces were all damaged & chipped. We had to be careful for the kids not to get splinters when they would approach the table to grab something to eat. 5. Worst of it all was that we only watched cargo shipments for 2 hours!! On our phone call with Mario mentioned we can go through the canals and even get a far glimpse of the Queen Mary but we didn't. We even asked Noah to take us the other way around into the open water and he said no he needs to this way first (meaning by the cargo shipments). It was very disappointing since it was my dads actual birthday and the experience was completely robbed from us. It's very sad that we wasted over a thousand dollars and didn't receive what we had paid for. And I even texted Mario afterwards telling him our concerns but didn't get a reply back. Poor customer service.

And they're phasing out their most powerful boat, the 75hp, because of too much abuse and the associated high insurance costs. But they still offer the 40hp boat and that has plenty of power, with a top speed of about 20 knots. It comfortably seats 4 people in designated seats, but can fit an extra two people sitting up front sideways on bench seating. I had a great time. I saw seals sunbathing on the buoys, and I even saw dolphins near the first oil rig island by the Queen Mary ship. Of course you can also get a nice close-up view of the Queen Mary itself. You're allowed to go almost to the Seal Beach Municipal Pier, but not quite. 1hr duration is enough if you want to do a quick single lap of the designated ocean area. 2hrs is highly recommend if you want to take your time and not be rushed. Be sure to bring a light jacket, hat, and sunglasses to protect yourself from the wind and sun. The designated driver is not allowed to drink. I'm not sure if the rest of the guests are allowed to drink. Park near the Yard House restaurant and then walk to the back of the restaurant and you'll see the little hut with the staff in it. If nobody is there then look over the edge to the docked boats because the staff might be down there instead.
