As soon as you enter, there is an incredible aroma of delicious vegan food that draws you in. I went there with a friend for the first time a couple of months ago. The young lady who works the counter has such an adorable smile, you can't help but feel welcomed. The food is also just so fresh and delicious. I couldn't get enough. Oh! It hurt me to give this place one star, as I am a brown girl that is an avid supporter of black-owned businesses. However, I was thoroughly disappointed in the dessert options provided. I called prior to arriving at the Lawton St. restaurant, asking about the selection of desserts (when the sweet tooth craving calls, I must answer) and was informed by the owner that there were selections of deserts at said location. Upon arrival, I met the owner and he informed me that there was chocolate cake available. I ordered it and it took about 5-7 minutes for him to retrieve the cake from the back. Not sure why it took so long, but it seemed as if the cake had been tucked away in the back. No displays of cakes or other desserts in the front. I'm aware it is more of a "sit-down" restaurant, so I wasn't as concerned about that not being available. When he came back, he gave it to me in a container and charged me nearly 5 dollars for a small piece of dense, cold vegan chocolate cake. I did not want to complain because again, I try to support black businesses, but I sensed that he knew it was not acceptable for him to give me that slice for that outrageous price. I tasted the cake and was underwhelmed. I took my talents to Whole Foods and satisfied my New Year's Eve sweet tooth. I have patronized plenty of black-owned vegan establishments, from Veggie Castle in Queens, to Seasoned Vegan in Harlem, and I have NEVER left unsatisfied by their dessert options. I will not be going back. I live in the Bronx and I understand the need for vegan friendly options, but I would rather travel all the way to Queens to get my monies worth over convenience and disappointment. read more

I'm so happy to have found out about Jolo's. The food here is amazing--very fresh ingredients and everything is beautifully seasoned. It had been years since I had a beef patty and it made my day as a vegetarian to be able to have one again! Everything from the pastry to the seasoning within it was incredible. I also had the "rib" wrap which was super convincing to me (granted its been like 10 years since I've had ribs, but still!). The sides are great too (definitely try the Mac n cheese), and so are the desserts. Everyone who works there is so nice, helpful and friendly too! This is one of my favorite places in New Rochelle and Im not even a vegetarian. But they have several dishes I just end up craving on a regular basis. My favorite is the avacado salad and the goddess dressing it comes with...add the vegan chicken and all that fresh flavor just makes everything right. Then they have this amazing vegan ginger chicken stir fry plate. I get it with the rice and greens. The food is so good I started to substitute eatting meat for eating here a few times a week until finally started to make my own salad. The onky thing I can't get down is that goddess dressing. (They so need to just sell me a bottle). I often find my self needing the raw ginger beer juice or a ginger root shot as it eases some of the pains I suffer from regularly. Service is always great and the atmosphere is cozy, very welcoming and comforting. My daughters have favorites here as well. So it's kid approved. 1 loves the vegan burger and the other loves the mac n cheese... both love the nuggets. I've been a long time customer of the original location. Just recently experienced my 2nd dine-in experience at this location! The food is excellent. One star off for dessert. I had a very tiny piece of cold, dry and hard chocolate cake for $4. I would suggest marketing it as a dessert tasting for the amount given OR pumping it up with a larger triangular slice, vegan whipped cream, fresh berries and powdered sugar on top. There is hardly anywhere for vegan dessert in lower Westchester so Jolo's has the opportunity to shine here. Even carrying vegan ice cream would be good. I would also suggest adding a daily menu board that lists what patties and desserts are available. Otherwise the young man working has to run back and forth to the kitchen each time to find out when asked. My salad came after my sandwich. It is also very cold in the restaurant. I appreciate that there's a Black owned vegan restaurant in New Rochelle and I try to patronize Black owned businesses as much as possible. I've been to both Jolo locations many times over the course of a few years. The food is usually good. But this past Saturday I went and the food was very bland and underwhelming. Sometimes restaurants have off days which I understand. However made this visit even more unpleasant was the customer service, or lack thereof. The young man working behind the counter was rude and unhelpful. He didn't bother to greet us and When my boyfriend asked him for a menu or what food options that were displayed he said something like "they're all vegetables". Which is obvious considering it's a vegan restaurant! Then a lady that came out from the back was unhelpful as well. We asked her what the food options were and her response was " I just got here ". Absolutely unacceptable ! There were no signs describing what any of the dishes were so how the hell were we supposed to know?! She also didn't greet us and showed absolutely no enthusiasm or interest in helping us. I've experienced poor service at the other location as well. Very slow waiter service and also the servers lack of knowledge of the menu. I really hope the service here improves. Especially since it's the only Black vegan restaurant in the area. Jolo please give your staff a very much needed customer service training. They need it! read more

This was my fist time here and the food was really good. I also ordered a patty. I wanted a jerk patty but since they were all out I settled on a fish patty. I also had a spicy red juice but they were out of ginger.I would definitely return again to try other options. My only complaint is that I feel in restaurants that everyone should be wearing masks.
