These guys are insanely expensive. I met with John, went through everything, didn't hear back and got a call at 9pm the day before he's telling me he can come by. One part of the job he mentioned could be $550 and the other parts were much easier than that so I assumed a few hundred more, tops. Additionally, I specifically asked that they write a proposal for the third thing if it was going to be more than $200 as I would have to think about it. I was going to be hiking that day so I told him I wouldn't have great signal and that I wasn't sure if it was a good day. He ended up coming anyway but sent his guys and then he called for a run down of the work I needed done (and of course, I had not much signal and was trying to enjoy nature so this was frustrating). I checked in around 12pm to see what was happening and there was an issue where the $550 ish part -install a heavy light fixture in the dining room- couldn't be completed as desired so they were going to just put a modern light box in and not hang the light (which was apparently missing parts). So now, I'm expecting the price to be much lower since the most expensive thing couldn't be completed. Also, this was the only part of the job that required two people, so I was paying the 2 person rate all day while turns out, I didn't even need two people (difference is something like $55 / hr). I checked in around 2pm, John has no update since he's not on the job. Now I'm getting nervous because I have no way of knowing what time they got there or what time they are leaving. Here we are 3 weeks later and I'm just getting a bill for well over $1,000 and the light isn't even hung and they didn't install this bar that was supposed to allow me to hang a heavy light there when I purchase a new light. $170 / hr is the highest I've seen in this area and they definitely weren't any faster than anyone else nor more professional. I absolutely would not use them again on an hourly basis. read more

This is the second job Jolt has done at my residence. The first was to have a heating unit installed in my basement. Both of the electricians were excellent. The job was done quickly and the work site left quite clean. In addition, both me found outside outlets that were out of code. They showed me and replaced them. The second job John (the owner) came to install dimmer switches, an outlet in the basement and a motion sensor light outside. John did a fantastic job. Not only did he install everything exactly as he said he would, but he also located several additional code issues-one potentially very dangerous-and repaired them. I found Jolt to be an excellent service. The price is very reasonable, the quality excellent and the staff professional and affable. My uncle has been in the home improvement industry for more than 30 years, and he's never seen a more tidy, efficient and impressive electric contracting business. Everything about our experience with John and Jolt Electric was fantastic. From the initial evaluation and pre-project scope of work through to the job execution and billing, Jolt Electric surpassed our expectations, impressed us with professionalism and overwhelmed us with value. Also worth noting, it says on Jolt's website -- Please feel free to give us a call. We will actually answer the phone! -- and that couldn't be more true. From the first time I called John, to the weeks leading up to us actually closing on our home, he answered the phone each time, and was careful and calculated in the counsel he provided. Our project was unique in that we had to remove knob and tube wiring in a mixed wiring home. The Jolt Electric team is well versed in all wiring, and we were extremely happy to learn how well John and his team are in removing knob and tube as a weatherization barrier to utilize the Mass Save program to insulate the home. We are now graduated through the Mass Save/ CLEAResult program thanks to Jolt Electric. Additionally worth noting, we found the lead electrician on our project Keith to be extremely knowledgeable, respectful and responsive. We trusted Keith and his helper to come and go from the home via a lockbox, and Keith would call with any minor snag he hit or question he wanted to clarify with us. Keith is the sort of consummate professional you want working on important work like the electrical in your home! Last, we found the scope of work pricing fair, and were happy to discover that our final bill -- albeit with several project additions (my wife and I couldn't help ourselves) -- was nearly exact to what the original scope of work price was. I've also really grown to appreciate Jolt's owner John Stavaridis as a person. He's an honest man, a family guy and truly has been a pleasure to have in our home interacting with us, our dog and our young daughter (nearly 2 years old). You're lucky you found Jolt Electric. Jolt Electric replaced all of the knob & tube wiring in my house in Salem. It was a pretty big job. They also installed flat screen TV mounts and wired the TVs so everything was hidden.
