My experience is very much the same as what Josh P. wrote. I had State Farm insurance ever since I started driving 14 years ago. I had the most amazing agent back in Colorado (Sharon Younie). She actively worked to ensure I had the best deal on my insurance, while maintaining the level of coverage that was right for me. My wife and I recently moved to California and had to switch agents. I emailed Mr. Barron's office while in the hectic process of moving to get the policy transferred out from Colorado to California. I assumed this would be a straight forward, simple process with a minor policy price increase due to moving to a bigger city. This was not the case. The process took almost 3 weeks from my first inquiry email to when I finally had the policy paid for. When I finally settled down and took a look at the coverage, multiple different line items were different... the coverage was not copied over from what I had in Colorado, and the deductibles were all messed up. Not to mention my wife had a small no fault fender bender a year ago that the agent's assistant kept insisting that my wife was at fault for. Once I got them to fix the policy, the final cost was nearly double what I was paying in Colorado. I later complained to my Colorado agent while I was transferring over a jewelry policy which I believe tipped off Mr. Barron's office that I was upset. They called me and wanted to schedule a sit down to discuss my policy and see if we could improve my rate. I appreciate the opportunity, but they insisted that both me and my wife come into the office so they could "get to know us better". We are busy people and don't have time to come in on a Saturday or afternoon just to negotiate a better insurance policy. Today I shopped around and found a comparable policy with another company for literally $300 cheaper... almost 40% lower than what I was paying. I have no doubt that State Farm would have matched my new policy's rate, but I don't appreciate that I have to first complain to stop getting gouged. That being said, I'm still keeping my Jewelry and Rental policy with State Farm for the time being since those prices are actually quite reasonable. read more

This agent is tactful and knows how to help a client see financial reality clearly. He knows that telling the truth up front will gain a clients' respect and trust, which was refreshing. After my auto accident I turned to Jon and State Farm for help, I regret ever walking into that office. Jon was ineffective and clearly the wrong person to turn to in time of need, a peculiar trait for a person who should have experience in that field. Anyone can go over a policy and sell you something, I'm sure he's quite charming and good at that. But when you file a claim, and you need honest help, Jon is the last one to lift a finger. Jon took a whole day to tell me he didn't have an answer. He made excuses that were totally inappropriate and made it clear he had more important things to do than answer me. He made no effort to work with me outside of business hours despite a sign on the door to the contrary. Jon provided no guidance or help while I spent a month navigating State Farms claims process for the first time. I had the misfortune of getting answers that were wrong, inaccurate, misleading, and outright lies from both his office and the claims department that was undergoing a transition, and being educated on a new system. One week my car was being fixed, next week a new estimate, next week totaled, I was being jerked around, and Jon made no effort to really do anything at all. My car was old, and the damage exceeded the limit to be fixed. The most egregious thing Jon did in the end was to not inform me that by releasing my car, my car insurance ended. A fact I knew, but was disappointed that at the final moment an insurance agent couldn't even be bothered to try and sell me insurance. Please find another agent who will value you as a customer before you learn the hard way that Jon just isn't there. read more

What a terrible agent, I have been with State Farm for 10 years, recently moved and had to change state policy's. John and his agents stated "we don't do many state policy changes". And that this was a difficult situation. He couldn't get my bill straight, tried to over charge me, didn't refund my credit from my previous plan. Just a terrible experience. They have a lot of flexibility with billing and payment options. I also really like the fact that they are available on Saturdays, because I work during the week. They also do regular insurance reviews. When I sat down with the agent I found out this meeting was very useful and helpful.
