Not having to pack up 2 kids & the husband during traffic is a Plus!!! Now here's what we feel about Jonathan... 1) Easy going!!! Not pushy at All!!! After our last NY Life agent left the business for family reasons, we were in search of a new rep. I tried talking to a few different agents at the San Mateo NY Life office - all professional but none that seemed to be as helpful or knowledgeable as our last guy. When it came time to buy another policy I couldn't bare to give my business to a so-so agent, where every question I had felt like pulling teeth. When you're paying thousands of dollars for life insurance, you want to know that the person who's handling your policies knows the business inside and out so that you're getting security that's the right fit for your family. I shouldn't have to explain to an agent why I want to backdate a new policy by a few months right?! So I jumped on trusty Yelp and found Jonathan. From the first phone call, I knew Jonathan was it - he's super professional and knows his stuff. He listens to what we want, doesn't oversell, and is a genuinely nice and personable guy to deal with. I'd give him an extra star if I could for his willingness to drive an hour away to where we live with zero hesitation and a smile on his face. Jonathan was referred to me by someone I trust. I'm a 32 year old single mom with a little boy so as you can imagine, it's imperative that I have life insurance. Jonathan gets our undying (haha) support for his unrelenting positivity, professionalism, personableness, and willingness to drive to our home repeatedly for late-evening meetings. He also put up with all my engineer husband's extremely technical questions very graciously, many of which involved math, and the level of which Jonathan said he had never dealt with before. Jonathan responded to my husband's quizzing by bringing in a more senior, mathy expert to help (ALSO for a late-evening meeting), which I thought was commendable. He wasn't able to answer every question but he went the extra mile to put my husband's mind at ease, which, believe me, can be a LONG mile. Four and a half stars due to his insistence on how good an investment life insurance can be compared to other options without completely watertight reasoning behind it (we disagree and thought this was slightly disingenuous but forgivable, and we bought a lot of insurance from him regardless). After meeting with Jonathan I knew he had been doing this a long time. Not only is he knowledgeable but he also took a look at my current situation and my goals for retirement. Who knew life insurance could have anything to do with retirement!! A few weeks after setting up my new account with him I called to ask if getting life insurance through my company was a good idea because it seems so cheap. He asked me how much they were charging and how much the coverage was. I was seriously enlightened... first he said that the life insurance through my company was not portable meaning if I leave that company I leave the life insurance and the money I put into it and it was way over priced!!! Buying life insurance is never a fun task. Jonathan provides incredibly personal and dedicated service. While I expected "the usual" from a life insurance renewal (meaning markedly higher rates and being treated like a number) what I found what the exact opposite! Not only did Jonathan treat me like a PERSON first rather than a number or dollar sign, he actually worked to get me a better rate on my insurance that I had going INTO the transaction!
