Personally, I haven't had surgery by Dr. Glashow. However, NBA player Joel Embiid was on the cusp of being "washed", meaning his athletic abilities were diminishing as he constantly found himself getting injured. I don't say this lightly, but Dr. Glashow FIXED Embiid's knees. He has had at least 6 knee injuries, and yet the missing piece was Jonathon Glashow. YOU have changed my life. I don't know if I could ever repay you, but I just want you to know how much you are appreciated, loved and considered the "MVP" of Philadelphia. Even Kawhi Leonard, another NBA star that Glashow performed surgery on, looks incredible. I didn't even get a chance to meet the doctor or get care. I made an initial inquiry. Asked a very basic question about cost. Ball park. Worst case/best case, etc. Make assumptions. Or even just pick the last simiar case. How much approximately will the procedure cost? Basically they want you to come in, take hours off work, and drop $500. And then? Maybe then, they might feel like giving some morsels of price? That wasn't clear. The associate on the phone got very stiff and resistant to ANY indication of costs under ANY assumption of her choice. She basically hung up on me, as I persisted--polititely--that my question was legitimate. You want to know why American Health Care is broken? Why spending and prices have gotten out of control? May I submit the practice of J. Glashow as Exhibit A of selfish practices. (I'll stipulate the "practice" as I only talked to staff) You, dear Patient, have NO business asking about the cost of something that may be the biggest purchase of your life. read more

Best orthopedic surgeon I've experienced. Follow up and physical therapy plans exceptional.

I did not have a good experience with Dr Glashow. I saw him in July 2023 after a fall. He took no X-rays of my injured shoulder or my knees. The only good thing he did was to refer me to an excellent PT. I later had an MRI of my shoulder ordered by my internist and it had treatment. I went to another orthopedist who took Xrays and administered cortisone injections in both knees. Dr Glashow chose to do nothing! Since my unsatisfactory experience with Dr Glashow I have heard of two other patients who had unfortunate experiences with him. One was a toddler on whom he missed a fracture and the other a young male adult on whom he performed unsatisfactory shoulder surgery. Had I known of these incidents I never would have trusted Dr Glashow. He may not be the superstar he was! read more

As much as I hate to admit it, Dr. Jonathan Glashow is a very good surgeon. He performed a left knee arthroscopy and a total knee replacement of my right knee. During the 2 years I was under his care all was well. His PA Chris was always helpful and answered questions via telephone or email willingly. My issue with this doctor regards the 3rd surgery I hired him to perform on my failing left knee. He recommended a total knee replacement. Unfortunately, I did have my knee replaced expecting Dr. Glashow to be the surgeon of record but to my dismay he was not the doctor who performed my surgery. Instead he had Dr. Nicholas Bavaro replace my knee. Dr. Bavaro was a new associate to his practice and I was told he specialized in hips. I never met him prior to the surgery and would never have hired him as I was not looking to change surgeons. Of course, I was asleep during my surgery but upon awakening Bavaro was the physician who met me and examined me post-surgery. At the time I did not think much of it but when I went for a follow up appointment with Dr. Glashow instead, I was again greeted by Dr. Bavaro. After the exam I attempted to contact both Dr. Glashow and his PA to ask why I was no longer seeing him. Neither would grant me a reply. Upon requesting my hospital records it was now clear to me why I was no longer under Dr. Glashow's care as he was not the surgeon of record. This would be a moot point if all had worked out well, but I have a bum knee which instead of getting stronger is weakening, unstable and painful most of the time after more than one year. Dr. Glashow met with me in the waiting area and signed my knee just prior to this surgery. He never mentioned stepping out for my surgery or that he had assigned his associate. I feel violated by this man and I highly recommend you amend his consent form prior to your surgery and be sure to write in ONLY Dr. Glashow. Trust me, Bavaro is no Glashow and you do not want him touching your body! read more

I had knee surgery in Oct 2013 due to a meniscus tear and I was thoroughly impressed by Dr Glashow and his amazing his staff. I had many concerns about orthopedic surgery but the pain in my knee was inhibiting my ability to fully function in my job. Dr. Glashow's staff is really on the ball. My calls were always answered quickly, questions & follow up were always handled efficiently and speedily and I never once felt as though I was not cared for (I actually felt like a VIP), and was treated with respect. Can't say enough about this high-tech office. Everyone was so professional and attentive. They handled all my needs in a timely manner, from paperwork to appointment dates and insurance, questions and concerns, and follow ups. Surgery was fast the crew were great at making me feel comfortable. All and all I highly recommend Dr. Glashow and his staff. I was not impressed by Dr. Jonathan L. Glashow's work. I was referred to him due to pain radiating up from my hands to my elbows following a cycling incident. I was left waiting over 40 minutes for the doctor to see me with barely an apology, as though my time is not valuable. He did a brief survey of my hands, wrists and elbows and prescribed an x-ray for one elbow. When I inquired about getting an x-ray of the other elbow, he was dismissive. The results of the first x-ray indicated a broken elbow. Ultimately, I went to another doctor, went for an x-ray on my other elbow and that, too, was broken. How could he miss a broken elbow? Even as a precaution, he should have had both x-rayed. I was not impressed and will not go back. read more

2 weeks ago I went into Dr Glashow's offices in NYC. Marginally depressed. I have played rugby my whole life, since 6 years old, and had many surgeries that I have always bounced back from, fast. I am now 38, and my elbow had been dislocated / broken and I'd left it untreated. My range was perhaps 75%. There was pain esp in winter, and the seizing was getting worse. Enter Dr Glasgow. IMMEDIATE focus and attn, not only to the elbow, but he zoned in on my left shoulder, just by looking at it! I knew my shoulder had past injuries, and would dislocate now and again, but he identified that I needed scans on shoulder and elbow. It's been 2 weeks since that 1st appt. My elbow / arm is now healing after immaculate surgery, and I can't wait to get back playing. It's given me a boost of adrenaline / confidence again. Unsure if we need to do shoulder before '23 season, but I will go with what Doc advises. He's the best - and I've been seen by some of the best European surgeons in the World. I'm going to be honest, this place is a bigger scam then the people calling your phone everyday. I Scheduled an appointment for 2:15 and didn't see the doctor till 3:40 and finished at 4. I don't understand who's giving them good reviews but this has to be the worst consultation ever!!!!Through that time I saw the Dr for about 5 minutes and was told I needed an MRI but l was also told by the receptionist the day before I can MRI on the same day at their facility and they knew what insurance I have. The thing is I came in for both my knees and he only wanted to treat one and literally gave me an option to choose which knee!!! WTF is wrong with you I'm fucking paying outta my pocket and you have the audacity to say something like that!? This really upset me cause they wasted my time and money. Instead of listening to where I feel the pain you decided to make me talk about the past which has no relevancy on this injury! Listen to your patients instead and put your ego to side. I had a MRI scheduled the day before and I cancelled it since I thought oh I can just get it tomorrow when I see Dr.glashaw but nope, I was tricked so they can make some money off me. Now I have to wait a whole week to get an MRI!! After examining my knee the solution he came up with was not bend my knees. So that's it huh? You stop knee pain and patella from cracking by not bending your knees? No medication given, nothing!! Just a referral for MRI ‍I paid $450 to be told not to bend my knees. I can barely put any strength on it while u had the AC on high as I waited 15 minutes for you to come in the office and ofc I won't feel shit when I'm freezing in shorts!! My legs were numb as fuck! I wasted my time, my brothers time and money! To make it worse while I was leaving, another patient tells them "I've been waiting for an hour", which tells me I'm not the only one going through this Bullshit! The Receptionist was helpful but I don't understand why they have to trick people into coming in. All those reviews on google has to be fake, it was nothing like what I've saw on the reviews, this place is a no go unless you can throw money like water and give no fuck about waiting for an hour. Dr. Glashow is a saint. Saved me in one of the biggest emergencies Ive had in some time. Had a very bad fall on my knee a few days ago (Days before an overseas flight to Europe) and he was even prompt enough to connect with me over the phone on a SATURDAY to get me into his office when I couldnt reach ANYONE else. Got me the MRI results I needed to be sure I would be okay to travel and was even gracious enough to provide me with a sleeve for walking around while I was on vacation. As good as it gets!! On 3/8/19, I'd taken a bad fall after receiving a full left knee replacement performed by a New Jersey surgeon. My tendon ruptured, but was undiagnosed for about 2 months. I'd been experiencing knee buckling and falling often. I could not lift my leg or stand on it. The quad was swollen and bulging. Pain was level 10. Finally, an MRI was performed at a New Jersey Radiology Center on 4/27/19. Assuming the worse, I began my search for Top NYC orthopedic surgeons who specialized in my condition. Thank goodness for Dr. Glashow and his PA, Chris. I filled out an online request for an appointment. The practice manager, Helen called me that Sunday and fit me into the schedule on 4/30/29 for a 10:00 a.m. examine with Dr. Glashow. He reviewed and discussed my medical records, the MRI results, and took the time to discuss the urgency of my condition. Dr. Glashow had Chris perform an additional ultrasound in the examine room, and recommended urgent surgery that afternoon. I was sent for STAT medical clearance, and arrived at the surgical center where I was prepped for surgery. That evening I was home with my leg in a full knee immobilizer, and within 2 days I was weight bearing. I have made 3 followup visits to the office, and I am greeted by the smiles of Courtney and Ashley. They accommodate times for me, since I now drive into Manhattan. My prognosis is great. A few years ago, I popped my ACL and shredded a little cartilage too. Needed some expert care. Dr. Glashow is as good as it gets. I have never had a bad experience with an orthopedist, so I do not have a personal frame of reference to compare Dr. Glashow to, but I can tell you that he was so good that I did not have to take any pain pills and I stayed conscious with a spinal block while he did the surgery. Not too many of my friends have said the same about their orthopedist, so I KNOW that Dr. Glashow is something special. I highly recommend him for ACL surgery. read more

Glashow was recommended to me by a golf buddy for my chronic shoulder pain. From the first minute, he was smug, arrogant, and a flippant narcissist. These qualities were exceeded only by his monetary greed, made obvious by the fact my initial 3 minute consultation (for minor to moderate shoulder pain) ended with a $400 bill and a date for invasive surgery, with no non-surgical or alternative pain relief options. Thankfully I was then referred by same buddy to Dr. David Altcheck at Hospital for Special Surgery for a second opinion. After six weeks of physical therapy with a brilliant therapist (no surgery necessary) I am now pain-free and playing my best golf game ever! November 2012 I had shoulder surgery with Dr. Jonathan Glashow 9 years ago for both a labral tear and a rotator-cuff tear. It was a terrible experience from start to finish. Not only did Dr. Glashow not explain anything about the oepration, but his anesthesiologist gave me a hard time before the operation, saying that if he couldn't find the vein, the operation would have to be canceled. They overdrugged me, I was very sick afterwards, and I could I not get hold of Glashow the night after the surgery when I was in dire straits. The worst of it is it turns out that this most painful of operations failed. Dr. Glashow told me that my recovery might take longer than usual because he made everything extra tight in surgery. He was right about that! I had to go through 8 months of physical therapy. He also told me that my "bad" shoulder would be better than my other one. Wrong! Nine years later, my shoulder has subluxed twice in the last few weeks. It popped out while I was doing normal movements and exercise. I am told by the physical therapist that if this continues, I will have to have surgery again. I lost trust in Glashow after the surgery. My lack of trust has now been further substantiated. My advice is to save yourself and to go elsewhere! read more
