It's very clean, the staff is super nice and welcoming, and the prices are reasonable for what you'd expect. The services were really great and very relaxing. My nails were very damaged before from a bad nail salon, but she was able to fix them up and have them much more presentable now. My girlfriends and I went to celebrate our friend getting married in P-Town and decided to do our spa day here because it was recommended to us by our B&B we stayed at. We all got massages and Mani pedis except for the bride who got a scrub along with her massage. Everyone seemed very please with their quality massages however I was a little bit questioning my massage. My massage therapist was talking to me the whole time. They were very sweet and nice to talk to however I just wanted to relax and not think ya know? Plus a few of their "techniques" didn't feel as professional as I have been used to in past massages. This was the worst manicure and salon experience I have had. I had an 11:25 appointment; I arrived at 11:20 and was told by the front desk person it would be 10 minutes. I was not taken until 11:50. That is 25 minutes late! I overheard them talking that the person ahead of me was 15 minutes late. That person should have been told they had to wait, that is not acceptable. On top of it, I told the manicurist I wanted polish. I believe her name was Haley. She insisted, that I my nails get buffed. Twice I told her I wanted polish and she insisted on buffing. In the end I gave in just to get out of this hell hole. When I went to leave she left me standing at the front desk, finally came over after a few minutes and realized the front desk person was not there and let me know he will be right back. Finally he came back. The service was horrible, the manicure was horrible, the experience was horrible. I do not recommend this salon for anything. read more

I was recently in to get a manicure over the weekend. It was honestly the worst and most painful manicure I've ever received. The manicurist repeatedly kept very roughly gouging at my nails and then said that the reason my nails are so "sensitive" was that she could tell my last manicurist used a dremel which she claimed are completely illegal in the state of Massachusetts. They're not, but I didn't argue. She filed the top of my nails down with a very abrasive grit and left cuts on the skin surrounding the nail bed. She pushed my cuticles back but never trimmed them and then painted them with extremely thick coats of polish. I figured I would let it go and just chose a different nail salon next time and sat outside to let them dry. 15 minutes outside and I still couldn't touch my nails and every nail was covered in bubbles. I couldn't wait any longer as I had to catch a bus and I went inside to ask about the bubbles and then decided to just have the polish removed since it was clear the polish wasn't going to dry any time soon. My manicurist had left already but the other manicurist who was there was on his way out and insisted on helping me. He was the only good thing about this salon. He was so helpful and wanted to redo my manicure and I just didn't have time but also felt bad because it wasn't his responsibility. He was so sweet, understanding, gentle and didn't need to stay to help at all but insisted on it. He removed the polish and it was coming off like wads of bubblegum and he filed my uneven nails. The manager and possible owner who was there saw that I was unhappy but never once asked me about anything and in passing said he would refund me $10 off of my $27 service. I left with no polish. My nails have been hurting for over a day and there are now large white blotchy spots all over them? Not sure what's happening. I wish I had gotten the second manicurists name as he was fantastic! I've been to Jonathan Williams several times for mani-pedis and in terms of the staff who performed the treatments, they were great! Competent, nice, very good. HOWEVER, the gentleman who makes the appointments, ( he may be the owner), couldn't be any ruder. I let it go the first few times, but after today I will NEVER go back there again! He was nasty and very unaccommodating! I live in this town 4-5 months a year and would go here more regularly if he wasn't such a jerk! I did try to change my appointment more than once, but he was outright bitchy! He just lost two customers today. Don't go there, he doesn't deserve your money! read more

I just had the best massage ever here. The staff was friendly and super accommodating. I'm not sure why the negative reviews, I can't wait to come back. My massage therapist was not chatty and really knew his stuff. His name was Asan or Asen I believe. He could really pinpoint the issues in my back without me even pointing them out. He even showed me a few stretches to help since I have a bad back. The man up front offered me a chance to rest in the back because I was waiting for my friend to have her massage and mentioned to her I felt like laying down after mine. I recently had a massage treatment at Jonathan Williams. I was a walk-in essentially and was immediately given a room. I will not name the therapist, but he was a chatty Cathy. I hate nothing more than a massage therapist who believes that ones hour of bliss is a chance to talk nonsense for 60 minutes. That being said, my massage was decent, but not totally amazing. The part that was disturbing to me was that my therapist shared with me that he had a "special relationship" with a couple who were visiting from out of town. I later learned upon seeing him out and about with this very unattractive couple that he was essentially a paid escort. Do not go. The nail technician was lovely, however, the result was a mess. Having a mani/pedi and they having no dryers: might I get my hands done first so they can dry during the pedi? NO. No drying allowed at all--fingers were a mess even after I sat for 45 minutes on a bench in town hoping they would dry. Nails were a nightmare with bubbles all around; pedi chipped within two days. Julius was the name of my therapist and he really knew his stuff. He was not chatty (hate that) and he had a real sense of tissue and how deep to go without having to ask. First the good news: Jonathan Williams does amazing hair color, and his technique is also incredible. I went to him twice. The first time I got a great cut, the second was the worst in my life. I walked out looking like I had a pigtail sticking out of my forehead. But the one star is really for this reason: I moved to a town an hour away from Ptown and called to ask if Jonathan would relay his color formula for my hair to my new hairdresser. I never heard back from him. 1) The snootiness and stinginess of not sharing something that is not even proprietary is very off-putting to me. He should have been flattered. Instead, he apparently got arrogant and ungenerous. 2) He didn't even have the courtesy or decency to call me back and let me know he was not comfortable (for reasons I can't fathom) giving me the color formula. That is just rude. I tipped him well, and he's the owner! I flatter him by asking him to relay the color formula to my more local, new hairdresser. Not only was he not generous and kind to do so, he was the opposite. This kind of behavior is so off-putting to me because of its selfishness, snottiness, etc. So, I would have been the first to direct people to Jonathan Williams (and I still have many ties to Ptown) for the color - although that second haircut..eek. But now, for sure I will not. Begs the question: "Who does he think he is? Mr. Goldwell?" Rein in your ego, Mr. Williams. It's HAIR COLOR, not internationally sensitive intellectual property! read more

I scheduled a manicure on line for 11:25. I made sure I was there by 11:15 as I do not like to be late. At 11:20 I was told it would be 10 minutes. The customer before me was 15 minutes late from what I overheard. At 11:45 I was finally sat in a chair and then the manicurist went to get water. Things continued to decline when I said I wanted polish and she said no it will chip, I want to buff. I repeated I wanted polish, and she said let me show you buff. I repeated again I want polish and she said she will buff. If a customer ahead is 15 minutes late they should be told they have to wait. I would have given this place zero stars if I could. I had a manicure and a pedicure with Alexa here today. It was the sloppiest work I have ever seen. My nails are filed unevenly, nail polish is applied in clumps, and, a few short uneventful hours later, has already partially come off both on my nails and toenails. The fact that Alexa, whom I repetitively informed that I was not in a talkative mood, made multiple attempts to engage me in "meaningful" conversation about my personal life, hardly even matters. Worse yet: I had a bikini wax. I have been waxing regularly for years, and it has NEVER hurt as much. My skin is sore and irritated hours after the procedure, and there are two large raw spots. It actually hurts to walk. The waxing was done sloppily, and the result is pretty asymmetrical and looks terrible. I can't remember the name of the esthetician who committed the atrocity, but I don't think it matters. They are just using some cheap stuff. To sum up -- don't use this place if you don't have to. I made an appointment for a pedicure for the same day. I was told I needed to give my credit card information for no-show appointments. I called back 20 minutes later and had to cancel. I was told "thank you" and hung up on. I was then called back and told that I would be charged the full amount. I totally understand that salons charge when you no-show for appointments but when you cancel 20 minutes after you make the same day appointment. I hosted 8 friends in Provincetown town for a week. I arranged mani-pedi appointments with the paraffin wax treatment for everyone. It was 1.5 hours of heavenly bliss. When you think that a foot massage with some paste followed by having your feet wrapped in hot towels is pure joy, your feet are rinsed off and slipped into mitts filled with parrafin wax. Haircut from another staff was really lacking, especially for the cost. This particular person was not good with long hair. Pedicure and eyebrow waxing were average. We recently got married in Provincetown and had an amazing experience at Jonathan Wiliams. We went with Jonathan Williams originally because they were the most responsive to any phone/email correspondence and also happened to be the closest to our hotel and wedding venue. I have extremely thick hair and wanted a somewhat complicated, braided, side swept up-do for our rustic wedding. I was a bit nervous picking any salon that I wasn't too familiar with. My hair came out better than I could have imagined. The staff at Jonathan Williams did the hair and makeup for 2 brides and 4 bridesmaids and everyone looked amazing. Not only did we all love our hair and makeup, the staff was extremely accommodating, didn't mind our wedding party more or less taking over the whole salon, and worked through each bridal party member quickly and efficiently without ever making anyone feel rushed or stressed. I absolutely recommend Jonathan Williams for anyone getting married in Ptown and looking for a place for hair and makeup! read more

I was in Ptown on a very quiet week in November with a badly strained lower back and shoulder. Walked off the street into the Jonathan Williams Salon & Spa for a deep tissue massage, mostly because it was handy and my B&B had a discount there. It's a very straight-forward place, nothing fancy, and they called Matt in from around the corner. He gave a really good massage, with a detailed attention to my hips I'd never received from anyone else. He's both chill and enthusiastic, and showed ability to work in a comfortable silence and also give good conversation when I wanted it. Best of all, his hands and elbows had that intuition to know where to go on my body and how deep to press. He gave me enough pressure to surrender to but didn't jar or cause my body to tense up in pain. All the people there were straightforward and friendly and professional. I don't give five stars very often, just as a matter of principle, but I'm definitely giving John Williams Spa & Matt my usual highest rating. In mileau, it could definitely earn a higher star if it went all fancy, but I liked what it had: good standard New Agey music, nothing too saccharine, and it was definitely clean and warm, with a handy shower, and all the right setup such as pillows and oils so that we just got to work. And I sense Matt, as great as he already is, has more yet in him so I'll let him have a fifth star to grow into. He's in Ptown year-round, and if I were a local or regular here I'd make him my regular go-to guy. I was in incapcitating pain many mornings this past week, and as I write this the morning after my massage, that pain is gone. read more
