Meant to write this review a long time ago. This family business did a terrific job painting our house. Jonathan was patient with us in selecting the color. They were always on time and started and finished the job as planned. He even brought some guys who made an excellent driveway gate. He and his brother and dad did careful prep work and we love the finished product of both the painting and the new gate. It's rare to find a contractor who is professional, reliable, honest, quick to respond and just an overall good guy, but that's exactly who Jonathon is! We are 4 months into a remodel and have dealt with every kind of contractor out there. Construction is never fun, never goes according to plan and usually goes over budget, but not with Jonathon. He is actually my favorite contractor. Our house is in a historical neighborhood and our home is close to 100 years old. There are so many restrictions and many things to fix due to the age of the home. Many years ago a previous owner put aluminum siding on our English cottage. He removed the siding, repaired the stucco, windows, rafters (anywhere there was damage) and painted. Omg, the results are amazing! I can vouch that his work is excellent. We love that his work is awesome, but what made Jonathon even better was how he conducted business. His guys worked 6 days a week and always arrived at 7 am as we needed to get work done before any kind of bad weather. He completed the job according to schedule, actually earlier! My husband and I would text or call him with questions and concerns (we ran into problems with the city which put delays on Jonathon's start date and he was so accommodating). He would always respond so quickly. Seriously, the only contractor I've dealt with who was super responsive. Many take forever to get back to you or don't respond at all! Also, I'm no designer and was always second guessing myself on the look of the stucco and paint colors. Jonathon was so patient, understanding and helpful. I find it necessary to update with more detail and pics. The work started Oct 1 a Friday. By end of day Saturday, he texted that his guy (one guy) is finishing up by Monday. He said the paint was dry but it would need 24 hrs to cure. I texted Jonathan on Sunday, "We looked around what's been done in daylight. We are uncomfortable about proceeding with the work until you take a good look as well. What time can we meet with you on Monday?" Come Monday, (my husband was away) I pointed out our concerns: 50% of the work area still needed prepping. The other 50% was painted over. Of that, some paint was lifted and/or cracked since it was painted over old peeling paint. Among others, attached pictures shows the rust that had not been addressed and left bare in the painted area. Other pictures show the quality of "prep" and how it looks painted over. Jonathan walked along, occasionally muttering derisive parody as I pointed several areas out. There were "waves" on the painted surface which happens if more paint is rollered on wet paint. This rushed work is further indicated by a long stream of paint down the wall where a heavy coat was rolled over the perpendicular surface. My point was to get help for this one man who is supposedly wrapping up that day. Jonathan however, focused on the stream of paint and told me I was nit picking, raised his voice and challenged "Do you want me to finish this job or not?!!!" And proceeded in saying that it was a FAVOR TO PREP AND PRIME THE SURFACE, IT WAS NOT NECESSARY. Moreover, a 5 inch clearance is not enough for sanding, that he is a busy man and now he has to deal with this schedule, that I messed up the workspace (there was abt a quarter cup of water on a 6 inch area on the ground). We have a metal tubular fence and gate, which at his challenge was in a very compromised transitional state. The rainy season was coming. I didn't choose him because no one ever complained about him. I know nothing about that. His company was mentioned. I asked for a quote to include our mailbox and light post. His quote came in middle of the pack. He spoke knowledgeably. My call. I folded. The work was finished Wednesday noon. After my husband handed the check, I drew him aside to address that Monday. There was no remorse, quite the opposite. It is true, he hung around to chat with my husband. He was so amicable. He stayed until he was good and done. That does not reflect on the quality of the work. After Christmas and heavy rains, paint was peeling off with the Christmas lights. There are rust spots here and there. I would rather do the fixes which shouldn't even be called for, 3 months after the job. Within the hour of my initial review, Jonathan texted and left voice mail "this is how I feed my family, how my guys feed their family" ...."it's not fair" He asked that we reconsider our review. To that: we have the right to review regardless of our color, our clothes, our sexual orientation, even the size of the project. I will look into Yelp for the rest of our projects. I will continue to review truthfully and hope others do too. read more
