Somewhat of a decent establishment, not the best service! I seen someone receive their food which was a chicken Philly cheesesteak, the individual opened the sandwich and noticed a hair within his food. The individual seemed to be calm and understanding about the situation and notified the waitress. He was told that they would not charge him for the inconvenience of the human hair in his food. That he would only be charged for the drink he ordered. He then was offered by the waitress to remake the food!! He gladly accepted the offer and asked if it could be to go being that he may of had other business to take of. After that; the individual was confronted by an older lady ( possibly management ) that he failed to pay for the order that was bagged for him to go..... Moral of the story is that even if hair is found in your food you will still be charged , to a new customer to the establishment that is very unprofessional and distasteful. I go to Jonathans 1-2x/month and it is always excellent food. I hardly ever have to wait and the booths are quite large and comfortable. I usually go there for breakfast, always get 2 eggs, hashbrowns, sausage, toast and coffee and the price is Great! I recently met some friends there for dinner and a meeting, we had half the restaurant to ourselves. So they were very accommodating for our business presentation. Their menu is quite expansive, so many choices for dinner, I took a good 15 minutes to decide. The wait-staff are always attentive and come by with refills on the drinks every 5 minutes. So if you are looking for great food and a more than reasonable price, you need to go to Jonathans! read more

I'd been to Jonathan's twice before and had good experiences with large, filling omelettes that were reasonably priced. I had such a positive memory (going back 2 years or so) that I talked a friend to going with me there for Thanksgiving. Either my previous experience was too limited, or they've gone downhill, or my recollection wasn't correct. My guest was extremely extremely unhappy with everything she ate from the salad to the dessert; she pushed much of it away uneaten or less. I didn't taste her salad, but just from the looks it was obvious the quality of the greens was absolute bottom. Instead of salad I'd ordered soup, and it was among the worst soups I've ever ordered anywhere. It tasted as if it was straight out of a can, and not even out of a good can, but more like out of a store brand from Walmart. Our slices of cheesecake that we ordered for dessert were enormous but utterly devoid of taste; blindfolded I would've had a hard time identifying what I was eating. I did think the fried chicken wings on the appetizer platter were beautifully prepared and battered, and the fried mushroom balls were a revelation; if I ever go back I'll order a whole plate of them. But aside from those two praiseworthy items, we both felt that nearly every item that comprised our meals was of the lowest possible quality -- referring less to the recipe than to the quality of the ingredients -- the buns, the greens, the beef, etc. Frankly, we would've liked to have gone to Golden Corral (at which nearly every course is made of good quality ingredients), but I thought we could have a decent meal at Jonathan's and pay half the price of GC. But when you add in the $10 for the appetizer platter and $6 apiece for the large but truly lousy dessert, the price turned out to be the same as we would've paid at GC. So basically we paid the same price as at GC in the end but got food that was mostly of the lowest quality. My friend says she would never try it again. I wouldn't mind going back again for an omelette, but the waitress insisted that the omelettes are only available at breakfast time, while I prefer to have them for lunch. (I could swear I'd had them for lunch on my previous visits, but maybe my recollection is faulty about that point.) Personally I'm old enough to chalk it up to experience and let it roll off my back, but my guest was quite upset and I feel like I ruined her Thanksgiving. My honest review: The service could be better. Me: I want the country special with two biscuits and gravy. Server: stands their in silence. Me: What are we waiting for? Server: What meats do you want? How do you want your eggs? Look at the menu. Me: Ok, I had trouble understanding it. I want the country special with 2 biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and sausage. Other then the service, I enjoyed it. I had the 2 biscuits and gravy with 2 sausages. The price is great too. Idea: I think they can improve the service and make things go faster by knowing the menu better. After eating here for years, today will be our last visit. Bottom line, this place has gone down hill so badly. It's dirty, dingy, and old. The bathrooms are disgusting. I came out of the women's room and told my husband how nasty it was, he said he was just getting ready to say the same about the men's room. The food is just ok. I went to Jonathan's last Saturday for breakfast based on reviews alone. Wow... was I disappointed... the landscaping looked awful with duck and goose crap / trash by the adjoining pond. The restaurant interior is falling apart, the food was bland, and the service on par with Waffle House. How they got a 97 food inspection rating is a miracle or a payoff. And I am in my 50s and I felt young... it's sad to see a place not being taken care of to sueeze every dime it can. read more

The wife and I checked out Jonathan's a couple weeks ago for dinner. We were excited to see that they serve breakfast all day. I do enjoy breakfast for dinner!! I ordered an omelet with a side of smoked sausage and hashbrowns with wheat toast. The western omelet was good sized but lacked flavor. The hashbrowns were very good. My wife said it reminded her of the ones you get a Waffle House. The smoked sausage was disappointing. I'm used to a little "snap" with my sausage but this one was almost mushy on the inside. My opinion on this place is they need to over hall the decor and bring it up to date or leave it and keep serving the retired folks. Still debating on whether to give it another shot. On a side note, if you're an Elvis fan, apparently the fan club meets here once or twice a month, so they have that going for them. read more

Doesn't look like much when you walk past, however the food and service is top notch and I recommend the Jonathan special. Very good food for a very low price, you really can't beat it. If you get Bebe is your waitress, consider yourself blessed. They do a great job illuminating the atmosphere with a "everyone is family" type vibe. if there is nowhere else to go, we will go to this restaurant for breakfast. It is very low-quality food and you can tell by the taste. The pancakes taste like they are from a box but at the dollar tree. The meat is strange. The coffee taste like airplane coffee, and has no caffeine. Even the tapwater has a funny taste. There is a big muddy swamp outfront, I suppose you can call it a pond. I have been coming to Jonathans for a few years. The health grade rating is excellent . Every time I dine here I view the rating it is always 100%. The severs and hostess make you feel special. They make the best grilled cheese and tomato on rye sandwich ever! The tomatoes are always red and juicy. The potato salad is some of the best I have ever had. We held a baby shower at Jonathan's on October 17th. It was great. The food was great, staff wonderful, and the prices are so reasonable. We paid a small deposit, staff set up the room and even offered to help decorate. We went there about a month before to have lunch and was very impressed. A big thank you to all the staff and especially to Sherry who set things up for us and to Ann who worked so hard to make the shower such a success! I enjoy trying new restaurants, especially local or family owned. I first went to Jonathan's on a Sunday, a little before 12pm. When I was seated, they handed me a breakfast menu. Since I got up around 6:30, I was ready for lunch, not breakfast. I actually had to ask for a lunch menu. I ordered the Roast Beef Platter, on special. The mashed potatoes were real, and the green beans average. The beef platter had 4 perfectly round, paper-thin pieces covered with gravy. It had no more flavor than paper. I wasn't pleased, but I never make a final judgement on one meal. I went again a few days later. Again it was around 12pm and I was only given a breakfast menu and had to ask for a lunch menu. I ordered the Hot Turkey Sandwich. First of all, it was pressed, processed deli turkey roll, It wasn't even real turkey. Again, 4 thin slices, covered in brown gravy. REALLY? You couldn't even use turkey gravy. I could say I've had a worse Hot Turkey Sandwich, but I would be lying. I was still hungry when I left. If you want to specialize in one meal, fine, but be honest. Don't offer lunch and dinner if you don't know how to prepare them. read more

We go here often for Sunday breakfast and its a great and very affordable, diner-style place. It is typically very crowded on Sundays but the wait is usually not very long as they have a lot of tables and quick service. Portion sizes are huge and the food is very good. This has been a favorite with my kids since they were very young because of the duck pond outside. There are ducks, geese, swans and even peacocks and turkeys. We've only had breakfast here, but as big Jersey style diner fans, its exactly what we are looking for. read more

I must say, I am very impressed. It is not a fancy smancy restaurant, but it is a good restaurant. The food is excellent. I met a friend here for lunch. There was a total of five in our party. We order fish, shrimp, jerk chicken, lasagna, carrot cake, lemon mereguine pie and apple pie. The fist was lightly breaded, the jerk checken was not over powerfully seasoned and the chicken was tender and juicy. The shrimp was the children's plate and the portion was very appropriate. The desserts were very good. Not too sweet and very large. The restaurant is very clean, the service is excellent, and the food was good without being greasy. The prices are extremely competitve. This place is disgusting! My instincts when i walked in told me not to eat there and i should have listened! The windows wete filthy, floor dirty and the breakfast was horrible! Wow ! I can't believe people think this is good breakfast food. (NOT) I travel a lot and trust me this food is lacking in taste! I had a Jonathan omelette and grits and it looked good on the plate but the omelette was just ok and the grits taste like they were instant and mushy and tasteless ! The biscuit was hard as rock! I've been keeping an eye on the restaurant inspections for Jonathans, and their last 2 inspections were back up in the mid 90's ... good for them. Tho there is still some sloppiness in the kitchen resulting in their demerits. We have eaten there again a few times and enjoyed the food without problems, tho I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the TV on the wall playing whatever channel someone sets it to ... sometimes it's not a program conducive to a nice meal setting. I would normally give this a one star review, the only reason I am giving it to, is because of the fact that one time I went things were actually incredible. The last time however, it was absolutely dreadful! The coffee was literally speaking ice cold, and that is no idiomatic expression. It literally was the same temperature as my Coca-Cola. when I had them warm it up for me, it literally tasted like water, and there was no flavor to it at all. The beef tips over rice had absolutely no gravy, and there was no seasoning on the rice. Might I add, the rice was very sticky, and very very under cooked. in fact, some of the grains we're not even cooked at all. The fried okra tasted very doughy. also, regarding the beef, it was tough as a brick! my friend ordered grilled salmon patties. They smelled like they were spoiled, although she said they didn't taste that bad. i'm kind of surprised. then, they wanted seven dollars just for a measly carrot cake about the size of your fist. Maybe slightly bigger, but not by much. when I told the waitress that I was totally blind, she refused to show me where things were on my plate/table. she wasn't exactly rude about it, don't get me wrong, but she definitely was not very friendly either. once I left and was ready to pay, right at the cash register counter, I stepped on a piece of chewing gum. When I told them about this, they said that it was not their job to mop the floor. They told me to just walk around it. pardon the language, but who the hell would be stupid enough to spit the gum out on the floor right there in front of the cash register for staff to see! Really? for Pete's sake! Oh wait... Where is Pete from Tryan house. We need him back! He would not be approving any of this crap. i'm willing to give this place one more try, considering the fact that the first out of two times I've been there since they changed from Tryan house over to what they are now, the first time, it was wonderful, therefore, I'm willing to give him one more chance, but I'm telling staff now... This service it better be better than what it was the last time. Because if it's not, it will be my last time ever dining there, so take this as a warning. read more

Very disappointed for the area. Terrible host service, very unorganized seating. Once seated I thought I entered a time warp or more like an assisted living or something. NOT YOUNG OR FAST wait staff. Had to ask for the table to be wiped off and I think the white table cloths should be left for dinner but maybe they don't know how to turn over for meals?? Lighting was very dim at 10:30 am. Had to ask for silverware,the response was: " let me see if I could find some because we run out at this time ". Ummmmm???? Yes that was my reaction. That's just a little on the inside. The outside entrance was dull and not really inviting with the cheesy neon sign almost on the roof. The duck pond was dirty and emitted an odor. The parking lot needed to be cleaned as well. And the spaces are tight and cars just park randomly. Not good if you don't like door dings. Oh I didn't visit the restroom cause I used my hand wipes so go at your own risk. The owners need to STOP, reassess and remodel. Maybe then they won't need to have a hand written sign "looking for cooks". My 10 yr old would have had breakfast out faster. Just saying. Good luck. read more

I never thought anybody could mess up Turkey & Dressing but boy was I wrong. Went on a Sunday after church for my dads Birthday & we all gave our orders to the waitress. I specifically asked for turkey & dressing with dark meat , cabbage & macaroni & cheese. Got my order & it came with white meat, when I asked the waitress for dark meat she said we only have white????? Tried to eat the dressing but after a few bites could not take it. The cabbage was tough & yellow colored, only thing I ate from the whole meal was the mac & cheese & that wasn't to good in itself. Sent the plate back because I could not eat it & worst part of all I was charged for the nasty meal. The hostess said she would make it up to me the next time I came in. Well guess what?
