    Amazing bistro in downtown Matthews
    Michael S.

Wow! Such a hidden gem in Matthews, the owner is super nice and loves to talk, I was lucky and made it in time for a late lunch when I was in town to buy a motorcycle from the dealer up the street. The food is all made with love and with the tradition to make food what it should be energy for the body and soul! I can't wait to go back and try more of his delicious creations! hopefully I can make it for dinner with the wife one night if I am able to get a reservation which he says fills up quickly. in addition to the wonderful meals he also has some really good Macarons as a sweet treat! Chicken Peri Peri Sandwich is super yummy and so are the fries!

Freshly made food and amazing wine. Ya I was warm to us and really made us feel special. We will be back!

    Lentil Soup

Healthy, Hearty, and Tasty! Today I ordered the lentil soup to-go at Yanni's Bistro, and I must say I was pleased! I've had lentil soup before and this didn't disappoint. It was filled veggies and lots of lentils, leaving me satiated and satisfied. I love how the flavors married together, and I was able to add my own salt to taste which was appreciated! The service is always great, and welcoming.

    Cute scenery!

The presence is so welcome at Yanni Bistro. We were welcomed with serene music and beautiful decorations. It is clean, well kept, and cute! The owner gave us food recommendations. The falafel & hummus sandwich had all components of deliciousness! We were provided with samples of vegetable soup and cuscus as samples for the spring menu! The service was excellent and I will definitely be returning to try more locally sourced dishes. The owner took time to speak with us at the table about his restaurant.

    Chicken salad sandwich

We had a great first experience at Yanni Bistro today! My dad got the chicken salad sandwich + fries, I got the Aztec special chicken sandwich + fries, and my mom got the falafel salad. Everything was delicious and fresh. We sat outside with my 10 month old baby and my parents' dog, and the owner even gave us some water for her. It was the perfect lunch! Can't wait to go back

Removed paper, everything fell off the soggy bread.

I chose Yanni because they advertise as a gluten free establishment and walked through a very busy parking lot to get to the door. No one else was in Yanni Bistro. Clue #1. (1) The a/c wasn't working. The help was very annoyed about that. (2) Yanni argued with me that soybean oil is not in Duke's mayonnaise. Wrong. (3) Out of many menu options (one due to having the wrong "slicer." Then mark it off the menu)? (4) Products for sale around storefront were NOT local. (5) Sandwich #1 was NOT gf. He kindly remade it...but it was literally 1/3 of the side of the regular sandwich one and cost more ($14 + $2 gf uncharge). (6) Because Yanni walked around with speaker phone on, I overheard an angry customer call whose order was wrong. He told the gal he replied to her FB post. She replied "I'm not on FB." (7) My stomach feels like I ingested gluten. With a slim list of choices, I got the chicken avocado "panini." It came out on a baguette roll. Very tough, day old, cold chicken, 4 small spring mix leaves, a couple of carrot twirls, a few red onions, and maybe 1/2 of an avocado. No salt or pepper on any tables. This was a huge disappointment from a restaurant advertising fresh, local, gluten free. Not thanks.

Everything is super fresh! Overall a great experience, the food was delicious and the owner took the time to tell us about some of the dishes and preparation behind his creations. Amazing!

We were greeted with such genuine warmth and what almost felt like excitement that we had chosen to stop in, which immediately set the tone for the meal. The restaurant was busy enough to feel lively without being overwhelming, and we were seated right away. Briana took excellent care of us throughout the experience, handling our indecisiveness with patience and making us feel completely comfortable taking our time. Her attentive service never missed a beat, and the experience was so delightful that I made a point of sharing my compliments with the manager on duty before we left. The coffee was exactly the kind that feels like home, familiar, comforting, and somehow better because it arrived with such great service. Then came the waffle , which was both delicious and notably HUGE, the kind of breakfast that makes you wonder why you ever order anything else. Between the warm welcome , Briana's outstanding service, and a meal that absolutely hit the spot , this visit checked every box. I would absolutely return.

The Dim Sum is fantastic! lots of options, everything perfectly prepared and presented. We ordered the sesame balls with red bean paste, spicy dumplings, crab Rangoon, chicken fried rice, spring rolls, and steamed crystal shrimp dumplings, pan fried pork and cabbage dumplings, and the sticky rice with chicken. Each choice as fresh, perfectly prepared, and tasted fantastic. There were 3 of us and we all ate well and had plenty of leftovers, which is always nice. And the best part was the cost of this feast. It was significantly lower than meals I have had at other Asian restaurants whose prices were much higher, food wasn't as well prepared and gave you much smaller portions. Our server, Ana, was wonderful. She even taught me how to use chopsticks properly. Loved her! The Manager, Tom, was also great! The place was very clean and had a lovely atmosphere. It would be great for date night, celebration dinners, and even if you just wanted to have a nice, quiet solo meal. 10 out of 10!!

There was no one there to really greet me so walked over to the table where group that I was meeting was. With over 20 people in the group, the restaurant was able to accommodate nicely with service being very good with timely drink refills. For the food, it was ok, I wouldn't say that it was the best Chinese food I've ever ate. I've had better at cheaper places. For the price, the food wasn't worth what was charged. I ordered beef and vegetables which did not include rice that was charged separately. The beef slices were thin and found bone in one piece after I tasted and spit out; vegetables were tasty. Rice tasted very dry and wasn't sticky and moist. I'm glad that I tried but found the food to be very expensive especially since it was just okay. But I don't think I would visit again.

The dumplings came out first--golden brown, crispy on one side, tender on the other, and disappearing faster than a politician's campaign promise. Then came a bibimbap still sizzling in its stone bowl, daring you to stir that runny egg into a mountain of fresh vegetables and rice. Finally, there was a kimchi pancake the size of a hubcap, crispy around the edges, soft in the middle, and just spicy enough to remind you it wasn't playing around. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and made by someone who cared more about feeding people than impressing Instagram. The service was quick, friendly, and never let our drinks run dry. About the only disappointment was realizing we'd eventually have to stop eating. If you're looking for fancy white tablecloths, keep driving.
