    Bacon, Eggs and Biscuit.

A nice little spot with a great atmosphere, service and breakfast. Had 2 eggs, bacon and a biscuit. The bacon was crispy, the eggs cooked correctly and the biscuit was on point. The service was fantastic. We will be back.

Vera's kitchen is a quaint little brunch place in charming Waxhaw. We were visiting the area and I looked for a good breakfast place on Yelp. We like Mexican food, so this place caught my eye. I like that they serve both Mexican dishes alongside American, which accommodates more tastes. We had barely entered and were sitting down when Vera herself cheerfully greeted us. As we looked over the menu, she came over to say hello and welcome us to her restaurant. Her personal touch matches the small-town charm. My wife loves chilaquiles which didn't appear on the menu, but Vera said no problem. I ordered the huevos rancheros and my son ordered tacos. We also had coffees, which were excellent - I know because it tasted great and didn't require cream or sugar. The food was great, and we made a point to visit once more over our 6-day trip. Vera is sweet and her crew obviously take pride in serving delicious food with authenticity and heart. Waxhaw is lucky to have Vera's Kitchen.

A bright and cheerful restaurant. We were greeted by Mrs. Vera as we sat down for breakfast. Breakfast is now served all day besides lunch. I ordered the turkey sausage with 2 eggs but I was never asked how I wanted my eggs plus I forgot to tell them. I got scrambled eggs unexpectedly . Also I thought my turkey sausage was over cooked and a bit chewy. My dining mates veggie omelet and hash browns looked great and he enjoyed his meal. The coffee was fresh and good. Food was hot and plated okay. The menu features an assortment of typical breakfast choices ( eggs, omelets, pancakes, French toast etc) and lunch ( burgers, sandwiches, lunch plates , salads, fries) and Friday and Saturday dinners featuring Mexican specialties plus the lunch menu. Prices mostly reasonable, plus a kids menu. I would certainly return and try something from the lunch menu.

I just discovered that they carried Tres Leches which is made in-house. DELICIOUS! I tried their chicken tacos for the first time and it was such a great option as I always get breakfast when I come here. Overall, this spot is so consistent with their level of service and food quality. I highly recommend if you are in the Waxhaw area.

great food and great service. i ordered the french toast and it was very good. will be back again.

It looked the same, but the menu was greatly expanded. Our waiter, Nicolas proved to make the experience a good one, far, far better than nine years ago. Margaritas also served to make it a good experience. They come in flavors and sized small, large and pitcher. We went large ($10) regular flavor. Nice servings and went down well. Given our previous bad experience we went with standard food offerings. Wife had enchiladas verdes ($13.99) which were served with rice and beans. She asked for diced onions to be cooked inside the enchiladas and they did so. I Went for chile verde ($16.99), which is one of my favorites. Pork chunks well simmered and soft in a green gravy. Contract with beef cooked likewise called chile colorado, another favorite. Served with rice and beans and tortillas. I specified flour tortillas but you can opt for corn tortillas. Without having to explain what it was I wanted, Chiles Toreados ($3.99) were actually listed on the menu. I receive my order of three jalapeno peppers that were very well done and sauteed onions surrounding them. This is a wonderful way to spice up your meals, especially the beans and rice that are pretty blah. This dinner make up for the one nine years ago, and we will be back. Looking for Nicholas.

When my X and I first moved to Indian Trail, a lot of friends suggested this restaurant as the authority for Tex Mex. It's a good thing they have a big parking lot as they're generally packed, which means people like it. Me? My short reply is it's pretty good. Opening up the doors the atmosphere has a bit of reserved authenticity, no dollar tree prefab gimmicks are there just to plant a flag, claiming to be just like all other options out there. No this is the real deal with a warming atmosphere designed to entice locals to take a load off and relax. The server stand is directly in front and what appears to be a predominately family-owned business. The staff is quick to greet and seat everyone who enters and the place is extremely clean with a low noise level. Lets get to the food, shall we? First of all, I prefer thinner chips as theirs are really thick, but that's not a quality issue. The salsa is darn good and be careful for asking for hot salsa, you'll get what you asked for. Generally I fill up on chips and get something light however I've heard so many good things about La Unica I had to hold back so I could sample some of the former mrs food and gorge on my own. Please note I did drop by twice so I have three dishes I can speak too. First the former Mrs me got the flautas dinner. All the sides; lettuce, tomato, guac, sour cream and rice were fresh and tasty. The tomatoes were ripe and the guac wasn't discolored which means fresh. The flautas were perfectly cooked, crispy with flavorful and moist chicken while not being greasy. Top it with some lettuce and sour cream YUM! My first sample was the Shrimp burrito or I'll call it the Titanic as it was HUGE & IT WENT DOWN! Very tasty with plenty of fat shrimp and all the sides inside. I found it fun to cut into it, pop a bite into my mouth and see which ingredients hit my tastebuds; a revolving experience. Overall, it was very good and not to spicy. For the record, I don't eat beans so I'm not a good judge of what happened there. My final menu item was my best bud, my old faithful, my ride or die - steak fajitas. Again, the sides were awesome no issue there but I found the steak a bit tough. It was seasoned well and tasty but I did some chewing to finish it off. I think it may have been an off day. Other than the MMA fighting steak (implying it's tough) the dish is outstanding. Overall, La Unica is the best Mexican aka Tex Mex restaurant in Indian Trail. The staff is friendly and fast, the chips and salsa are great and for the most part you can always get a seat. Even when busy, the food doesn't seem to suffer. I wish I could have tried more items, alas life has dictated I'm a nomad so I won't be back. But don't let that stop you for hitting up the best south of the border joint in town!
