Years later I am still unimpressed with this bar/restaurant. It has good days and bad days, never consistent. I brought the star rating up solely based on their specials. During football games they have a decent game day menu where you can get steak bites or wings, etc among several other things. I have had them and they've been great, today however the steak pieces were tiny and full of stringy fat. The wings overcooked and dry. Pitchers and buckets of beer for $15 and drinks for $6 help ease the pain of the food. Service by our waiter was great but food and bar were slooowwwww. Clearly kitchen issues didn't help the food situation. Its a vibrant spot with lots of TVs for the games. If you're going for drinks and sports, perfect. I love food, I love live music and I enjoy alcohol. I know, this is an odd combination, but hey I live on the WILD side. So when I found out that The Train House which is right around the corner from me and participates in all three, I was immediately interested. I will state this up front, while this is a family friendly restaurant later at night caters to the adult crowd specifically thirty something on up. As for the adult beverages they have something for everyone. Interesting cocktails to appease the pinky up bougie woman (almost an oxymoron in Indian Trail) to the simple down to earth individual who "likes what they like." The wine list isn't anything special, in fact very limited but will have enough options to get a person through the night. Craft beers rotate in and have a nice little selection. As for the food, it's VERY good. I've been several times so I'll try and state what I've enjoyed. The steak eggrolls shocked me as I was anticipating ground beef, but it ended up being steak. The seasoning was a bit low and it could have used a bit more cheese but good overall. The Caesar salad was very nice with crisp lettuce and a tasty dressing, a bit tame but perfectly balanced for the masses. The wings were plump, not those little tiny wings and well-seasoned. All of the sandwiches I've tried were on the money while the pastas are filling, but not waistline friendly! In other words, there's a lot of hits on the menus with few misses. As for the bands, they always seem to get entertaining artists. I've been four times and every one I found my spirits being picked up and really enjoying the energy of the bar and band. Good thing I live close by as the uber trip is cheap! Trail House is just about the only late night option for many adults but it also focuses on the other must haves like drinks and food. We met friends for dinner on a Saturday night. They place was not to busy when we arrived but quickly filled in. Our server was nice, and maybe she was new, but she was unable to answer our questions about drinks or what was on tap. They have a drink specials list, and it seems that if you aren't ordering one of those, then they are unable to make the drink. For example, they have a Carmel apple mule but were unable to make a standard Moscow mule. I ordered the espresso old fashioned ( two of my favorite things!), but it was not good. The espresso overwhelmed the drink. They had a decent beer list, so we stuck with that after striking out with the cocktails. We ordered the Dip trio, and that was good, and the shrimp tacos were also very good. The bar area is definitely darker, but the dining side is a little better. It does get loud when the band starts, making it very difficult to chat. Overall, the food is good, the beer is decent but avoid the cocktails and bar area. read more

Food we were served was mediocre, lacking in taste. But much more this establishment has no concern for the US Constitution and the second amendment. They have the posted sign at the door prohibiting conceal carry of permitted firearms. This is not mentioned in there web site or any of there advertising. On the 250 anniversary of this country this establishment does not honor one of the important constitutional rights we as Americans have. I'm a law abiding person and as we were already in front of the restaurant I felt obligated to leave my permitted weapon in my car only to find out the food was subpar. This is a great spot for a casual dinner. We stopped by on Sunday night to watch football and grab a bite to eat. It was not very busy that night so we were able to be seated without a wait for a table. Our server was super helpful and made sure we were taken care of immediately after being seated. She took our drink orders and food orders quickly too which was nice. The food came out pretty quickly and was great! The Trail House seems to serve as a hub of excitement in the small but rapidly growing suburb of Indian Trail, NC. If you want to catch a game they have TVs galore along with inexpensive beer and cocktails and some solid food options. They also host trivia nights, music bingo, open mics, and have a nice stage for live bands to perform. Really there is something for everyone here. My first trip occurred on a Sunday where I found myself in need of some hair of the dog and something hearty and a bit greasy to help me fight off a hangover. Their menu consists of some classic pub favorites from barbecue nachos, to flatbreads, to burger sliders. Basically exactly what I was looking for. I decided on the Buffalo grilled cheese which I devoured in minutes. Really loved the vibe here and if I lived in the area I would certainly be a regular. read more

Came for lunch for the Labor Day Holiday. Located in the shopping center behind their Starbucks. Was not busy at all, and they had plenty of parking located in their lot. We were seated right away upon arrival. Our waiter was super efficient and friendly (failed to get his name) very attentive and gave great recommendations. I ordered their regular carolina burger with French fries. My sister ordered their French onion soup, pimento but sandwich, and house salad. Their fries were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I'm a French fry person, and these were the best. They were crispy just how I like them and not super hot to where you need to wait till their cold to eat. Burger was delicious as well. The food and service was great, but even though it's called a "family" restaurant, don't bring your kids on Tuesday evening. My husband & I usually have a kids free night on Tuesday's. We were sitting at the bar a couple weeks ago and they were playing some type of game up on the stage. They were playing short portions of songs and some of them contained some pretty explicit lyrics. Songs with the "N" word, some song that said, "I fu**ed a girl and one that said Fu** the police. My husband said, "well, it is a bar." But it was about 8:30 and when I went to use the restroom, there were still kids that looked to be 10 - 12 years old eating with their parents. It's also a great place w live music wonderful soft rock and punk rock it was really good entertaining and people dancing in front of the stage. People of all ages around and the service was friendly although a bit slow to get to you maybe because they are very busy and might need additional staff. Troy and his kitchen staff do a phenomenal job serving quality food and keeps the menu updated with new and exciting dishes. The bar and wait staff are super attentive and always make sure you and your party are taken care of. I spoke with a manager with the WORST attitude and argued me down over 1 meal..out of a $200 dollar order and 15% tip added. WHY would someone lie about a $12 meal after spending so much money ?? i asked if it would me remade so i could get it and SHE TOLD ME PLAIN AND SIMPLE.. NO....after we just spent $271 the manager REFUSED to fix the issue..IM APPLAUD AND DISGUSTED.. we will NEVER give this ESTABLISHMENT OUR MONEY AGAIN. THIS WAS SO UNPROFESSIONAL OF HER AND SHE SHOULD NOT BE IN MANAGEMENT. I have worked in food service before and i KNOW this is not how this should have been solved. That's a drawback in my opinion and quite honestly if I hadn't been so hungry looking for a quick meal? We probably would've left. Again. I had made the suggestion in the last review and got a response from the manager. Nothing changed. I counted and there are 10 tables and 10 booths. I don't see why it would be a problem to alternate servers but because my family is in the business? I found that some managers like to be more organized. So they are strict on this - but - the big places do not do that....you should be able to accommodate the customer. Sidenote? We got there early and there were four open booths. We are always respectful of the timing so we don't overstay. That means we are there to eat. Enjoy the meal when it's just the two of us - and leave - so they can turn the table over. It is my personal opinion - which is nothing to anybody but me, lol! OK Moving on, having said that. Note: he wanted to leave because of it.. Anyway, I had a rough week, just wanted to get a bite to eat that I didn't have to cook or clean up after The coconut shrimp: shrimp, absolutely, very fresh. It was almost dessert like because of the sweet coconut, but I really enjoyed the teriyaki sauce to cut it. So just be warned - it is sweet. If you're looking for savory, this is not it, even with the teriyaki. But I ate them all. The zucchini fries were excellent. Crispy outside and creamy inside. They would've been a little too creamy if not for the horseradish sauce, which is wonderful. I might add? We used that horseradish sauce on the coconut shrimp, the steak, and even on the next dish that we ordered: two shrimp tacos. Again, the shrimp in the tacos? Very fresh. However, I'm gonna make a suggestion: Put a thin layer of guacamole with the shredded lettuce, and perhaps a little bit of shredded cheese - the pico de gallo was a little too spicy for me BUT I felt that it would've been perfect if it had the guacamole to cut it. I believe there were three little shrimps on each taco, adding guacamole and a little bit of cheese, not a lot. That would've made it more savory and four shrimp - more filling. I'm not gonna lie. It was just really skimpy, and I was truly looking forward to a shrimp taco that was a little more filling. I only ordered two tacos because you cannot mix and match the flavors - which is another thing I wish they would allow. I would've absolutely gotten the shrimp taco, a mahi-mahi taco, steak and blue cheese taco. Now, having said that? The ribeye steak was cooked beautifully! Baked potato was excellent. Really loved the thin asparagus. It was cooked perfectly. We would go back even if it was just for the steak. $25. But a good size a good price and cooked wonderfully. They've got a thing going, but there's room for improvement to make it truly perfect. And by that I mean comparing it to Moochies - steak at Trail house was better. Moochies has better buffalo shrimp and tacos. It's really a matter of location for us - because the prices are close and the service is great at both places. Anyway, probably went on too long, but I hope this helped. oh! I did want to add that the food came out very quickly. So Trailhouse does a good job of getting food to table fast. After we had gotten our drinks our waitress whose name was Reagan waited almost thirty minutes to take our food order, even walked past us several times. Not my favorite. My salad with tender chicken breast, pecans, generous blue cheese and blue berries was awesome! Meatloaf got three stars from my son and our neighbor eating the same menu item. Lobster ravioli 4 stars. We were there on a Saturday night and the band was setting up. Live music on the weekend. Lots of screens playing sports inside. Stopped by this place about a month ago and it was pretty good. My friend ordered the Trail House paste which she enjoyed it. I ordered the Trail House Grilled Cheese which was good. Large enough portions that we needed to go boxes. Also while we were there, we tried out the Blueberry Blush (recommended by the waiter) and it was not good. Tasted like cough syrup to be honest. The bar ended up making me a margarita which was tasty and should be added to the regular menu. For desert, we opted to go for the chocolate chip cookie skillet. Good but average tasting. We were seated at a table rather quickly and got some time to look over the menu. I decided on the choice of 3 sliders where I ended up getting fried chicken, grilled chicken, and beef. First, this place is a dump, smells like warmed over sewage. Second, it's run by complete morons. The food absolutely sucks and they have zero sense of what's right and wrong for their customers. The music tonight was bad at best (think Nickleback with way less talent). My best friend, who is absolutely the kindest, gentlest soul I've ever had the pleasure of knowing was TIRED and BORED with the music and atmosphere. He lost his father last night and hadn't slept. Not drunk, not causing any sort of disturbance, not doing anything but nodding off a bit. Had I been inside with this lousy band, crowd and staff, I might have nodded off myself. I walked back into the bar and saw him surrounded by King Kong and Sasquatch (their moronic PROUD BOUNCERS) staring him down like he'd just committed a felony. SO THEY took his drink and cut him off when he was on his first drink and just received their shitty sliders. After this happened, my friend still left a generous tip because that's the type of person that he is. While we were waiting for an Uber to LEAVE, I asked for a drink having not been a party to any of this and they refused service TO ME. Needless to say, that triggered me because I had NOTHING to do with what happened with my friend and was finishing my first drink. I asked the severely addled Bartender to bring the "Manager" over to speak with me but I had to walk over to him because he didn't want to "MANAGE" the situation which happens to be HIS job. I asked why they wouldn't serve me and he said he had to back his bartender. Having been in the industry for many years, I would have respected that had it been based on truth and facts BUT it wasn't. In short, I'll never go back and I'll tell many friends about this situation, actions have consequences and this episode will have a long lasting trickle down effect on their "business." The lesson here is get all the facts before you make a crappy decision. The truth is that I don't think these people can think for themselves and are too stupid to absorb information.
