I scheduled an appointment for my mom at this office to get some crown work done. While the initial…read moreappointment was fairly painless to setup, and the consultation appointment went smoothly, the follow-up afterwards left quite a bit to be desired. While friendly and easy going during the consultation appointment itself, my mom was told at the end of her visit that her insurance through her Medicare provider (DeltaCare USA) was terrible and didn't cover any of her upcoming procedures. This of course sounded rather questionable to me, so I took the quote provided by the office and called up Delta Dental directly to verify the coverage. As it turns out, ALL but 1 of the scheduled procedures WAS covered by insurance with only a co-pay required. The office was literally trying to over-charge my mom by THOUSANDS of dollars! Multiple calls made into the office all went either unanswered or un-returned despite a promise that someone would call me back. And multiple emails all went unanswered. Ironically, we received a reminder from the office to schedule an appointment, to which I replied back to and finally was able to get ahold of someone live to call me back. The person handling the billing first attempted to claim that the procedure codes change from what was originally quoted. And then that they never told my mom (despite me hearing this as well and it actually stated on the written quote provided) that insurance would not cover any of the procedures. This individual was actually quite rude about the whole situation over the phone as if we were somehow mistaken and in the wrong. I stood firm that I: a) had the written quote they provided right in front of me b) provided the insurer with the procedure codes which this office provided, and the co-pay amounts which we would be responsible for per the insurer. c) and disputed the lie that they did not claim that insurance did not cover anything And only then did they concede with a gentler tone and provided an updated (and SIGNIFICANTLY lower) amount that my mom was actually responsible for. I can only imagine this office probably gets quite a few seniors with this same coverage that experience the same scenario we went through above. But I'm sure not all of them have enough insight to do their own research and most likely takes what this office tells them at face value. Thus resulting in significant overpayment despite having coverage.

So glad I found SSF Heart Dentistry! I was worried about finding a good dentist with my HMO but Dr…read more Tsoi is probably my favorite general dentist ever. He's thorough, kind, and cares about his patients. He explains everything that he's going to do, talks to you and keeps you updated while examining, and is fully honest with his recommendations but not pushy in any way. He gives above and beyond advice and explanations to all your questions. So far, I've done my check up, deep clean, and 2 cavity fillings with him. Even though I'm switching to a PPO soon, I'm staying with SSF Heart Dentistry and excited to also do my sensitivity fillings (didn't even know this was a thing! can't wait to be able to drink cold water without potential pain again) and also implant in the new year. Also, office experience is 10/10. The receptionists are so kind, as well as the dental assistants. On my third time in (and even my second time), most of, if not all, recognized me! The office space itself is clean, as open layout as can be with various chairs, and safe/inviting. I've never had great experiences with dental care growing up so I'm extremely glad I found this place very close to my apartment.

DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST…read more I have never been treated so disrespectfully by such a rude, incompetent dentist in my life. At my first appointment for X-rays and cleaning, i was scheduled for 5:00 pm, they didn't start until almost 6. I noticed immediately how rude his staff was. The only kind person was the woman who works the front desk. The rest of the staff made it clear they do not want to be there. When I met the dentist, he spent more time sharing innapropriate political opinions than addressing my teeth. I had checked off in the questionnaire that I experience anxiety, and when he first met me, he asked me why I had anxiety (?!) Working in mental health, I was astonished at how he phrased the question, asking it in such a demeaning and sarcastic way. He also made jokes about the state of my teeth. I truly think he doesn't not understand patient care. I'm shocked he's still in buisness. Today, I returned for my scheduled fillings appointment. He knew I have TMJ and that I was worried about jaw pain. He seemed annoyed that he had to use a tool that is commonly used to help people keep their jaws open while doing my fillings. Again, he started talking about politics and making innapropriate conversation. With my mouth wide open, I can't tell him I'd rather not discuss it. He seemed to rush through the fillings. When he asked me to open wider, it was with a rude and condescending tone. His assistant was also rude and aggressive with how she was using the suction / water spray in my mouth. He was rude when speaking to her too. The fillings were done, and it was time to sand them down. He began sanding them, and checked to see if I could still feel the extra filling. I had to tell him 5-6 times I could still feel it. Not only was he deep sighing and scoffing, he began to get annoyed that I was "using too much of the imprint tape" and that "I might be able to feel it but he believes evidence." I was SHOCKED. How could a dentist ask me if I can feel the 4 fillings he just did, I say yes and point to where my bite is now uneven, and he gets upset with me? I became extremely uncomfortable. Not only was this man gaslighting me and telling me I COULDN'T FEEL IT but he was extremely rude and sassy when denying me MY REALITY. I've had fillings before. I know how it feels when they're sanded down properly. I kept my cool, trying to be polite as possible, as this man and his rude assistant were scoffing at me. He kept looking over at another patient who had arrived for their appointment, rushing with me, making passive aggressive comments under his breath to his assistant. The final time he asked me if I could still feel it, I told him yes, and pointed again to where it felt uneven. He got annoyed, rolled away from me and said "well, I guess I'll just keep going then." The amount of tension and anger I felt coming off of him made it so I no longer felt safe being around him or his staff. I knew I had to leave. No dentist should be that annoyed or mad at a patient for STILL FEELING A POORLY DONE FILLING. I asked to stop and informed him id get the sanding down done at another dentist. He got upset, rolled away on his chair and threw his hands up in the air. He definitely has anger issues. I got up, began to cry, because I have never been treated so disrespectfully before in my life by a medical professional. Ever. I told them I will get it done elsewhere. He began to ask me what was wrong, playing dumb, as if he hasn't just been treating me horribly and denying my reality. I let him know I'd never been treated so terribly and will never be returning to his office. He didn't apologize, he did not try to make it right. I went to the front desk, they let me know it was covered by my insurance, no copay. I left. Please do not go to this dentist office. I should've checked yelp before I went here. This man should not have a license.

Front desk was friendly, the dental office/equipment looked modern, and the dentists were efficient. Each procedure was explained and front desk helped with scheduling and often notifying for upcoming appointments. So the reason why I stopped going... I had a filling redone due to it coming off. However, I had pain around the same tooth for months. I couldn't eat on that side at all. I went back in for checkups to see if they can figure out what's going on. The head dentist told me to consider getting a crown since there seems to be a cracking on the tooth. They offered to cover the costs however I thought it was a bit extreme to get a crown from a routine filling. Over the next couple months, I would go back multiple times since the pain didn't go away. This included shaving part of the filling, redoing the filling, and trying to figure out my bite. And the final time I went there for a checkup, I was just told it could just be a neurological thing and almost made it sound like it was my fault and they can't do anything about it. The only reason why I kept going back was to give them the opportunity to fix what they had messed up. I ended up looking for another dentist and I told them my issue. They were able to figure what was wrong, and redid my filling. Now I have no pain.
