Everything was amazing! I'd give 5 stars but the salsa wasn't my favorite, it's good though!

My Mother-in-law had been talking about Jorrge's for a while and we had never been there, so when it came time to choose a place to celebrate her 89th birthday, she chose to go there. :-) The restaurant is festive, with lots of color and lights. The staff was very friendly and the owner even came out and wished her a happy birthday. I ordered the fajitas with beef and chicken, it was good but I would probably go with just the chicken next time as it was better. It was honestly the worst decision we've made as far as eating out goes. They brought our 4 year olds food out 20 minutes before our dishes. He didn't like his food ($9 for a kids taco just meat and cheese) then charged a 2nd time for the remaKe. we asked for sour Cream ($2 up charge) and guac ( $4 up charge.) the food quality is cheap. Stopped in for my mother's birthday she is a regular. Very fun atmosphere treated us like we were life long friends. The food was good American Mexican food, well balanced and seasoned well. Service was efficient and friendly. The golden margaritas were a big hit with the table. read more

We tried Jorrge's for the first time today for take out. It was a cute little place and we ordered at peak time on a Friday night. The food was great and while I waited inside it seemed like everyone truly loved that place and many were regulars which is always a good sign. The owner seems really kind and helpful which is also great to see from a business! We will definitely be back to dine in! read more

Tonight we stopped by Jorrges on Wilmington Pike after a friend recommended the restaurant is run by one of the people involved with Pepitos which used to be a few blocks away. The restaurant location is the former BBQ restaurant & Friendlys has cool Mexican cantina feel with lots of colorful lights. When you arrive they have warm corn chips & homemade salsa at your table. They have quite the menu with burritos, tacos, quesadillas, chimichangas, enchiladas and a few specialties. Our group enjoyed a mini chicken burrito, super beef burrito and Chicken sandwich special. The restaurant was packed with people waiting for tables, but felt bad as their was only one waitress for the restaurant, another gentleman bringing out chips & salsa, another bringing out food from the kitchen & another cleaning tables. Their margaritas looked really good & will have to try on another visit. Draft beer comes in a huge frosted stein. But the food took forever to come from the kitchen, once it did it was hot, people loved the red sauce on the burritos. We go out for Mexican quite often and typically frequent three places close to our home. We decided to try something new because the menu looked intriguing. I'll start with what we did like. My husband enjoyed his chimichanga. He said he would rate it 8 out of 10. He always orders chimichangas and hasn't found one that's a 10, so 8 is not a bad rating from him (he doesn't like the five star scale for some reason). The chips were hot and fresh. The salsa was tasty, but not spicy enough for us. The guacamole was good, but not the best we've had. My tamale was pretty good. It's not something I usually order so I don't have much to compare it to other than one I had last week at a restaurant in Florida that was amazing. That one was better. The best part was the owner. He was very nice and friendly. He thanked us for coming in and chatted a bit. He even brought us complimentary shots. This was a nice gesture. I almost feel bad for only giving them 3 stars because he was so great. We really appreciated the welcoming feeling of a family run business. I ordered the combo #9 with chili relleno, tamale, and enchiladas verde. The chilies were the worst I've ever had. I tried three bites from different sides of the pepper hoping they just had a bad spot or two, before declaring it inedible. They almost tasted like they had paper in them. Very chewy and tasteless. I wanted to spit them out, but that's just rude, so I choked them down. They also messed up my order. They initially brought me a taco instead of the chili relleno (in hindsight, the taco would have been preferable) and a plain enchilada (no verde). The enchilada was average at best. The refried beans were weird - chunky whole beans, not smooth like other Mexican restaurants. The frozen margarita was too icy and a little too sweet. It tasted good at first, but ended up being like a snow cone. The owner suggested a gold margarita on the rocks and said he would take it back if I didn't like it. It was pretty good, but I normally prefer frozen. It was a Monday night and they weren't busy, but the service was extremely slow. This was obviously due to lack of servers as I only saw one. He passed by our table many times without checking on us. The owner said his wife normally serves, but she was recovering from surgery, so I would imagine service is usually better when she's there. I got the impression he was just filling in for her because he wasn't a very good server. Everyone has different tastes obviously, and most people seem to enjoy this place, so I would suggest you give it a try for yourself as you may have a totally different experience with the food. I would imagine if I said something about my dissatisfaction with the food that the owner would have tried to correct it, so that's my bad. If they had outside seating, I might go back to give them another chance, but because it's a drive from us, no patio, so-so food, and very slow service, we would probably won't go back. read more

We always go to El Toro's for Taco Tuesday, but I had to drop my truck off at a shop near here, so we thought we would try something new on a Tuesday. We asked the waitress if they had Taco Tuesday, and she said 'that's only for the chain restaurants.' I had the veggie fajitas, my wife the bean dip. The bean dip was small, but tasty. The veggie fajitas were basically a pan of fried carrots broccoli green peppers and onions with no Mexican seasoning whatsoever - very bland. The fajita sides were also meh - rice was dry, beans out of a can, with some Kroger shredded cheese - not exciting at all. If you are not a chain restaurant, you definitely need to do better on the food to have people come back. read more

I am Soooo sorry to have to say this. I would love to support a local business but the food really wasn't good. I love to munch on chips and salsa while waiting for my meal but I couldn't bear the taste of the salsa. I kept getting a fishy taste. I had a chicken chimichanga meal and my husband had a chicken taco salad. Both meals were completely bland. My margarita, however, was very tasty. The decor was pleasant and semi-authentic. I'm not sure why they had white icicle Christmas lights hanging from the ceiling, but there were sombreros tacked to the wall. The staff was very friendly, although virtually no sign of Mexican personnel in this Mexican restaurant, which was strange. I don't think the other local Mexican cuisine establishments have anything to worry about from Jorrge's. In my opinion, the only way this place will make it is if they improve their food. Recently dined for the first time at this restaurant. It is a very welcoming ambiance and very comfortable. We were greeted and seated promptly and immediately the owner brought out chips and salsa. Our server who I assume was the owners wife was promptly over to take our drink orders, the draft beer I ordered in a great iced mug, tall and cold. I ordered the huevos rancheros which was severed hot and seasoned correctly. I also ordered a side beef taco which was one of the tastiest I have had in the area due to the seasoning on the beef. My wife ordered the chicken flauta dinner which she said was very good and so big she could not eat it all. Although this was our first visit, it will become our go to for Mexican food in the future. read more

We came here for the second time in one week and everything was wonderful! We brought my mother for dinner and she loved it as well. We got two different meals, but still got the Mexican pizza with ground beef and the banana chimichanga dessert. The shredded beef and cheese sauce was great in an entree. We look forward to returning! This is the best Mexican in the Dayton area! The service is incredible and they genuinely care about your business. It's pains me to do this to a small local restaurant, but I just have to. We first went here on a weekday and walked into a sign that said they were out of hard shell tacos, tortilla chips, and soft tacos. I thought it was weird for a Mexican place to run out of all that but that must mean they make their chips and hard tacos from the same soft shell. The salsa also looked super good in last reviews which is the main reason I wanted to try this place. Nope. Chips were nothing special and clearly from a bag. Salsa was AWFUL! Seriously, I think they mixed the enchilada red sauce with cilantro and called it a day. I think I may have saw a piece of 1 piece of corn in it? Which is weird but at that point would have made this bland salsa broth better sadly. Next was queso, tasteless. The margarita was thick and had too much sour. After all these fails we decided to pass on dinner. When we told our sever as nicely as possible we were just sticking to drinks and queso, she was annoyed. "Interesting" is what she said. I loved my shrimp tacos! I love the fact that the spices are not overwhelming and you can taste every ingredient. Love love the chips and their salsa. Our food was lukewarm at best. To our surprise the tacos were served in STORE bought hard taco shells also lukewarm as well, the shells were cold. This was our second visit. We like to support new restaurants. But the food was marginal Mexican. The owner was very friendly, as was one of the servers, unfortunately she was chatting the entire time we were there with other clients which distracted her to other clients needs, possibly why our food was like warm. Sorry Jorrge's but I was so disappointed. Improve on your tortillas, flour and corn, no hard, preformed taco shells, hot food and attentive server. read more

Ordered delivery from here recently. I got the impression someone went to a discount grocery store and bought a few things and decided to open a Mexican restaurant. Nothing had any flavor to it at all. Very mediocre at best. Black bean soup tasted like just beans in water with sour cream on top. No flavor to the broth. Ground beef had little seasoning. Guacamole was fresh but bland. Cheese dip was bland. If you like extremely mild food, you might like it. But if you appreciate properly seasoned Mexican food, go elsewhere. read more
