Jose Tejas is one of those places that proves a busy restaurant is usually busy for a reason. The portions are huge, the drinks are strong, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for how much food you get. We sat at the bar, ordered way too much for two people, and enjoyed every bit of it. The empanadas, which are clearly a crowd favorite, absolutely delivered, and I loved that there were vegetarian options not just for those but across the menu more broadly. That made a big difference. Yes, it's crowded, and yes, you should think about reserving before you go, but the wait is worth it. The staff was also really helpful and kept things moving despite how packed the place was. If you're in Iselin, Jose Tejas is an easy recommendation.

I've been coming here for 26 years. This place is a must go to when in Jersey. The fajitas are bomb and the blackened dishes are so flavorful. Chips and salsa are addicting. Service was prime. Extremely busy 24/7.

Jose Tejas is a must try for tex mex. Been at this location for years and the food always remains the same quality. It's fresh, service is quick, and if you come on a weekend or Friday night there will be a wait. The dark lights inside make it cozy, it's not a huge location but in the summer they offer outdoor dining which accommodates more seating. Highly recommend if you're in the area, definitely check out their margaritas.

This is my go to Mexican spot in nj, the food and service is good and the interior is really nice. I came here on a Friday night and only waited about 30 mins. Everytime I come here I always try something new. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Love how they give complimentary chips and salsa

The food was pretty mid and honestly way too salty for our liking. It is fairly priced, so I guess you get what you pay for. The vibes and drinks were great, and the staff was pretty friendly.

Get in at opening and it's the only time you'll see it empty!

Jose Tejas never disappoints! You can't go wrong with their margaritas! Always delicious and perfectly made. The complimentary chips and salsa are fresh and addictive, and the steak and chicken fajitas come out sizzling and full of flavor every time. Fun atmosphere, great food, and consistently good service. Always a solid choice!

I'm still sad they took the crawfish quesadilla off the menu but the food was good and great service

    Lots of seating

Ask the Community - Jose Tejas

Do they take reservations on the weekends?

They do not take reservations on any day.

Do they accommodate party of 20? Do they require all the members of party to be available before assigning the table?

Yes. Plan ahead as it gets packed everyday for both lunch and dinner

I work in the area, can one person have a meal at the bar?

    Absolutely

Does anyone know if the Carne Asada is still on the menu?

    Yea, it is. Enjoy!

Is Jose Tejas back to its full menu for dine in or are they still doing a limited menu?

Limited menu with no chance of substitutions

Before I go...is Chicken Guadalajara with cornbread and Chimichurri steak available for dine in?

No! Those are my and entire family & friends favorite. Needless to say, none of us - about 10 people have been there since they took those 2 off the menu. So sad. We would go almost every week.

How many different items are they serving since opening back up from COVID? I heard it's very few....

    Full menu!

Is there outdoor dining with heaters in the cooler with her months?

    There is an outdoor tent

Are the seafood enchiladas back on the menu?

There's quite literally 12 things on the entire menu. It's awful. Seafood Enchiladas aren't one of them.

Does anyone happen to know if they've gone back to the full menu or is it still only like 9 entrees and 5 apps?

As of when I went a few weeks ago it was still a limited menu

    Do they cater?

Unfortunately, Jose Tejas only offers Dine-in and Curbside pickup.

How much time in advance should I call to reserve a table?

    They don't take reservations

Do they have indoor dining now in 2021?

    Yes they do.

Can you have a party of 6?

    Yes

    Do they have full menu?

They have a good assortment of thing to choose from but menu hasn't changed for as long as I can remember .

    Is the meat halal?

    I'd say no, it's more like a Tex-Mex restaurant .

    Do they accommodate vegans?

Probably not. They're menu hasn't changed in years.

I heard they don't accept Discover cards, is it true?

    Yup, don't take discover

What is the approximate wait time, specifically on a Friday evening?

Depends on how many in the party, what time you get there, and a bunch of other variables, but usually an hour at minimum. Great part is that you can just stand at the high top tables near the bar, enjoy a drink, and eat some chips and salsa which…

Deciding if going for a birthday..they don't serve desserts?

They do not serve desserts! But the apparently allow you to bring your own cake if you want

It was enough food for a dinner, so I brought the rest home since it was lunchtime. Nice open & spacious atmosphere in the dining area. Very clean with many regular tables and chairs and also high (bar height) tables & chairs spaced nicely. Also 2 counter style seating areas; 1 overlooks the street. Orders can be placed on a Kiosk computer or directly with an employee. A friendly and helpful female employee was patient with the many questions I had since this was my first time there. The food preparation area was efficient; the workers wore gloves. The food is delicious and there's quite a variety including protein foods, toppings and sides... see photos. Definitely recommend & I will be returning again! Note: For those with walkers or wheelchairs, there are 2 entrances ~ one with a nice long ramp & the other with stairs. Both open to a foyer. It would be a good idea for a person with a wheelchair or walker to be dropped off as soon as you pull into the driveway, rather than walk from the parking lot. (1) The online prices are different than the actual prices. The lady's answer, "It must be an old menu." Not my problem, but you charged me more for every single item, so maybe it is my problem. I asked for a new menu- they didn't have one. Come on,now.....I guess so you can keep ripping your customers off (2) They don't tell you on the phone it is cash only. So you either have to leave and go to a bank or ATM that doesn't charge or pay the $2.25 fee, which sucks. (3) The food- I paid $30.75. I got 3 carnita tacos, 2 chicken tacos, the taco platter (4 ground beef tacos), 2 empanadas (beef) and rice and beans. The price sounds okay, right? NOOOOOOOOOO. GREASE CITY. THE GREASIEST MOST OILY FOOD I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. DISGUSTING TO OPEN THE PACKAGES AND ALL THERE IS ...IS GREASE ALL OVER MY HANDS, MAKING THE HARD SHELL AND SOFT SHELLS SOGGY AS EVER. What a disgrace to the art of cooking to have so much friggin grease. I could've went to White Diamond if I wanted to eat food that was going to give me a stomach ache. I am so very angry. I just called the place but they're conveniently closed. I wanted to bring this food back and tell them to eat it esp Bc the lady wasn't that polite. I'm attaching pictures so you can see that I am not exaggerating. At this point, it doesn't even matter what the taste of the food was, because I felt like I just bought from an expensive fast food place. I should've went to Taco Bell, but I wanted authentic tacos and the reviews from all these people really made me think it was good here. Bianca's - really bad business to serve people food with grease dripping everywhere. I don't think you care much about your customer's satisfaction, otherwise you would have a NEW UPDATED MENU ONLINE and you would never subject anyone to a heart attack w all this grease. Needless to say - I ate the hard shell tacos. Threw the soft shells out and used my own tortillas empanadas right to the trash can. I have a stomach ache and so does my bf. Just-from the hard shell tacos. First and very last time I spend any of my hard earned money here again. And Bianca's - I'll send you the bill for my dry cleaning since the ridiculous amount of grease dripped all over my shirt.
