    Guava margarita

We came here for an earlier dinner and were sat right away. The decor in here is so amazing, colors vibrant, definitely makes you instantly happy. Our waiter was very kind taking time to explain the menu and discuss what choices would be best for us. I had the guava margarita with a tajin rim absolutely amazing drink. The roasted corn and tomato guacamole had a ln authentic rustic flavor. The chicken enchiladas were delectable, entire plate done. Family friendly and decent pricing.

We went to Meximodo, Metuchen, NJ for my birthday on May 5th. It was a great experience. We had a lovely afternoon with great food and ambiance. Ordered corn and roasted tomatoes Guacamole, El Jefe bowl, and Enchiladas with Verde sauce with veggie trio and in drinks ordered Margarita. Everything was really good but enchiladas hit the spot. Loved the vibe of the place. It's a beautiful space. Service was great too.

Presentation was good, but the flavors didn't exactly wow us. Look, this place is good for drinks and a hang. But wouldn't necessarily go out of my way for the tacos. Standout was their chocolate mole salsa

Food and atmosphere were good & cute for a girls night. Loved their margarita. They have a parking deck behind the restaurant & they are able to comp the parking! Service could have been a little better, at the end we just felt rushed by the waitress but all in all it was a good spot.

I had a great experience at Meximodo. The atmosphere is beautiful, modern, vibrant, and perfect for a night out.The food was excellent. The chips came with several different salsas, each with its own flavor and spice level, which was a really nice touch. Everything we ordered was fresh and well seasoned. The tacos were delicious, and the elote style dish was rich and flavorful. The drinks were also impressive. The cocktail presentation was beautiful and tasted just as good as it looked. Our waiter Miguel was fantastic.very attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. His service definitely added to the overall experience. Great food, great drinks, great service. I'll definitely be coming back.

Drinks 5 stars (for the area). Food 3.5 stars. Ambience/decor 5 stars. I am a frequent visitor to Meximodo Metuchen because 1) I'm always in Metuchen, 2) They have excellent drinks, 3) they have food my kids will eat, and 4) the ambience is great! With that being said, the food can be just OK sometimes, depending what you get. I do LOVE the chorizo queso fundido and pumpkin queso, yuca fries, and some other random apps and dishes. Shrimp tacos aren't bad too. However, we've gotten the fish tacos and other meat tacos like barbacoa which can be underwhelming or dry (meat). Fish tacos had too much batter and I could barely taste the fish. Was also not impressed by the mole, although the mole sauce itself wasn't bad. The shrimp & watermelon aquachile was plated and presented excellently with smoke and everything, but I'm not sure I would pay $22 for some watermelon again. Would love it if you brought maybe an oxtail or bone marrow taco or surtida tacos, or maybe even some good brisket tacos. Am I also asking for too much to see if you can house make your own tortillas? LOL My fave drink is the cocolada, but they are ALL amazing cocktails. Oh, and they have the largest tequila selection at a bar in the US. My husband is into that though, I'm more of a cocktail person. Service is usually good too and some of them really know their tequilas! I hope they bring back the happy hour specials though, because we always end up spending quite a bit! Also, I ABSOLUTELY love the decor all the time. They change it up with each season and various holidays, and even gave my daughter a legit meximodo teddy bear on valentine's day for brunch!

We've been trying to get in this place for a couple of months and something always tends to happen. Well we got the chance to get in and I see why it's so hard to get in here. The food, drinks, and ambience is out of this world! Great food- get the ribeye tacos its new new on menu. The steak was tender and extremely delicious. We also decided to try the margaritas and those were the best margaritas I've had in a while. The service was quick and the bartender was not only friendly but she made us feel like we were regulars. Definitely worth your while and if you see me in there again say hi!!!!!

Came here for Cinco de mayo. Had a great time it was packed 25 min wait but we were able to get bar seat and order delicious food. I shared wagyu burger and steak tacos everything was great. I did order guacamole and chips and got 3 large chips I think that is not brightest option with all guac they serve much rather smaller chips but they did fix that. The service was great they even gave us free patron shots. The restaurant decorated great and the servers dressed on theme loved the music that was playing will definitely come back. They also have outdoor space for nice weather.

Vibey dinner spot, loud music, it's an experience. Food was 6/10. My favorite was the red snapper. Perfect balance of flavors. Street corn was decent as well! Would go back for apps, drinks, & tacos!

Meximodo is a nice restaurant to dine in aesthetically. My sister, cousin and I decided to dine in at the bar. This restaurant gets pretty busy during a Saturday night. I definitely recommend reservations if you wanna eat at a table but if you don't mind eating at the bar, you will probably get seated a little faster. At the bar I ordered the cocolada for my cocktail. We decided to order the truffle street corn for our appetizer. The appetizer was okay I think I definitely prefer my street corn on a cob but this was a roasted corn puree. Then for our meal we got the chef's taco board and it came with a side so we got the yuca fries because it was perfect for 2-3 people so the 3 of us each got 3 tacos. We decided to get the birria melt tacos, the cauliflower tacos, and the fish tacos. Out of the three I enjoyed the fish taco, the best, but the cauliflower taco was also pretty good. The birria taco was just OK. As for the yuca fries, I did enjoy those, but wish they were a little bit more crispy. Overall, we all agreed that our food was on the colder side so it wasn't as enjoyable. But we also all agree that the fish taco as well as the cauliflower taco had a nice flavor.

Great spot! a fun night out, gorgeous space. and large windows that open up into a balcony to enjoy an indoor or outdoor experience. we had an array of food, the truffle street corn appetizer was delicious. as well as the mango guacamole. for the entrees we enjoyed the tacos and strip steak. they were launching a new menu that week, so unfortunately we waited a long time for our food. however. we were enjoying the time and our server was excellent. great spot for good food and nice dining

Beautiful place located in the heart of a quaint town. Decor: when you walk in there is a large wall of Tequila bottles. Very open and dark. We made reservations but waited 10 minutes to be seated. It was very crowded. Prices are reasonable. Now some negatives: I didn't care for where we were seated. We were 3 people and they made a table for us upstairs in what looked like their party room. There was a table of teenage girls there for their birthday. I wanted to be in the main dining room. Also there was a DOG at the table next to us and it was not a service dog!!! If I come back I will suggest downstairs.. also to smuggle a dog into a restaurant is completely unacceptable. She whipped the dog out of her pocketbook as though she had been hiding it all night. I am HIGHLY ALLERGIC. (sidenote the dog was adorable and well behaved, but should not have been in a restaurant on a Saturday night. ) Service was very slow. It took a while for water refills and drink orders. Now onto the food: the street corn was delicious but small. Plantains were good. I also had a mango frozen margarita. (at least I think it was a frozen margarita. It came in a martini glass while everyone else had a margarita glass so I have a problem with that as well. Margaritas belong in a margarita glass ). It was good. The steak and cheese taco was also good. And the tres leches was good.

    Samantha R.

The Queso Fundido and the Fish tacos were great! The mangolada went down too easily! I'd love to come back here.

Warm, friendly and professional. He was attentive and perceptive. He didn't hover but anytime we needed he re-appeared. We were greeted by two out of the three managers, 10 out of 10. Now for the food! We ordered the rice balls, maple wings a Pepper pig pizza and for my cocktail I had the blue Hawaiian. Every thing was delicious hot and freshly made. To make matters worse, a server took away one of the pizza trays while my dad was still actively eating from it--I'm not exaggerating. It was only 9:04 PM, and we were simply finishing our meal before leaving. On top of that, I ordered the Bucatini, and it was severely overcooked. My mom ordered another pasta that also wasn't good. Overall, a very disappointing dining experience with poor service and subpar food.

I noticed AFTER we ordered that there was a cocktail special that night. Our waitress never mentioned any specials, so I tried to flag her down after I had already ordered a different one not on the list. I mentioned to the hostess what I needed, and I hung out waiting for our waitress at the front. After waiting at least 15 min for her to show up from the back, I was able to ask her to change my drink order. The food here is FABULOUS. We got the housemade Irish soda bread and it was amazing. Hubby got the shepherd's pie and it was delicious. I got the lamb chops over asparagus and mashed potatoes and it was FANTASTIC ! I don't know if our waitress was new or what, but our meals were delivered without silverware. We waited several minutes, then finally flagged down another waitress so that we could eat ! If it wasn't for the poor service, this place could easily be 5 stars due to the fabulous food. Thankfully we got out of there before the live music started, loud music is not our vibe. At the very end of the meal, somehow my original drink order made an appearance (that's what I was afraid of, that she didn't cancel the order). The folks at the table next to us ordered the exact same cocktail, so when the bar tried to give it to us, the waitress told them to give it to the table next to us instead. Geez, we were already paying for our meal at the time. Lol The manager did come out and the end of the meal to ask how things were. I did mention I thought our waitress might be new. I didn't get an answer as to if she was, but I posed it more as a statement than a question.

I could see how this might be a little harder to get a seat for a bigger group if you aren't there before 6. It seemed that once a group got a big table, they camped out. The drinks were strong and creative. Friendly bartenders, good music, and yummy options for bar snacks. Also, the bathroom is a nice touch. Given the hell theming for the bar, the bathroom is a 180 and while using the Lou, you can listen to the bible being recited. Theres also a spooky surprise if you press the button in the bathroom. After walking back & forth a few times, we saw another group walking towards the door & they confirmed the place. The bi-level bar and lounge was dark, swanky, and seductive. It would make an excellent spot for dates or groups of friends, like mine. We started off sitting at the bar, as there were no large tables available upon our arrival. However, after about 15 minutes, the host approached to tell us that he could actually seat us. I picked up my glass, which was wet with condensation, and it slipped out of my hands. I was able to collect it with only a minor spill, but the host insisted that the bar staff make me a new cocktail in case the glass had chipped at all. It was a considerate gesture that I greatly appreciated. Plus, since I had already taken a few sips, I was thrilled to get those back in a new glass! In terms of my cocktail of choice, I had opted for the Hot Tijuana Tease, a fiery blend of mezcal, blanco tequila, chile poblano liqueur, and lime juice. So, it was essentially a spicy margarita, and it was excellent. There were clean, crisp notes of peppery heat balanced with layers of robust smoke. My only complaint about the lounge was that the bathrooms were beyond tiny. There were two unisex stalls in a very tight alcove that also included a cramped sink counter. It was awkward and uncomfortable to share that space with another patron. Aside from that, the Hide Rooftop was a beautiful place with a friendly staff and interesting drinks.
