I'm usually very patient w waitresses knowing they are busy trying to care for everyone's request, but I went last weekend and had a terrible time attempting to order drinks, receive the drinks and worst of all the bill. I waited an hour for the waitress to bring the bill and had to remind her several times before she finally brought it. I won't name her but man Joseph's either needs to staff more waitresses and bartenders or continue to frustrate their customers to going to other bars. read more

My husband and I went yesterday to enjoy ourselves. We walked in tried to get a drink from the bar. The bartender women with big lips long black hair and wears black glasses is extremely rude. When we paid for our drinks we were waiting for our change back. We were waiting for $50 dollars back we told her you owe us this money. She threw a drink in my husbands and my face and told us she wasn't going to serve us anymore. She was thinking we werent going to tip but to steal $50 from us that is ridiculous. First off, Joseph's is a BAR to answer people's bad reviews for judging it so much as a restaurant, (hmmm....I guess that's where they come up with the name Joseph's BAR and Grill). Any who, Joseph's is a great place to go eat especially try the salmon mmmmmmm AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! Friday nights and Saturday nights great place to go get your dance on and drinks are a great deal there!! Joseph's carries a good vibe and good for them that it is a high end place, exactly what Downey needs. First timer! Food was pretty good (not the best... but definately not bad), but our server (Melinda, I think) was fantastic... which made up for my Poke Tuna (which i was not impressed with). She was very attentive and friendly... we were all surprised to learn that she too was fairly new (to Joseph's or waitressing)... we would never have known it (by her knowledge of the menu or deamor). Worst service ever.. this is a lounge or a low budget bar?? At the end of the night security comes and taps my girlfriend's elbow to kick her out of a lounge we were paying for at the time. We left Olive Garden at Stonewood Mall, because they don't take reservations, there was a long wait, and it was like Tijuana in there. We went to La Barca and sat there for 15 minutes without even having our drink order taken. So we left. We went to Joseph's, were seated promptly, and our waiter was very attentive. The food and drinks were very good, and we were happy campers. I will say that the menu is somewhat obtuse, and there weren't a lot of items that appealed to me. They might want to consider some updates. One of the owners is always there keeping the staff on their toes (particularly the pretty waitresses). He looks somewhat like John Carradine...we call him the undertaker! He runs a good joint though, and that's what counts! read more

I was here on Sunday night, 6/11/2017, with a friend to get something to eat. Place seemed okay when we first got there, hardly anyone there, decent music playing, good atmosphere. We sat down at a booth that the waitress escorted us to and she asked if we wanted to start with some drinks, we said we needed a couple minutes so she told us to wave her down when we were ready. When we were ready, she was by the bar hugging on some guy, not sure if it was a coworker or a patron. Either way, seemed kind of odd. When she noticed us, she came over to take our order and asked for my card to hold a tab open but she said we could pay with cash if we wanted, but she needed a card to keep the tab open, we were only there for food and not alcohol. I said okay, seems strange, but here you go. We proceeded to order our food and a couple of iced teas. She didn't write anything down so I already had a suspicion that we were going to get our orders wrong. A minute or so later she comes back and asks my friend what kind of cheese she had ordered on her pastrami sandwich, she answered and then she asked if I wanted sweetened or unsweetened iced tea, I said sweetened and she was on her way to place our order. When she came back with our drinks, she gave me my friend's drink and obviously her mine. No big deal, it is what it is, even though it wasn't busy at all so I didn't understand the confusion so early. We laughed it off and she went back to tend to other patrons. My iced tea was also unsweetened, the opposite of what I asked for two separate times. About 10 minutes later we got our food and I have nothing negative to say about the food at all, except the fact that she switched our orders again... whatever. Fast forward to the end of the night when we were ready for the bill to come, we wave her down and she comes over and gives us the bill and I told her I will pay with cash so I will need my card back. She proceeds to reach in her pocket and pull out the ledger with the customer's credit cards, lo and behold, mine isn't there. She asks me repeatedly what my name is and I tell her. She showed me the credit cards she had and none of them are mine, as a matter of fact, she only has 2 others, which means to me that she wasn't busy at all if she only had those cards. She said she will check at the bar but proceeds to ask me if I'm sure I gave her my card. I replied that I had, because you said you needed it to keep a tab open even though we said we just wanted food. She takes my cash that I put on the table to pay the bill, obviously without searching for my card again, which is wrong in my eyes. Don't take someone's money from the table when you lose the card you said you had to hold. She makes her way to the bar and comes back a couple minutes later and asks for my name again. I show her my driver's license just in case she heard me incorrectly over the music playing. She again asks if I'm sure I gave her a card because she usually asks for an ID to hold with it. I asked her "If that's really the case, why don't you have any other customer's ID's in your ledger along with their cards?" She didn't respond to that. At this point she seemed a little off, scatterbrained or possibly intoxicated, that's how she was acting, at least. She said she will check around again but all she has is what's in her pocket. By this time it's already 15 minutes or so later and we needed to leave. I find the manager and tell him the entire story and he goes around and tries to find it as well. Nothing. I told him repeatedly we had to leave and I'm not sure how it's possible to lose someone's card. After he looks around a bit more, he said "You won't be paying anything today, and I apologize." I told him that I already paid with cash and before the waitress knew where my card was, she picked up my money from the table to pay our bill and walked away with it. He gave me cash back, after he told me there wasn't anything they could do but call me if they found the card. I told him he needed to at least give me my cash back for the meal and for losing my card, he obliged. The waitress was completely unapologetic and didn't try to make things right with me AT ALL. She was bouncing back and forth between tables when she should have been concentrating on fixing the issue with me. On her way back to one of her tables after I got my money back, she even bumped into me as I was talking to her manager and didn't say a word about that either. I gave the manager my number, and even three days later, I haven't heard a word back from them. This was a totally horrible customer service experience. Completely inexcusable on behalf of the waitress and the manager. read more

Unfortunately this place has left a bad taste in my mouth. Me and two of my girls arrived and immediately smelled vomit by the entrance but still attempted to give it the benefit of the doubt. Well need less to say our experience got worse. My friend asked a male which was with the DJ to take a picture of us three girls by the blue lives matter flag and somehow pic pocketed her . Not even two seconds later we noticed her ID and 80 were missing in her wallet holder and when we approached the DJ he miraculously had it but of course was missing the 80.00 in cash. We spoke to the manager Rodrigo/Ricardo and he contacted an older man who had nothing to do with the incident and the man came and gave us 45.00 cash only which was upsetting. While we're speaking to the manager a dish/bus boy asked me and my friends to stand behind the line that separates the employees from the public. After all this we later contacted the owner and she stated there was alcohol involved and spoke to her DJ and he said he retrieved the wallet from the restroom lady which was a lie. The DJ also stated we us three girls were argumentative and were doing hand gestures towards him after he tried to help us! This place has low class and you can definitely tell because they have no integrity. The owner offered us to have a free dinner to make up for her ghetto employees behavior and actions. Unacceptable they need to do a background and should be more present to watch how their employees treat customers. My department has used this location for some of our county events but it will definitely be changing. Do not take cash to this location and be aware not to leave any of your belongings while you dance or even use the restroom. read more

Horrible service ,horrible establishment the front door security are rude and don't even look you in the eye when talking to you they definitely have a complex. I went last night to pick up my friend I was the DD it was 1:30am and the guy at the door talk at me, not to me saying "no one else is allowed in for the night" at first I didn't even think he was talking to me because he never looked at me, I had my hand out with my Id in it and he never acknowledged me ....he just kept repeating that no one else gets in. I then explained to him I was there to get my friend and I am not going to stay or drink, he then rolled his eyes and finally looked at me with such a rude expression and said " is your friend really in there " I explained yes and please I'll be fast that I'm not going to drink or anything then he abruptly said " let me see your id" and let me in. The nerve! just because I'm not half naked I cant go in or what I felt very discriminated against and will never go back and definitely spread the word to my friends. read more

Yeah I was denied because they supposedly had a dress code because no baggy attired. But my clothes was tight, they had dudes walking in there looking like cholos. With tennis shoes on and baggy pants. But the security was racist he denied me both times, and they was rude. But when we went there on a regular day we got in dressing the same but there service was bad they look at you weird and won't serve you. You have to call them over. And they take along time to service you with food and beverages. If they are only serving there own kind let it be known. All other race will not go there and give them our business. I wanted to like this place. The bartenders were nice, and the music was okay. My girlfriend and I were just hanging in yoga pants and sweatshirts, nothing fancy. But immediately we were hit on by some creep. We tried being polite as he kept hitting on us, but after the third time, it was clear he was not getting the message. I had to tell him to leave us alone and that we were not interested in "being friends." At one point, my friend went to use the bathroom, and since I was alone, this man approached me again! I immediately went to the security and told him about the situation, which he seemed to have noticed and told me he would take care of it. My friend and I decided to leave soon after, and this man followed us to our car!!! I called for the security guard and told him that was the man that had been harassing us all night. He seemed to think it was a big joke, until the second security guard took our complaint seriously and told the first security guard that man should not be allowed in anymore since he was scaring the guests. It was such an awful experience, not just because of the creepy man, but because the security guard clearly did not take our complaints seriously. I will never return to this establishment, and highly recommend that women that come here be aware that they may he harassed and the security guards may simply laugh at the situation. Stopped in with a party of 9 for dinner 730 on a Monday night after a business meeting. Saw that the server had an Ipad for ordering and was impressed at the technology. The fact that the management didn't update the POS to show that they were out of the glass of wine one of us ordered and also the Guinness I ordered was a bit of a surprise to me with that available technology to 86 that in the system. Instead the server had to return to the table and we had to reorder. Well.... maybe they just ran out of both and didn't have a chance to update the system a few minutes ago.(doubtful, but)... No problem.. I let that go. Stuff happens, that's pretty much a non issue at that point. An opportunity for better management involvement, surely, but a non issue in the grand scheme of things. However, when 7 of the 9 people at the table had something incorrect on the plates it was a bit alarming. ( I watched the server ring it all in on the Ipad. She ordered it properly, this wasn't on her in my view). One of our party didn't get his steak until the rest of us were all finished as his initial order was provided in error or was missing. No manager table visit to ensure that we were going to be ok during this entire issue. It is really irrelevant to me, if the server told management or not about these multiple issues. I wondered was she trained to ask management for help in situations like this? Does she trust that management would not help? I now fear that the latter was the case. I don't know. what i do know is that the place was relatively small, not very busy on a Monday night at 9pm, and any halfway decent manager should have noticed that this table was falling into potential disaster when the first plate returned to the kitchen with still frozen fries and done a quick table visit to ensure guest satisfaction. Not here.....About 20 or so minutes after we all had finished (yes we tried for about 10 minutes to politely wait to eat) , the entrée of steak came out with the incorrect sides and not brought out by a manager for our one person that was overlooked. After that, we requested our check and our server dropped the check and had taken off 10 percent off the that one steak!? I requested to speak with a manager in reference to our experience to ensure that someone was aware of what had to have been an off night we experienced. I've done my share of disgruntled table visits in my day at my own restaurants. She visited the table and began with "what's the problem here". I wanted to say "aside from your apparent complete inability to manage this business and the few tables that are in here, your attitude seems to be very unwelcoming and unempathetic to me". But was as polite as I could be and attempted to deflect any of the responsibility from the server who really seemed to be trying her best to work with what she had available. After the manager said that she didn't know that we had an issue... not an excuse. you didn't know what was going on in your own business is admitting to a lack of performance of your most basic job task. She then argued with the server right at our table. AWKWARD... and uncomfortable and unprofessional. The manager split the drinks from the check and took off a percentage of each meal. We left and will surely never return. I honestly feel that I am about as understanding as can be of service staff and restaurants experiencing an off night having been in the business virtually my whole career. This place surely didn't seem managed this evening it was a real shame. Its hard to run a restaurant if you don't understand that the food in concert with the customer experience is what sells your business. Please learn from this and do a better job watching what goes on in your business. You surely didn't seem to care this night. read more

This place sucked. So over packed and the bouncers were rude, you can't dance on the dance floor with your drinks and can't stand in a place for a second before they're moving you out of the way. Oh! I had heard some negative things about this place when they first opened, but heard that things had been improving so my husband and I thought we would check it out for lunch. We arrived at 11:15 and were told that they opened at 11:30. We waited outside in the rain for 15 minutes; and when we walked in we were greeted by another woman who now was saying they opened at noon. Online it even says they open at 11:30. When we informed her that we had been waiting outside for 15 minutes because we were told by one of their employees that they open at 11:30, she offered nothing but an apology. Joseph's, if you're reading this, you could have kept our business by apologizing, inviting us in to sit at the bar and offering us a complimentary drink while we waited for your kitchen to open since it was YOUR fault for the misunderstanding.
