Went out for an Anniversary dinner.. Asked to be seated in dining room. We were told it was closed but we have a nice patio. The patio is a huge garage that was freezing. Ordered Fried Calamari, Salad and the Aged $115 Porterhouse steak for two medium rare. Calamari was like eating fried rubber bands. The salad was so drenched in dressing which it was soggy. Best part was the steak was RAW. Not even edible. We had to take it home to cook it. Desert order was Double Espresso ,Sambuca and Cheesecake. 10 Minutes later the waitress returns and apologizes stating the Espresso machine is broken but here is a coffee on the house. We called ahead to see if the bar was crowded and were told that it usually slows down on Saturday nights so we should be good, mentioned we wanted to see the Knicks and have a meal. We arrived to discover the bar was shutdown but the patio was open. We went out to discover they had music planned and the bar/restaurant was one open area. Luckily they had tv's and after searching were able to get the game on so we sat at the bar to enjoy a nice meal. We ordered and all chose soup instead of salad and I subbed the NE Clam Chowder for the Soup de Jour but only after asking the bartender if it was an option- she said I could sub any soup for the soup de jour, i asked again just to make sure and was told yes I can sub. Food started coming out- stuffed clams- really good with a nice broth to go with it and then the soups-bowls, not cups-pleasant surprise. Again, really good, could be a standalone meal! Then the meals, stuffed shrimp- loved it, Tuscan Short ribs-outstanding but the 2 filets were a bit off. Both were to be medium but one was med rare, the other medium well. The offer to cook more was politely declined and the medium well wasn't highlighted til the end of the meal so too late by then to do anything. Lovely desert menu with a fudge cake for home. Now the fun part with the bill and the reason for this post. I rarely look at the bill but something told me to check it out this time. The second item on the bill were the 3 soups showing $21 and two spots down an upcharge for my NE Chowder! The soups were to be included and an upcharge was never mentioned for the NE! We asked the bartender and she said " Oh, the soups showed up as a separate item? . And there is an upcharge for the NE." I mentioned it was to be a soup or salad option and an upcharge was never mentioned. She said, no there is an upcharge, I replied it was never mentioned- we went back and forth and she said I'll take the soups off-as if doing us a favor even though it was to be included but the upcharge didn't come off. We didn't bother just took the upcharge off her tip. Beware of price gouging and quite frankly, a steakhouse should be able to cook a steak correctly. read more

Our first visit and it was a great success! We decided to eat in the dining room which is a more intimate setting, but the patio is also available and they can close the outside doors when it gets cold outside. They also have live music 3 nights a week. We started with drink specials and a couple appetizers...shrimp cocktail and a caprese salad. For entrees, we had filet mignon, prime rib, bone in ribeye, and a fish and chips sandwich. Everything was great, and the filet mignon was so tender and juicy. My good friends talked me into making the hour and a half trip for Sunday night karaoke. Best choice ever! All of the staff, including the owner are friendly and the food is delicious! Made my reservation weeks before Valentine's Day arrived at Joseph's 15 minutes prior to reservation.Got sat on time .Ordered appetizer calamari came out in reasonable time.Calamari was rubbery and maranara sauce in a plastic dipping cup.With his prices you would think they could afford better esthetics. Ordered our food at 6pm.ordered drinks they were amazing.At 7 my wife and I still waiting for our food.As the server was coming with our food at 7:15 another server who was extremely rude bumped our server and our food was all over the floor.At this point I was already hangry! Then all of a sudden these two server began to brawl in the restaurant as if we were at a WWE event.We then waited for another 10 minutes and no one came out to apologize about our food and the whole debacle .At this point it's 7:30 and we haven't received our food.My wife and I got up and exited.Our night had been ruined !!!!!!! I proceeded to call the restaurant and explained my frustration with evening and left my number with management so the owner Joseph could call me back.Never received a call back from Joseph ? I then called Tuesday and was told they had lost my number !! I was then told Mr Joseph had left town on vacation to Florida .Today is March 8 and still have not got a response from Joseph or his team.I've been to this establishment before with no hick ups.Very disappointed with Joseph's Italian Steak House!!!!!!! I was in Albany for work and on the way home we decided on an early dinner. I went to Yelp for help with a good restaurant and they demanded that we eat at Joseph's. It's a nice evening so we chose to sit on the outside patio. Slight downside, a little road noise. Now let's get this out of the way. If you're looking for spaghetti and meatballs, or baked ziti, just keep on walking and go to the local pizzeria. This is real Italian style food. They have a full menu with many selections. They also have a price fixed menu, which, not sure but I think just Friday nights. Either way we were the winners. We started with baked clams. In real clam shells, not those aluminum things. These baked clams were moist and loaded with chopped clams. For my main entree I had their spinach infused tagliatelle pasta with jumbo shrimp in a white wine sauce. This was beyond excellent. The portion size was perfect too. Not like Guido's pizzeria where they pile on 2 lbs of pasta so you either explode or take it home and throw it out. My wife had the stuffed shrimp over lobster risotto. Loved it. Now desert. My wife had their apple crisps and I had the blueberry strudel. I had some of both and you should never pass up on these. I mentioned that we chose to sit on the patio which had Italian music playing all night. Very romantic. Now for a fantastic surprise. When I checked in I not a notice of 20% off a purchase of $50. I can't believe it. Amazing food, romantic ambiance, oh, I forgot to mention our waitress, Dierdra, who was excellent. Checking occasionally and always making sure out drinks were full. Last, the prices. Even without the 20% discount for yelpers, the prices were more than reasonable. I loved this restaurant, and will return anytime I'm in the area. I made reservations several weeks ago. When we walked in I gave my name and the number in our party. The owner not and repeat d my name. The host walked over to a table for four. I said we have seven in our party. She asked if I had a reservation I said yes and it was confirmed through text. She said she didn't have it in their books. I was put out by her remark. Regardless she should have apologized and said "don't worry we can accommodate you."Instead she left us in silence and started pulling together tables. Never told us the table was ready when she was done. She just walked away. The owner came over and asked if we had been seated. I said not yet. The place was empty mind you. We finally sit down to find the dining chairs are wobbly and there is no heat. They eventually got space heaters that helped towards the end of our meal. We sat there freezing. No apology no compensation. We would have left but we had a large group and didn't feel we'd be able to get a table in a timely fashion elsewhere. So we stayed hoping things would improve. They didn't. They didn't have milk and were out of mozzarella sticks. Our meals were on average fair. Quality for the price was not there at all. Huge disappointment for our family. read more

Ok, don't go for the ambiance because while clean, it's MIA. However everything gets better quickly. Service by Renee was great. Also I have to mention how reasonable of them steak and prime rib prices are here. There's even a note from the owner on the menu about the rising cost of beef and how he does not plan to pass that on to his customers or sacrifice quality. He's not doing either. People like this we need to support with our business. We started with the Bam Bam shrimp based on her recommendation. She was right. You receive six large or jumbo shrimp lightly breaded and fried in Panko breadcrumbs. They were perfectly cooked and delicious. The dinner salads are well proportioned and not the normal boring salad. The dressings are homemade and we highly recommend the blue cheese and the homemade Italian dressings. I also have to mention that homemade Italian bread they serve. It is fantastic. For our entrees we had the pan seared cod with lobster cream sauce, accompanied by risotto and broccoli. I have a large, 16 ounce, prime rib. It normally comes with mashed potatoes and broccoli but I had double broccoli and skipped the carbs. The cod with some of the best we have had anywhere. The risotto was delicious as well and the broccoli was perfectly cooked. As for the prime rib (only $45), another success. Ordered medium rare and it came out a perfect medium rare. It was tender and very flavorful. Our waitress also brought some creamy horseradish sauce as well. We actually had dessert and tried the brownie à la mode with whip cream and chocolate sauce. It was good, but something you can easily make at home. I would try something more creative next time. We also experienced the fruit flies that others have talked about but they did not show up until dessert for some reason. read more

Went out to dinner to celebrate my father's eightieth birthday with him and my cousin on Sunday night. All three of us woke up in the middle of the night on Monday/Tuesday and got sick (vomiting, etc). We all ate the bam bam shrimp and had salad. I must have driven by this place thousand times and finally decided to stop in with a friend of mine. We were greeted by a friendly waiter who allowed us to pick our table on the patio as it was not that crowded yet. The patio is done very nicely and my only complaint would have to be the noise from the traffic going by... However that tiny inconvenience would be more than over come when the food came. I started out with the onion strings with ranch dressing. Normally you expect a dish like this to be quite greasy however this was anything but. The onion strings were crispy not greasy and went perfectly with the dipping dressing. Next I had the mushroom risotto and mind you it took a bit of courage to order such a dish at a steakhouse but it is Joseph's "Italian" steakhouse... Needless to say the risotto was delicious. Now for the main course as I was hungry I decided to go with the big cut of prime rib. When it arrived at the table I took a moment to awe in the size and perfection of the meat... The coloring was perfect it was juicy and just the right amount of fat. First bite literally melted in my mouth... I don't know what type of rub they use on this prime rib but it is absolutely phenomenal. I kept saying to myself there's no possible way I will be able to finish this... However as I put the last bite in my mouth I happily stood very much corrected. For dessert I ordered the brownie à la mode and it was all I hoped it would be. The ice cream was delicious and the medley of hot cold ice cream and brownie were perfect end to a perfect meal. The owner came over to make sure everything was OK and since I had a big hunk of meat in my mouth all I could do is motion with thumbs up. I will summarize by saying Joseph's Italian steakhouse does not disappoint... You must give it a try if you're in the market for a good steak, Or prime rib. By the way my accompaniment had the shrimp scampi and was raving about it as well and there's no doubt in my mind I'm sure it was just as good as my prime rib. Four of us went here last night for our daughters birthday expecting what their website describes as a "Manhattan Style Steakhouse". I'm sure that's what they'd LIKE to be but it didn't even come close. We were warmly greeted and things started well enough with drinks and appetizers. Each time our server came to the table she'd mention she'd be coming back with bread which never came until we asked about it later on - a minor issue compared to what was to come. That said, if it never came we wouldn't have missed anything. Three of us ordered steaks with the other ordering the sliced steak with mushroom gravy entree. That entree was supposed to come with a vegetable. We had to remind the server about it. When the steaks came they were announced as to how they were cooked. I had ordered mine medium. They said it was medium rare and told me to try it and if it was too rare they'd put it back on the fire (just like a real Manhattan Style Steakhouse ) I had already decided I wasn't going to send mine back only to have to eat while everyone else was finished. It was rare, and tough because of it. Good thing I made that decision as no one ever came back to ask how it was. The steak ordered medium was well done and tough and the one ordered rare was cooked to medium. (These we're different cuts so we couldn't even switch plates.) One steak was to have Bearnaise sauce, another Bordelaise. Neither did. These sauces were brought out in tiny cups, again, after we brought it to their attention. The Bordelaise had more in common with with a Knorr powdered gravy mix than what it should have been. At one point we were asked how we were for drinks and a member of our party ordered a beer. It simply never came. On to dessert. "Ask your server for seasonal fruit topping" was the tagline to the cheesecake. They had no fruit topping to offer. I doubt it would have helped the freezer burned taste of what was brought. The Apple Crisp a la mode and the Chocolate Brownie a la mode came with no ice cream. Each item was pushed to one side of its plate to make room for it yet no one deemed it necessary to actually put it there. So again we had to remind them how they were supposed to serve their offerings. At this point we were asked about drinks again. The person who never got their beer asked for water.
