I came here earlier this morning and had an excellent experience. There were three gentleman cutting including Jose. I loved the decor and feel of this barbershop including their tunes.Conversations flow naturally which is always a plus. The guy who cut my hair did a great job taking his time. My bald fade came out perfect as well as some trimmings on the top. My haircut was $30 which was well worth it. I didn't have cash on me so Jose took Venmo which is a huge plus since most people don't carry cash anymore. There is limited seating (3 chairs) so try to come early. Just wanted to report that Jose's Barber Shop is open for business after CoCo County allowed hair salons and barbershops to reopen on 6/17. Don't know who cut my hair (there were 2 barbers on duty) but he "fit me in" and gave me a nice haircut roday in just a few mins. Have been cutting my own hair for the past 3 months and it needed a professional cleanup. Neither of the barbers were wearing masks which bothered me a bit but I really needed a haircut and kept my mask on and my mouth shut about it while getting the haircut. I was also wearing latex gloves, so I wasn't worried about contracting the virus but the opinions of others may differ. Only giving Jose's a 3 star rating because it was my 1st time there and because of the mask thing. No complaints about the haircut but I normally go to the barber shop around the corner on Chestnut and I won't be going back to Jose's when my regular shop opens again. read more

Great first time experience here! We walked in at about 10am on a Wednesday and both barbers promptly greeted us as they worked on customers. Very short wait and both my son and husband received top-notch haircuts. Ryan and Jose are so friendly and skilled. They curse like sailors! Well.. I had a apt today 12/7/21 at 2:00pm and 2:30pm for my son and I with Jose. We got there at 1:50pm I was told by Ryan that Jose is running late and we will be in soon. After 20 minutes I asked Ryan if he was free instead to cut my son hair. He agreed and he went on cut his hair. It was pretty bad. Spots every where. 30 minutes passed and Jose was still not in. Came here after a horrible experience with the barber shop that was nearby. They did a great job and allowed me to vent about the horrible experience I just had. Highly recommended. Let me start by saying that I gave this place 1 star because there were no option to leave zero or negative zero stars!!! My son went to get a simple haircut this morning at Jose's Barber Shop and walked out with a chopped out cut! . I feel horrible for suggesting this place to him . He was greeted by the guy who cut his hair who did not even introduce himself. He had a bad attitude from the get go . My son Marcos specifically told him that he wanted to keep his curls and not to cut too much of his hair at the top and so forth . He was very specific in communicating what he wanted done . He has a very important interview this week ! Instead the person who cut his hair chopped off his hair , gave him a very bad version of a military cut - disregarding everything Marcos has asked for . DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!!! As I said before this haircut was important because my son has a very important interview this week . What a nightmare !!!!! This is far from professional . I've been going here for about a year now and every time its been a great experience. I use the main man Jose for my hair cut and he is always welcoming. This is a straight to the point baber shop that offers services that you would expect from a barber shop such as hair cuts and straight shaves. These are what I have gotten in the past. The hair cuts are quick but precise with accuracy. He cut it to my exact specs and will offer suggestions if needed. The atmosphere here is like family. They remember you by name and will ask about your day or talk about current events. I enjoy coming here every 2-3 weeks and the small talk is always welcomed. I called the day before and made a 4 o'clock appointment. Showed up at 3:50 because the place can get busy. He finishes up with the kid he is working with and proceeds to take his brother. After that takes another guy sitting there. At this point it 4:30 and I'm starting to get a little irritated. At about 4:35 this guys buddy walks in, sits down and starts to chat. He finishes up with the guy he's working on and has his buddy sit down in the chair (who mind you just walked in) and tells me my son will be next. Are you F*€£big kidding me. I have gone into this shop with my sons twice. First time around both barbers were friendly. They have walk-in service an for three hair cuts we waited about 1.5 hours prior either one of us receiving a cut. The overall cuts were good, but the stated ETA upon arrival was not accurate. Second time in we made an appointment, but barber failed to write in his book. Stated he didn't have the time booked for use and he had the time booked for another individual. Questioned if we even called into the shop, reviewed my phone log, showed them the time stamped and showed them the information. Not much was said after showing the information other then, we could wait and they could try to fit in the cut or book for another day. If you have extra time on your hands or no appointments/plans other then getting a hair cut, you can get a a pretty nice cut here. read more

Wow. I got an awesome haircut, on a Sunday, as a walk in customer. José is a professional and took my hair, which at that point was bordering on full blown birds nest, and made it neat and respectable. This is probably one of the best haircuts I've gotten, and it was very reasonably priced. Bonus: he takes appointments. Pros: I have been to many of Barber Shops in my life given that I have lived in various places. I have to say that Jose's Barbershop in terms of Atmosphere and actual Hair Cuts is one of the bests. I actually get my haircut from Junior and I have a weekly appointment with him .... Bald Taper with #1 all around ... Very simple and neat! However both Jose and Junior provide great haircuts. When you step into this Barbershop you definitely feel welcomed and while your waiting or while your getting a haircut conversations are genuine! What else can you ask for from a local Barbershop. It's been a while since I've been able to find someone who consistently gives a great haircut. I finally found someone in San Jose about 6 months before moving to Discovery Bay and was worried I would be suffering through multiple awful haircuts before finding someone up here. Not the case... Nailed it the first time. I never have to look in the mirror before getting out of the seat at Jose's because the cut is perfect every time. I always have Jose cut my hair, but I've seen Junior's cuts and they're spot on as well. You can't really go wrong when you go to Jose's, no matter who cuts your hair. The straight razor shave is a nice bonus as well. Not all places do that these days. Just make an appointment and you'll never have to wait long. They also usually have ESPN and some good music playing in here as well, but they're always good for a few laughs and good conversation. I'm new to the area so my main barber is kind of far. I come here when I can't go to my regular barber. When I first moved to the area I was looking for someone to line me up or trim when I can't go to the shop I usually go. But lately this has been my bar now. The guys are cool. They will actually converse with you. Sometimes I go to barber shops and they just ask you how you are doing, but these guys actually talk to you about different things. Also there's different music playing, it's not on a basic loop pandora station where you hear the same music every time. Plenty of parking on the streets, there's some shops close by and places to eat as well. The guys do good work as well. The only problem I've had once is that I was late by 2 minutes to my appointment once and guy was gone. Maybe something urgent came up though but other than that it's a great place to go. read more

We made an appointment at Jose's yesterday for 1:30 today. We showed up at 1:10 and checked in with the Barber by the door. He said, we are running a little behind. So we sat outside, watched 2 people walk in after us, and get served almost instantly. After waiting for over an hour, I finally asked if making an appointment meant anything, or if they just pick and choose who they want to help first? He said oh, I didn't know you guys were waiting, really? We ended up leaving. I'm sure they do a great job with haircuts, but customer service and respect for clients time is awful! read more

This place is okay. The wait can be unbearable on weekends but the cut itself is fairly fast. The prices are okay, but by no means the best. The barbers here can get distracted by some people walking past the window. Especially if these people happen to be attractive. I've gone here a few times, and although they try to give you a great cut, whenever I've gotten home I've noticed a spot here and there that got missed or is too long which disappoints as they are a bit pricier than surrounding hair cutteries. It's got a great feel, the whole throw back barber shop thing, great chairs and service, and it's got a more "young" vibe to it. Jose is great. It's just I've gotten better cuts at Delta and at Amber's. One thing to note: they do do straight blade shaves which is awesome. read more

Completely unprofessional and shady. Called to make an appointment on Wednesday - he had me and my friend booked for today at 2pm. I called to ask if he took cash and his phone service was disconnected. Went to the shop and it was dark and the door was locked. Didn't even have the courtesy to call and let us know he wasn't working anymore - and my friend had left work early to make it to the appointment on time. Jose couldn't even be bothered to leave a sign on the door saying he was closed until further notice. Shady that he's accepting appointments before the stay-at-home order is lifted and even worse that he just doesn't show up or call. Hope this place goes out of business. read more
