It was a bit of a bummer that they didn't come with jalapeños, and unfortunately the chips were pretty stale, so there wasn't much crunch. My daughter treated me to Jose's last night. I was working late and she came by to do a load of laundry while I was still at work. She bought me Carnitas Nachos with some chips and salsa per my request. I got home an hour after she dropped them off and they were still warm since they were stored in an aluminum tray with a lid. They were absolutely delicious. There was plenty of carnitas loaded with cheese, beans, sour cream, cilantro and tomatoes. I cannot tell you if it had guacamole on it since I dug into them so fast. The chips were crispy. The salsa was spicy just like I like it. I apologize. I don't have a better picture to post. I was completely famished, although she didn't like what she said she ordered herself, I loved mine and I was very grateful. She had ordered Baja fish tacos so she said. She said they were awful. I feel like seafood should be ordered fresh by the sea but that's just my opinion and everyone has their own. I've eaten off and on at Jose's since I was a child. I think this spot might be better suited for happy hour than for breakfast. I brought my father here around 10am, and the lighting was very dim--something that works well for dinner, but not so much for breakfast. The restaurant itself is nice and definitely has potential. However, the menu posted on the board feels a bit overwhelming, with so much going on that it's hard to know where to start. When you walk in, there are refrigerators with drinks on the side, but you can also order fountain drinks--something that can be a little confusing for first-time visitors. Ordering is done at the counter, and the servers bring your food to the table. There's also a chips and salad bar alongside the fountain drinks. I tried the lemonade, but it was far too sweet. We ordered tacos gobernador, which were just okay. For breakfast, I had two pancakes with eggs, bacon, and potatoes. Note to self: don't order pancakes at a Mexican restaurant--the pancakes were dry, not fluffy, and lacked flavor. The bacon was burnt, though the eggs were good. Overall, breakfast wasn't impressive, but I plan to return and try this place during happy hour before making a final judgment. read more

For Starter's I Love this Place, I have been going here off and on for many Years. I kind of took a Back Seat to Jose's During Covid. A lot of Public Safety Changes which kind of took away the Whole Experience. Still Supported them but not as much. I always have a Great Experience when I am there. Staff is always Kind and Attentive. Love the Fact that one of the Staff Members has worked there for 28 years, coming up on 29. That Say's a lot about Jose's of Riverside right there. The Place has always been Clean and well Maintained. I have never had a Bad Meal there. Great Portion Size. Presentation of Food has always been Top Notch. I find in most cases that if an Employee has been there for many many Years, it's usually a great Positive projection of their Business. If an Employee has been there that many years, they must really like Who they are working for, which again says a lot. I have Noticed the Employees at Jose's of Riverside for many years now and they all seem to have a Great fun Loving Attitude for what they do and for each other. Bar none, Jose's has been our favorite local Mexican food place nearby and mostly far too. My hubby & I started coming her over 25 years ago for breakfast (love the chorizo & eggs) & I still have several full club cards from back in the day, and now all of my kids, grandkids and family come regularly..including celebrating Birthdays. IDK what changed, but at first I thought it was because I had just been on a ship for over a week and the food there was marvelous. After my first taco I asked my daughter "does yours taste dry and funny?" and she said "yeah, its not the same." I said "Well I thought it was me from the ship being used to such high quality food, but, this is not close to what we're used to!" she said "No I can't finish it" I said "No I can't either" I'm sure we'll try it again, thinking maybe the normal cook is out sick or something, but if I get 2 out of 3 bad tastes for the same thing..I look elsewhere. My job ordered four six foot burritos for a Retirement party today and the order was not ready at the requested time. Granted we ordered it Monday, June 16th and confirmed the time. Showed up today and nothing was done, or should i say started. Explain to me how you forget to make a large order. The service was amazing! Everyone was so curious and considerate of our needs. Beatrice was very attentive to our large party. The set up is you place your order, then you get a number and they bring your food to you. While you wait they have a FREE full salsa bar with at least 5 different ones. This is not a fast food restaurant. Upon walking your you will see big screens with the menu. A lot of photos are shown, which is always good. They have big refrigerators with beers and Mexican drinks. You will order your food at the counter and take a number. They have fountain drinks and agua frescas. What is awesome is that they have a salsa bar with a couple of different options and chips to grab. Everything is refillable. The food is good. I wouldn't say authentic but more of a chain food taste. No complaints, the food is good as to why I keep coming back. But nothing has yet to wow me. The restaurant itself is very clean. I really want to like this place, the service is quick and courteous the inside was clean and plenty of tables with TVs were you could watch the game and the chips and salsa were all you can eat. Everything you want from a Mexican restaurant, shoot even the Margarita was great and huge! But the carne asada just didn't do it for me, not much flavor, had to throw some lemon and salsa on it for it to be decent. We got carne asada fries with shrimp added and a carne asada burrito with shrimp added. The shrimp was decent. A must try! Let me start off with the service. Service is excellent. Everyone is friendly always asking if you are good or need anything. The food gets to you in record time and is always piping hot!!!! They have all you can eat salsas and chips. I love the chunky roasted green salsa. The frijoles de la olla are just as good as mommas. Understand that even though I have an estimated 200 customers around the country, I have only taken the time to write reviews for a select few on Yelp...few move me to praise. In my line of work as a food photographer it is natural that I would have a hands on experience & that I try most, if not all, menu items. I can honestly say that each of Jose's locations has the highest level of cleanliness. In fact, my family eats here & we are not from the Riverside area. Food wise, you start with the unlimited chips & salsa bar. They offer a variety of delicious salas! The tacos are the best & you have many meat options. The fajitas are topped with a generous dollop of their chipotle flavored cream. They grill their carne asada over an open flame & to give it a personal flare, they brush the meat with some type of tomato-based salsa that elevates the flavor. The pinto beans are simply perfection. I've also come to know their staff & everyone is welcoming. While speaking to shift management, I've come to learn that some of the employees, actually a lot of their employees, have been with Jose's for decades! What an absolutely delightful find!! Stumbled upon Jose's after exiting the 60 freeway. First I saw one fast food restaurant...and then another. And then, there was Jose's!!! Very unassuming spot with a posted $6.99 breakfast special that was calling my name. As I entered this cute spot, I was extended a warm greeting by the two young ladies behind the counter. I noticed a generous salsa bar and their rather extensive menu. I placed my "breakfast special" order and requested that my eggs be scrambled "very" well. I was then handed a bag and invited to help myself to the salsa bar. Boy, DID I!!! I first tasted a salsa verde that knocked my socks off! As I went down the line, I was tempted to just park there and stuff myself. By the time they called me to grab my order, I'd gone through each salsa and packaged a generous amount for my takeout order. By the way, even the patrons were friendly. I very much got a family vibe while I was there. About the food!!! First thing I noticed was that my eggs were scrambled VERY well. I mean EXACTLY the way I love them. First time I have requested this from any establishment that nailed it! [[HAPPY DANCE]]!! The pancakes were thick yet light and tasty and the bacon was doing everything that bacon is supposed to do. Placed an online order paid $72 called because for some reason my Moreno Valley order ended up in Jurapa Valley spoke to Mike and asked if my order can be moved to moval he told me no I simply said ok thank you and ended the call got in my car to drive to Jurapa Valley only to receive an email that my order was canceled I never asked for my order to be canceled never once said that and I call back to Jose's for Mike to tell me he assumed I wanted to cancel my order because I said thank you and ended the call, Im sorry but where in that sentence did I authorize for my order to be canceled and now I have to wait 2-3 business days for a refund of $72 and that was the money I had to feed my household for the night.
