I just had to come back and try more!! Hubby and I came for dinner one day and breakfast another day. For dinner I tried the Two Taco combo plate with a chicken and carnita taco. Both of them are good and their spicy salsa is delicious! My hubby got the Asada Torta which is really big. He inhaled it and said it was so tasty! When we came back for breakfast I got the Chilaquiles with scrambled eggs. It was so great to finally have some really good Chilaquiles. Oh, and I'm obsessed with their beans! My hubby got the Pozole, which I tasted and we both agreed the flavor was on point and the pork was tasty with very little fat. It didn't need anything except more hominy. We walked in and they have good Mexican music playing. The waiter sat us right away and took our drink order. I wasn't expecting much I suppose I went in pre-judging this place but as it turned out, the food was delicious. Every plate was of great proportion, chips were freshly made, all dishes came out hot. This place is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Caldo that has beautifully clear both that's and icy in flavor, meat with no fat (including the tacos and good customer service. Been here a few times with Dad and the sisters. It's usually pretty busy on Sunday, and today, Father's Day was no exception. :) We were lucky enough to be seated right away. Today, most of us ordered fajitas, which are really tasty. I ordered mine medium rare, which took a little longer to get to me. Portion wise, it's definitely a winner. They were cooked medium, which was fine. Plenty of veggies come with it, as well as your choice of 3 flower or corn tortillas. I chose flower. The meal comes out super hot, so be careful. Menudo hasn't been the same lately. We order to go every Sunday. Today meat was hard and hominy was clumped together like they added it right from the can this morning. Our waitress was very unprofessional and possibly racist.. My husband (black man) and I walked in, I spoke directly to one of the waitresses and asked her do we sit anywhere? She said yes.. about 15 minutes later she approaches our table and says Oh, I'm sorry I didn't see you come in.. but yet she told us to sit anywhere.. My husband ordered a Corona and she brings him a Coke.. This is a second time we visit this establishment. The first time she was very neglective. I had to get up twice to get my drink and condiments and although her customer service was pretty much non-existence, My husband still left her a nice tip even though I felt she did not deserve any at all.. This is a great little hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant in Riverside that I highly recommend for some great menudo and lengua tacos. Their salsa is phenomenal as well! We came on a Sunday afternoon with a group of twelve. The employees were so kind and pushed three tables together so we could all sit together. Our server was patient and took all of our orders. We had seven separate checks. We personally ordered wet burrito with asada and the supreme nachos with el pastor. The best chips and salsa were served before we ordered. The chips were homemade and the salsa had a great balance of onion garlic tomato and a slight spiciness. I would classify it as a mild salsa but with fantastic flavor. The burrito was huge and stuffed with rice, beans, and asada. It was topped with sour creams and a wonderful guacamole. The red sauce was flavorful and paired well with the burrito. The nacho plate was great too. The same homemade chips, loaded with beans, meat and melted cheese, topped with a generous helping of sour cream and that yummy guacamole. Some of the other dishes for our group were the hamburger, pancakes and eggs, shrimp cocktail, taco salad, etc... All food items were freshly prepared and were enjoyed by all. After hearing about this restaurant's amazing-ness and after attending a Tough Mudder event in the area, we decided to head on over to this fine establishment. When we arrived, restaurant was busy with customers and we decided to seat ourselves at a large, corner table that would accommodate our party of 6. Now lets talk about the food! If you're a pescaterian, as myself, the filet hal mojo de ajo (garlic sauteed fish) is a MUST, as it was crisp and quite tasty (I love garlic). I'm salivating right now, just thinking about it! Meal comes with a side of beans and rice which is reasonably priced for such large portions. I also tried the tostada de ceviche, which was light, fresh and had good shrimp to vegetable ratio (uh, yes... what do you expect, as I do pay attention to those kinda things, as I am an EX-Yelp Elite yunno, lol). The generals: restaurant is generally clean, received a "A" score from the public health department (which should be a mental note to one's self when eating out and about), TV to sit and watch a game, menu variety (one could get a burger, fries and breakfast items here too), ample free parking lot.
