This place seemed pretty good at first. they called back and was really polite went over pricing and set up an appointment to come to the house and take a look. i get a call the next day with the person to come over just to talk about what i had going on... very helpful! then i started to get txts pushing back the appointment and rescheduling which isn't a problem. after we rescheduled 3 times then the person never showed up or called and is no longer returning txts. unbelievable...... read more

This company has young people going door-to-door, soliciting business from homeowners in my subdivision. Most of us either work during the day or are day sleepers and don't appreciate being awakened to listen to a sales pitch. A better approach might be to leave flyers on doors or do mass mailings to homeowners. I couldn't take their disorganization any more. My biggest complaint is they are so large, the customer service feels impersonal. When you call customer service, you might get someone in Dallas, and the next time you call, you'll speak to someone in Nebraska. I have consistently asked for communication when our home is being serviced. We contracted mosquito service and we contracted pest maintenance. We have two dogs and three kids, all who are frequently in our backyard. I want to ensure their safety above all. I got a text message indicating that were going to treat our yard for mosquitos on March 18. I replied to the text saying this is a joke right? We don't have mosquitos in March in the Kansas City area. Someone replied that it must have been a mistake and that mosquito service begins in April. So why did my ring camera pick up someone from Joshua's spraying the concrete sidewalk leading up to my front door. Yes, my sidewalk. What in the actual #!@%. Their service guys are always nice. I don't have a complaint about them, but how they manage their company, how impersonal the entire experience is, and how disorganized they are is ultimately why I cancelled my service with them. My only other complaint about them is this concept of tipping the person applying the chemicals. I am honestly sick to death of going to places like fast food restaurants, where you order at the counter and have no other interaction with their employees, and you expect me to tip? I am already paying for my services with you, and then you want me to tip for a service I am already paying for? Here's a concept: pay your employees more. read more

Have been using Joshua's for about 2 years and we are thrilled! It isn't often we've had to call in between services, but with the rain we had quite a problem with ants on the bridge over our pond. They did a great job! While all our neighbors are complaining about ants in the kitchen, we're all clear ; ) Yesterday though was the best of all! Our tech sent a detailed, informative message about the efficacy of treating yards in the rain. I had no idea! Made the mistake of signing a one year agreement at a weak moment with very nice door to door salesman. First treatment seemed good and thorough but I'm not even 100% sure they did additional quarterly treatments as supposedly came at odd hours and only treated outdoors. Didn't notice any difference in the indoor insect problem we had previously. As such, I verbally cancelled with the office at the end of our one year. However, about a month later they stated they had no record of the cancellation and charged my credit card for additional treatment that we didn't want nor receive, even after discussing with "management". In conclusion, the service is suspect and they will attempt to renege on their cancellation policy. read more

We have been customers of Joshua's Pest Control for the last few years. They recently sent a technician out to do an annual termite inspection and things got very fishy quickly. Before the appt, the tech called me making sure I'd be home. When I explained I wasn't but my husband was, he became adamant that I be there and/or that he could call me if he found anything. I told him he could speak with my husband who had the same decision making abilities for the home as I do. Fast forward to me getting a call from my husband; this technician is claiming we have termites, shows him "termite damage", says he's caught it "just in time" and that we need to sign up RIGHT NOW for an $1800 treatment plan to begin in 2 days. Very high pressure and fear-based sales tactics. We declined and sent him away. I got a second opinion today from a company recommended by our realtor; told them nothing about our experience at Joshua's. After a thorough inspection, they declared that we had zero termite issues and, in fact, they could see when our last treatment was (just before we purchased our home) and we weren't even due for another couple of years. After his clean report, I showed him the supposed "termite damage" which was nothing more than a flaw in the wood beam. All this to say: use Joshua's Pest Control at your own risk. I am appalled that as a long-term customer they were so quick to attempt fraud like this. What a total scam! read more

This is an update to the original review, and not for the best. We recently found out we were overpaying for our services by $10-$40/quarter. Another company came by and showed us the invoices other people were paying in my neighborhood. Maybe I should have negotiated better. If you go with the service, keep in mind you should only be paying $89-$109/ quarter and not a penny more. Next part is a little dark, but I'll keep it as objective as possible. They told us that the chemicals they use are animal and human safe. Within one month, our 5 year old cat, Kirby, died from kidney failure. This was a healthy cat. I know correlation isn't causation which is why I didn't pursue reaching out to Joshua, because it would be difficult to prove. The veterinarian did state that the only way this could have happened is if he got into something toxic. Kirby was an indoor cat, and the only toxins would have been the sprays. If anyone else has pets that have gotten ill after treatments with Joshua, please let me know. read more

shanty sales practices! within 30 days of signing up (July 26 2022) they hit me for $239 in charges... when i called to inquire why they charged me again they gave me to a supervisor who said this is the way this works... now according to the sales roach jonothon, there was the initial $100 sign up fee and in 30 days after initial application there would be a follow up application and then quarterly treatments... you can stop at any time... fast forward to August 26 2022 i get hit with $139 fee... i tell then cancelled service and BAM!!! Another $218 cancel fee... when i was told i can cancel anytime... so in 31 days of signing up they got me for $457 dollars... Absolute scam... should be damn criminal with their sales and business practices!!! read more

This company sends their employees every single week to our neighborhood. Each employee knocks on our doors regardless- even with a "no soliciting" sign. They have ignored when the woman of the house says no to their pest services, and have gone so far as to request the "man of the house". I am sick and tired of people taking advantage of others! In July 2022, I come home to find my neighbor (I live in a duplex) is a nervous wreck because of the information she received from this worker at Joshua's Pest Control. You see, they were in our neighborhood because our other neighbor had an infestation of roaches and other pests. They (JPC worker) proceeded to show me a photo of a pet kennel/cage that had a banana covered in roaches that was supposedly in our neighbors house. The rep explained that because this was an extreme situation, he was going to give their neighbors a discount. We would pay $99 for initial service then $129 for a year. I asked for clarification immediately because the offer seemed too good to be true and he repeated the offer. I even asked, "How much exactly am I paying total?" He replied $99 then $129. So I agreed. He mentioned that the paperwork is for normal or regular service BUT that he is going to explain the circumstance to the office which will be the offer of $99 then $129. After the first payment of $99, a technician did come out as planned. When the $129 was due, I was unable to pay right away. Even though, there was a scheduled visit, no one came out; and I figured it was because I hadn't paid yet. Long story shorter, when I was finally able to pay in full, a technician came out. It was almost immediately after that, that I received another bill for $129. What??? I explained to customer service and some manager with an Indiana area code (yet based out of KS???) my situation; but they say unapologetically that "that's not what the contract says" NOW they are telling me the agreement was $129 PER service with a 5 service minimum for the year. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! I am a single mother of two. There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY I would have ever agreed to FIVE PAYMENT agreement of $129. I'm absolutely disgusted. I feel like I was taken advantage of and swindled. So disappointed. If this company comes to your door, TURN OFF LIGHTS AND DON'T ANSWER!!!!! read more

I have been using Joshua's for a few months and the pest control services have been fine but I'm going to cancel after almost getting scammed on the "free termite inspection." I was told I have MAJOR damage (he checked the basement for a total of 3 minutes) and needed to sign up for treatment which would cost $2,700 but since I have been a "loyal customer" he dropped it to $2,200. When I still wouldn't sign up for the service, he told me that he could call his manager to see if they could go down to $1,800. He explained that there is such a severe termite problem that I needed to sign up that day and if I didn't, I wouldn't get that discount that he was able to offer me. I kept telling him that I was skeptical of the situation - given the fact that he barely spent anytime looking for termites and that he was able to lower the price so much and finally had to ask him to leave. He wouldn't leave - he just kept asking me if I knew how severe this was & telling me I needed to treat it immediately because the termites were in the house and causing more damage by the minute. After a certain point, I had enough of his condescending tone & politely kicked him out. A few days after this inspection, I had another company come out and it turns out that I do not even have active termites!! There was damage from termites but it had already been fixed by the previous owners and the house had been treated. I am not sure what the rep from Joshua's saw but there are definitely no active termites in or around the house and I am very glad I didn't sign that contract! I've used this company for a couple of years for pest control. For the most part, they were fine until I had their free termite inspection. The inspector went into my basement and, under thirty seconds, declared I had termites. Not only that, but it was one of the worst he'd ever seen. He pointed to two boards downstairs on which I could see no evidence of anything. He then pressured me to sign a contract for termite control for $2,500. When I would not, he lowered the price to $1,900 and then $1,700. I was adamant I would not sign until I had others look at it. Today I had Terminix and Rottler do inspections. Neither could believe I'd been told I had any termites, let alone, a worst case. One suggested I write a review, so I am doing just that. The other guessed that it was Joshua's who had told me this. I am now terminating my quarterly pest treatments with this company. If you think you have termites, stay away from Zach at Joshua's. read more

They are so incompetent. It took 4-5 visits for them to get my clover mite issue under control, even after telling them to not spot treat and spray the entire yard. After they finally did a complete job, it has been controlled. Now I am dealing with wasps. I called to have them come out for the 4th time and after saying that they need to bring a ladder and spray completely, I was told they do not have ladders. So, they are not able to take care of the nest in the upper eaves of my house. Also, outside of the clover mite issue, they have only sprayed inside my house one time (the first visit). I am not sure they even come out quarterly, but if they do they do not do any preventive work inside. Do not let them scheme you out of your money. read more

This company LIES and does not use good business ethics. In June of 2021, a field rep from Joshua's was checking in on the neighborhood because the of their clients from the neighborhood had not been serviced in 2021. I was told by the service rep that I had called in to reschedule my appointment. The problem is, I work from home and don't have a need to call to reschedule, I'm always home. I talked to my neighbors, they said they were told a similar story. I live in a neighborhood that most people are either retired or work from home. We would never call in to reschedule a pest control service. Lie number 2 came from a field service tech. He didn't do hardly any of his job. In his notes, (I only know what his notes said because the supervisor told me exactly what was in the notes) he said that spider webs were out of his reach. The webs were on the deck railing, maybe 4 feet from the deck floor. I was told by the field service supervisor who ended up coming out to my house that I was given correct information about what his service tech wrote in his notes and he would take care of the situation. Lie number 3 was me calling in and telling Joshua's that I didn't feel it was necessary for me to pay a bill when I didn't get service for 6+ months. They agreed to credit my bill for 4 billing periods. I told them that would be fine. Two months later, the bills start back up, 2 months ahead of when they should have. This company serviced our home for 5+ years. Two years ago they sold us on a $1800 termite bait system, even though we had never seen a termite or evidence. They convinced us it was good prevention! We had signs of mice, but they had never treated the property for mice. We called and they brought out mouse bait boxes but we continued to see mice outside. They asked to do an attic inspection and proceeded to try to sell us on $16,000 of replacing our existing blown in insulation and replacing new "Foam" attic insulation that was "better" and would prevent mice. Claimed mouse urine would cause mold! I decided to cancel their service at which time they informed me they would come remove the $1,800 termite bait boxes. When I asked what the $1800 paid for, they wanted to send me their "written agreement". Don't do business with this company, they will try to sell you what you don't need and take advantage of you if they can! Extremally disappointed in how they handled this.
