A friend and I met up for an early Friday dinner and were stunned at how delicious jot India was. We had read and heard good things, but actually being there to taste it is different. I had a massive plate of lamb, perfectly spiced with flavor and an appropriate amount of heat, and the appetizer sample my friend ordered had tons of good food, though a lot of it fried which was a surprise. It's because of this interaction I want to amend my rating from 2 stars to 4. We hope to make our way back to Jot someday soon despite the below experience! We've ordered take out from this Jot a handful of times and have always been happy with the food and service we've received. Last night, we dined in for the first time and I don't know that we'll be back. I ordered the mushroom matar and my partner ordered the paneer makhani, we each ordered a side of naan. We were given one serving of rice to share which was not enough and seemed odd because when we've ordered the exact same via take out, we each get a serving of rice. We would've asked our server for more...if we had ever seen them again. Our server was perfectly fine when she took our order but we did not see her again until she gave us the bill. I don't need servers to hover over our table to feel taken care of but not being checked on once after our meal came out is ridiculous. The restaurant was occupied for a Saturday evening but not overwhelming, especially with the number of other servers covering the floor. Our drinks weren't refilled once during our meal because no one gave us an opportunity to ask. I would classify the service we received as mediocre at best. The cherry on top of this unfortunate experience is that for the first time ever, our food did not sit well with us afterwards. Within 2 hours of leaving the restaurant, I had to rush to a bathroom and fight for my life. My partner was not far behind me. I lay awake at 4am writing this review because I'm still needing the bathroom. This has never happened when we've eaten Jot via take out. read more

Jot is our go-to Indian food restaurant in the Cincinnati area. Whether dining in or grabbing it to go, the quality of the food is fantastic every single time. The owner and his staff are always so nice and service is prompt and courteous. The dining area is spacious and very clean. As for the food, my personal favorite is the saag paneer and my wife likes the special chicken tikka masala. We always get an order of garlic naan and onion naan. Jot's naan is the star of the show. Always flavorful while having the perfect amount of fluff and crunch. Cannot recommend this place enough, they always knock it out of the park. read more

This restaurant was recommended by someone I met at a grocery store so we gave it a go. The staff is friendly, will chat with you and make you feel welcome and comfortable. The food is good too. I expect the food to be of this quality from most Indian restaurants. We were told their garlic naan was an award winner, so we tried it out and it was as good as any other garlic naan you get at an Indian restaurant. I usually order saag paneer at any Indian restaurant during my first visit to be able to compare with my previous experiences. It was good. Not great, but good. The restaurant interiors are like how most Indian restaurants are in America - a few tables and chairs to sit and eat. Don't look for a 'Dining Experience' while eating here. Everything about this business exudes excellence. When I walked in, the first thing I noticed was how spotless the restaurant is. Immediately, I was greeted with a friendly smile and invited to sit down. Without hesitation, I ordered my go-to lunch dish Chicken Tikka Masala with a side of Bhatura. The dish was delivered with such confidence and delight that I was already convinced it would be the best Tikka Masala I would ever have without even taking a bite. It was as if they knew what was about to happen in my mind, body, and soul. The rice was fresh and steaming, creating a blank canvas for the side of vibrant burnt-orange masala sauce. The Chicken Tikka Masala was rich and buttery. While some Indian restaurants cut costs during the pandemic and watered down their sauces, Jot India seems to have done the opposite. The bold flavors painted my soul with the same feeling you get from a mindful inhale and exhale. This dish forced me to be fully present with every bite. At this point during my lunch I was already drafting my 5 star review. Then one of the owners, who is also the chef's son, payed me a visit. After chatting about my first time experience, he smiled and said "I'll be right back. I have something I think you'll enjoy." He returned with a curated dish of bone-in chicken curry. He continued to explain that he was sharing the cooks and crew "family meal." This was the food they cooked for each other that isn't even on the menu! Unlike the classic Tikka Masala, this dish hits different. It appeared to be more broth based vs butter. It was light and coated with a thousand spices. First things first, this was my very first time having Indian food so take that into consideration with my review. I visited Jot with others and we shared an appetizer sampler. Most of these were delicious with only one item just being a little bland. I got the Chicken Masala as did the person who invited me and my wife. I personally didn't enjoy the flavor at all. It tasted like a stick of raw butter with a little seasoning sprinkled on top. The rice was a bit dry and didn't offer much flavor. However, the other person loved it and said it's the reason they visit this place at least once a week. My wife got the Chicken Kebab and neither of us cared for that either. The chicken was very chewy with an off putting texture. The meals were nearly $20 each which seems astronomical for the portions. The service started off strong but tapered off as we were finishing off our meals. The frequent water refills stopped and the wait for the check was shockingly long. I couldn't imagine visiting this place on a regular basis even if the food had been delicious. read more

Jot is the new local NKY indian GO-TO located conveniently in the heart of Newport Ky (close enough for those of you in cincy) If you're thinking about coming here, don't second guess it. The food is very flavorful and delicious (coming from someone who grew up eating authentic Indian). While the prices are ~okay it's well worth it. The Veg Samosa is a must for us it's so crispy and amazing with the variety of sauces it's always guaranteed to make you wanting for more. We also got Daal soup (a creamy lintels soup that I tend to pair with the Naan) it could have been spicer but it hit the spot just right. and then the main course was the Saag paneer a creamy spinach and cheese dish that is just knock your socks off my absolute favorite indian dish there is. if you are two people an appetizer and a main usually fills us up with the rice n naan included. overall 5/5 highly recommended. read more

JOT is the spot! I love Indian food and JOT always gets it right. Very authentic flavor and feel right in the heart of Newport. We started with the Vegetable samosa and this is our top appetizer. It comes out with a chutney trio, and it's just perfectly fried and flavored. The sauces add such good flavor too. Personally my favorite is the dark one it's super sweet. Also be careful the red one is spicy so make sure you can handle the heat. We got dal soup (creamy lentil soup) as it is one of my go to's at Indian. While this one was different than I've had before, it was delicious. Then of course for the entree we got Saag Paneer. Spice level 4/6 was perfect for us but we like spice. We ordered their Beef Samosa Chaat appetizer and Palak Paneer entrée - both were delicious and so filling. We visited India two years ago and can confirm that Jhot's dishes are pretty authentic. Highly recommend the Samosa Chaat - fresh vibrant flavors with hot savory crispy samosas with a side of yogurt, yum! Make sure you ask for their chutneys.
