Was craving some indian this afternoon and thought i'd drop in to try this place out. Very small, designed mainly for takeout but wasn't cramped whatsoever. Ordered my food and got it piping hot in about 10 minutes, and holy cannoli. Definitely the best Indian restaurant I have had here in Cincinnati, though by opinion is limited since I always only get the same things. I ordered online while on campus, walked 12 minutes and waited maybe two minutes before it was ready for me. I hesitated when writing this review mainly because of the date and time that we ordered, but I felt like I needed to put it out there nonetheless. After seeing many good reviews about Krishna I was really excited to try it and add it to my list of good local Indian restaurants in the Cincy area. However, after a really disappointing meal I will likely be crossing it off my list of places that I frequent. I wanted this review to be taken with a grain of salt as I alluded to in the first paragraph. My girlfriend and I ordered our meal later in the evening on January 1st, 2023 and I know it sucks working on a holiday but if you're going to be open you should still be putting effort into the food. I got a vegetable samosa appetizer that I felt was very good comparative to others I have had and the tamarind sauce was also excellent. My girlfriend ordered chx curry (not pictured) and I ordered chx tikka masala (pictured). Our dishes were both VERY watered down. We had trouble telling the two dishes apart and by the pink coloring on some of the pulled chx in my tikka masala I assume they also added food coloring. Lack of flavor was an issue with both and we really did not enjoy the fact of how liquidy the sauce was - it was clear that water was added as a filler. We also ordered two sides of garlic naan that were extremely underwhelming. I don't consider us food snobs to begin with and we typically finish all of our bread, but the naan lacked flavor and was not nearly as appetizing as I hoped for. After re-warming it the next day it seems like it was quite possibly just a plain naan. I had high hopes for Krishna and it was mentioned by a friend who is a local that said they heard good things as well, but at the end of the day our overall first experience was rather disappointing. BEST INDIAN FOOD EVER!!!! My wife went to school at UC and made me try this while visiting her 5+ years ago. I was skeptical, but it has become an absolute must get while in Cincy. Every time we visit, we come home with some chicken tikka masala and naan for the week. To be honest, we have not tried anything else, but do not need to. This meal would be on my "last meals". If you call ahead, they will have the food ready and waiting when you arrive. It is truly a hole in the wall restaurant, but that only adds to the authenticity. I asked my lab group where their favorite places to eat near campus and they all said here and Adeep so I decided I had to try it. $20 may seem like a lot for an entree and naan, but they literally give you so much food. I heard there are a few vegan dishes here and learned that they are the chana masala, aloo ghobi, and a vegetable dish. Was hoping for more options beyond just the standards, but what can you do. Having tried more than 50 Indian restaurants in the country, I would have to say this hole-in-the-wall join makes THE BEST 'Chicken Tikka Saag' in all of the USA. Its not an easy entrée to make with spinach being the base. Typically, in most places it has a veggie undertone to the base, but they put enough cream and cook it well to the point its decadent. As I travel 15+ years back in time, I recall how Chicken Tikka Saag and Garlic Naan helped me go through the rigors of grad school as I was slogging in my office. Very friendly staff. My coworkers and I have been coming here for lunch every Tuesday, and the gentlemen of Krishna already know our exact orders and quickly prepare our food to perfection. I usually get the Chicken Tikka Masala Spicy 6 with Garlic Naan and each time it hits the spot, especially on a cold rainy day. What I love most about Krishna is the flavor of the sauce, and the quantity of food you get in each meal. The sauce is more cream based than tomato. In addition, when it comes to eating my naan, I am a dunker and love how much sauce is included to do just that. For only $10 during lunch, you get a huge portion of food that leaves you in a trance similar to post-Thanksgiving dinner, but leaves you with just enough consciousness to already think about next week's fix. read more

There are several Indian restaurants around campus and all are great but this place won me over because of what I witnessed when I first started coming. For example, a student forgot his wallet when he picked up his order but the owner (?) told him to not worry because he can pay the next time he comes. Krishna! This place rocks, especially with their stellar lunch deals. You can dine in, but expect seating to fill up quickly. There are only a few spaces to sit anyway. Food arrives quickly and steaming hot! It's always too much for me to eat in one sitting, so I consider buying Krishna a 2-meal investment. I love the curry here and generally order that with naan. My #1 pick whenever I eat Indian food is saag paneer. It's pretty good at Krishna -- everyone has their own taste preferences, but I actually enjoy the saag paneer down the street more than here (cough*Deep India* cough). I swear, my office mates and I get Krishna's carry out weekly. I love it because I can eat half of it today and half tomorrow, for about $10-12 bucks. I'd like to preface this review by throwing it out there that Indian food is my favorite. Krishna is the first place I ever experienced this delicious food because my Indian professor suggested it and told me it was his favorite place in Cincinnati to eat. Upon walking up to the establishment I am always blown away by the amazing smell. The first time I went there my stomach was growling and I was sure I'd stumbled upon something great. The inside looks a bit divey, but that doesn't scare me off. I actually kind of enjoy the eclectic wall art ranging from Hindu deities to children's finger paintings to Heimlich maneuver posters; it makes me feel like they're focusing on what's really important, which of course is the food. After ordering at the cash register you can jump into a booth or stand and wait. There are only four booths and if someone is finished eating one of the men behind the counter will shoo them off so you can eat there. That might sound rude, but I've never seen anyone get upset- I think you have to understand that those few booths are there for you and other customers to eat and there are plenty of places in Clifton to sit and chat elsewhere. Once your food is ready one of the men will call out your order so keep your ears open and don't get too engrossed in conversation. Pro tip: listen to the guys sing while they cook, it's beautiful! The food here comes in styrofoam containers, but is amazing! I have gone to SO many Indian places, but nothing beats their curry. My favorite dish is Vegetable Korma. It contains peas, green beans, potatoes, corn, and paneer all soaked in a delicious, full flavored curry sauce and served with a hearty helping of white rice. If you go for lunch they will include naan, which I suggest ordering (if you're not there for lunch) because it is so, so doughy and delicious. I believe the spice level runs between 1-6. My professor would order a 6 (yikes!) I used to order a 3, but now order a 1 just because you can taste so much more without the added heat. I would certainly suggest going here as it is my favorite spot to enjoy my favorite food. Just don't go in expecting any added embellishments; just wonderful food. read more

I appreciated that the food was piping hot, but the chicken was dry and rubbery and the flavor was not to my liking ( I felt too much cilantro was added). The quality of the roti was also lacking and the consistency of the lassi was off. The lassi mixture was not homogenous and it seemed that they mostly used the whey of the yogurt. It was extremely sour, diluted and chunky. I couldn't take more than two sips and would not purchase this again. read more

My journey to find the best Indian food in Clifton continued yesterday at Krishna's. I was around the Calhoun/McMillan area and decided to stop in to Krishna's - something I'd meant to do so many times in the past 10 months of living in Clifton! The place is small, but that doesn't matter when it smells so fantastic in there and the man behind the counter greets you with a smile. I grabbed a menu, chose a dish (Chana Masala), happily paid, and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. In just shy of 10 minutes, my food was ready and I was on my way to enjoy it at home. Comparing it to what I'd considered to be my favorite Indian restaurant in Clifton (Ambar), I was pleased in some ways but not pleased in other ways. First, the rice. I love me some great basmati rice, but this is where Krishna falls incredibly short. The texture is fine, but what I love about Ambar and other Indian restaurants I've been to (not only in Clifton, but elsewhere) is that they have some peas and bits of lemon zest throughout. At Ambar I can just eat the rice and be happy girl because it is so flavorful and delicious! Krishna's rice was just plain and didn't have much flavor at all. Boooring! Next, the portions. I think the price at Krishna's is less than that of Ambar or Amol, and if so, the portions are just fine. After what I ate last night, I have about 2 meals worth left. Not bad for $8! I do miss, though, the HUGE amount of delicious rice I get from Ambar... Now, the star dish. My chana masala was pretty darn good. I got it at a spiciness of 5 (out of 6) and it was at the perfect level for me. It came in a 1/2 quart plastic tub and, as I mentioned already, it was enough for 3 portions. Yum. Finally, the people of Krishna's. The guy working the counter was great. He greeted me when I arrived and when I asked if there was any cream in the chana masala, he confidently told me, "There is no cream, butter, or dairy in chana masala". A+, dude, A+. I now know I can suggest Krisha's to my vegetarian AND vegan friends! If I'm on Calhoun and crave Indian, I need not hold my hunger until I can walk to Ambar - I'll eat at Krishna's.
