Unfortunately, I never received an acknowledgment of my email or any response. Lunch left a lot to be desired service wise. I have not been back since based on the experience I had there and, also based on their lack of response. It speaks for itself. Here is my email - Hi Leani - It's John O'Rourke again. Thank you for arranging and changing our lunch reservations for this past Monday. It's was a lovely location and a beautiful restaurant to return to. I have lived here for over twenty-five years now. My guests were so impressed by the respectful, well chosen, and stunning renovation. But, please allow me to mention some problems, as well as the previous compliments, that happened during our lunch. I believe feedback is important and can be productive. So for that purpose I send you these observations. - After we were seated and given menus - we waited at least 5 minutes before a waiter came to the table. - We were a party of four and, when two servers (not our waiter) put down our main courses - only two people in our party were served. We waited - thinking the other two orders would come out soon but, they didn't! Finally, we waved to our waiter who was not aware of the problem and, the entrees came out shortly after. - It's worth noting that none of the entrees served were presented in the 6 o'clock position where the plate is strategically placed in front of the diner. - Also, the wait staff never refilled our water glasses or asked if we would like another drink. Frankly, this is not the level of service I expected. And, if you would please pass my comments on to the proper person in the restaurant- I would appreciate that. I love East Hampton and, I am enthusiastic about the newly renovated Hedges. I wish you all well. Respectfully, John O'Rourke

I stayed at the Hedges Inn during the early spring for a bachelorette. We loved the accommodating staff members whom checked in with us frequently. The Inn is a brisk walk away from the relaxing beach. Staff provide you with passes. We had access to bikes for an enjoyable ride along the cobblestone and windmills. The room service was excellent and my bed was extra comfortable. My friends and I loved that breakfast was offered as a part of our stay. We couldn't locate many East Hampton locations which included this. The breakfast here was self-serve and delicious! Hands down I will visit The Hedges Inn next time I'm in the area. Thank you for making my stay super relaxing and memorable!

To explain that we would need to move rooms…read moreafter our first night into a different room for our remaining two nights, he showed us the entire booking screen with all the guests' private contact information. 2. The rooms have iPod docks with 30-pin connectors. I mean at this point just remove them if you aren't going to replace them guys - they haven't worked with any iPhone since 2012. 3. A woman who fell squarely into the "surprised and afraid to find herself in charge of a hotel" category was incredibly rude to my wife when we were working from the room (as we had been told we could) the day we needed to inexplicably vacate it for a different room. "My husband is showering, we need 15 minutes." "You can't have 15 minutes." Like, what are you going to do? Forcibly remove us from the room? You guys were the ones who told us we could use the room. 4. I should also note that the rooms were LITERALLY RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO EACH OTHER and to my eye completely identical. (The one we moved to had a small balcony but otherwise I didn't detect any material difference.) It doesn't seem like an insurmountable puzzle to solve that you could have just put the other people into the vacant room. 5. They decided for some reason to empty the hotel's septic tank during our friends' wedding photos. 6. It's one of those places where a hopeless fussy person has laminated lots of signs with rules and instructions. Do NOT remove the laminated guide to the room from the room itself. Do NOT use any towel other than the blue ones for removing makeup. Do NOT flush anything other than toilet paper because the house has EXTREMELY sensitive plumbing. It all seems like someone very, very angry runs the place. (Is there a significant problem with guests removing the laminated guide from the room?) One star for a good location and another star for a pretty good breakfast (you are entitled to ONE cooked item, per the rules).

We stayed two nights in a dog friendly room, which was spacious and clean - no previous smell of a dog at all! They had a dog bed and treats with bowls waiting for her. It was so cute! We visited the restaurant and our food was great. Service was quick and helpful with the menu as well. They had the fire place on which was so nice. We went to the bar/lounge afterwards and had a few drinks by that fireplace. So nice and relaxing. Staff was always welcoming and all drinks and food were good. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. That's all you can ask for! My only complaint was when we were checking out I wanted to make sure our bill was correct and wanted to speak with someone. With Sunday brunch going on upstairs there was no one at the front desk for almost 15 minutes. During the time I was waiting two other people came behind me to wait as well. The front desk person who came back was quick and friendly to get us checked out but for the price I would think someone would be there at all times? We can't wait to come back to Barons Cove soon!!

Room to Improve: 1) Inflexible 4:00PM check-in. They emailed to ask when we'd arrive beforehand; I said 2:00 and would appreciate an early check-in, they said to wait and will text me when room was ready. Actually we had to wait outside in the heat or in the crowded lounge until 4:30PM, no early check-ins for anyone (there were other guests waiting with us). We would have walked into town for lunch had we known this. 2) Free coffee but no included food for breakfast, which is only served in their upstairs restaurant at extra charge. At BC's price point they could have offered a few complementary pastries, as is done at many cheaper venues. 3) The a/c in our room was old, noisy, had no remote and didn't work well. Musty smell in room. 4) Lunch served outside only in all kinds of weather, insufficient umbrellas to provide shade on hot day. (Pls see separate review for their restaurant). All in all our stay at Barons Cove was pretty good, but felt their oldish amenities didn't warrant high room rates plus puzzling "resort fees."
