Amazing stay over the weekend at this little piece of heaven on the east end. We booked Unit 2 through the Beach Plum Resort site rather than Air BnB and it was easy peasy. Our unit was spacious with a small eat in kitchen. The two bedrooms were very spacious with one of them having a fold out futon. I slept on the futon which wasn't uncomfortable at all. The unit itself could comfortably sleep probably 8 but we were four women and since it was spacious we just spread out. The location of the resort itself is perfect. Across the street and a short stroll down a path to get to the beach. It's literally 5 min from the main part of town. You also have access to the pool which is a nice size and doesn't get too crowded. I loved this place so much, I'm already scouting dates to take my husband back out east. I would totally stay here again. It really is great for family but also bachelorette parties! read more

We just completed a three night stay here for our anniversary. We made our reservation through Airbnb. The automation/text alerts were so helpful. The room was spotless. Spotless. Our view was incredible. The balcony furniture was surprisingly comfortable for a summer rental. The mattress and pillows slightly firm but in a good way. The beach access so convenient. It was nice having the tv with the movable bracket. Kitchenette well stocked. All the staff very friendly. The best money we ever spent for a stay in Mtk. Can't wait to visit again next year. RENTER BEWARE! We rented unit 16 at The Plum through Airbnb. I went out for a weekend with my mom to celebrate my Dads memorial. Upon leaving the unit - which we were told to leave the key inside and the unit unlocked, 5 hours later I received an email accusation from the Plum that we damaged the dresser in the unit. The damage to the dresser was underneath a thick table runner that I would have never thought to lift up and inspect on arrival day. This entire process is insane. Now I'm being told whether or not they have my approval I will be charged $150 for something I didn't do!!! It's been weeks of back and forth, I don't understand how this is even a business model!! read more

Beach Plum "Resort" may be one of the worst hotels I've every stayed at. The rooms are subpar and the staff (specifically Barbara at the front desk) is rude and unprofessional. She practically harassed my friends and I, making false accusations that we were being too noisy when in actuality it was several other rooms up all night being rowdy. However, due to these other people actually owning the hotel rooms they were staying in, she put all of the blame on our group and was not even reasonable enough to have a civil conversation with us. Great place to stay in Montauk if going to the beach is your priority. This is right across the street from the beach, and the beach is not filled with many other people. The view of the water from the motel room is great. The living space is clean and comfortable, with good wifi, a kitchen area, and a great pull-out couch. There is a front patio with a table and lounge chairs to relax on. In the rear, there is a grassy picnic area with barbecue grills. There is also a pool, which I did not use or look at, as the beach is right across the street. The staff was kind and accommodating. Beach plum is a great hotel to stay at! Let's get the bad out of the way. There are only two reasons I gave this place 4 stars and not 5. The first being that the service is a little slow. I asked for a few extra garbage bags and extra shampoo. The bags showed up much later than the request and the shampoo never showed up. The other reason is that my front door was one of those glass sliding balcony or deck doors. There was no real heavy black out curtain covering it (only a fairly sheer one) which did make us a feel a little exposed. The gate to the desk wasn't lockable which meant really anyone could have walked up and peered into our living space. Now for all the great things about this place. Our room was newly renovated and had everything we could have needed. Tons of plates, mugs, glasses, and utensils for entertaining. Pots, pans, and everything you could need for cooking. We cooked breakfast every morning and it was honestly and great money saver. The space was huge for the price we paid. The bed was very comfy and very clean. The bathroom was extremely clean as well which can be hard to find at some of the cheaper Montauk hotels. Another thing thats hard to find out there is good TV signal and channels which this hotel had. Our front yard area had a small grill, some chairs and a lot of grass space which I could imagine would be great if you came with kids. The pool was really nice and pretty quiet most of the time. There were a lot of chairs and lounging area. The beach is less than a 5 minute walk away. Across the highway and down a little sandy path. The beach there is much quieter and less crowded than the main ones in town. The location is great if you dont want to be right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of town but you also dont want to feel soooo far away. Its a 5 minute drive and probably a 20 minute walk. Overall I would definitely stay here again and was surprised and pleased with how great everything was here. read more

I came after Labor Day and stayed on the first floor. It was very clean and so cute and cozy. I loved the big sliding door outside- every room has one with a table and two lounge chairs. Also the pool is heated! You can see the ocean from all rooms. The beds were totally fine. Not 5 star luxury, but I had no issue with them and was comfy. Every day they sent a text and you said what you wanted more of and they left it contactless outside your door. Came with two beach towels. About a 10-13 min walk to the main downtown area, but it's a nice walk and all sidewalk. I would recommend this place for a more affordable stay in Montauk. Also there's a path straight to the beach right across the street from the hotel. All of the staff were very friendly and let you arrive early and leave your bags to walk around and explore before the room was ready. read more

The Beach Plum is definitely for the Beach Bums. The Montauk trip has become a tradition with us, and after trying a few places, I think we finally found the one that will stick. The room was studio apartment style w/ a kitchenette, which is key, so you can bring food to cook and drinks to save a little cash for the few day stay. The decor went with the obvious beach motif, but it was new and clean, and pretty well done, not tacky at all. Actually most of the place seemed new if not extremely clean, which is not what I can say of some other places Montauk has to offer. Price was extremely reasonable for the "in season" rates. Pool access, or a short walk across the beach, and less than a mile to Main St its location is near perfect. My only complaint is the bed. It was so stiff it was like a bouncy table. I spent a weekend at The Beach Plum and had such an amazing time! I loved our studio unit. It had such a nice vibe with its gorgeous wood wall and photos of Montauk. Tastefully decorated. See photos. The bed was comfy, good WiFi access, good water pressure and temperature in the shower and above all, very clean (all important stuff to me). The best part about the Beach Plum is its location! You can see the ocean from the room and there's very easy access to the beach (just walk across the road and there's a path that leads to the ocean). The patio has two lounge chairs (with cushions in the closet) and two driftwood towel racks (so pretty and nice detail). Also, this room had two beach chairs. So, no need to bring from home. In addition to its proximity to the beach, you can walk right to town. Get the jelly croissants at the Montauk Bake Shoppe. Sooo delicious...kind of like a cronut. I would definitely come back to this resort again and request unit #19. It had everything I needed. So glad a friend recommended The Beach Plum. read more

We just came back from a wonderful week in Montauk. We stayed in Room 19, one of the newly renovated lower level rooms. Here's why I loved this place: --It was spotlessly clean --Our room had a private patio facing the ocean --It is across the street from a nearly empty beach!-only fellow hotel guests use it, unlike the crowded beaches closer to town. Old Montauk Highway separates the resort from the ocean, and there is a bit of a winding path to get onto the beach- just a minute's walk though. --Beautiful heated pool --Outdoor shower with soap and shampoo (hence, no tracking sand into the room) --Unlimited beach towels --Room has fully functional kitchen: mini fridge, oven, microwave, silverware and plates and cups, even a little bottle of dish soap and a new sponge- perfect touches! --There was a collection of about 10 books in our room (our own mini-library) --There is a nice little cafe at the sister resort, Breakers, right next door --Easy walk to town (passing the lovely Kirk Park/Second House/Indian Museum along the way)-- my husband and I did not bring a car, but this place was close enough to walk to the IGA and 7-11 for essentials, and into the center of town for shopping and dinner --The awesome free shuttle Hampton Hopper stops a few feet away, and brought us to Gosman's and Star Island --Oh, 2 folding beach chairs were provided-srsly, you don't have to bring anything! read more

My friends and I have stayed here multiple times and we absolutely love it! It's the only place we want to stay when we visit Montauk. Our suite was adorable, impeccably clean, and had a nicely updated kitchen/bathroom. The team's customer service is top notch - super helpful and accommodating - Barbara in particular is an absolutely gem! The property is well located - walkable to town, and a quick 5 minute Uber to many restaurants around the Bay and nearby. Super solid 4 stars, especially in the off season (as I'd imagine is the case with any coastally located lodgings on the Eastern seabord). Celebration of the off season is why I'm writing this now, because people looking for spots by the sea in the dead of winter might be at a loss for what's even available to them during these months. Even a terrible fight with your boyfriend mainly carried out in silence and bitter emotional detachment by suffocation cannot completely ruin one's appreciation for a beach facing unit here, complete with a slightly lumpen but cleanly linened queen bed and gigantic wooden deck outfitted with enough reclining beach chairs for a little party. Upon entering, one encounters a full kitchen with knives, silverware, a microwave, and a coffee machine in case you want to or need to feed a whole family. Full sized fridge and freezer, too. The renovated, marble tiled bathroom with state-of-the-art shower head and deeper-than-usual bathroom is a welcome surprise in contrast to the rest of the place, which is well lit by several different lamp options by night and natural sunlight during the daytime. The wall mounted flat screen TV broadcasting cable also provides an upgrade to the generally shabby chic (but again, CLEAN) feel of this place. The pool is a trip into a Hockney painting if you can get into it before it gets really cold and they shut it down. On Columbus Day Weekend, it was unheated, but still bearable, and I was alone it it with only the sounds of my own splashing and the waves across the sea to break a dreamlike kind of silence. Only issue is that there is no room service and though each unit comes with a guide of nearby businesses, you will be out of luck if you haven't scored your food by like 8 p.m....of course this isn't the establishment's fault, but the ignorance of two people who forgot they weren't in Manhattan anymore. As fir service in general, the folks in the office are very helpful and kind at check-in, then hands off during your stay. They are not there in the wee hours. Be warned in case you're a high maintenance type of guest. The beach is accessible by crossing the road and venturing through a sea path that winds through the dunes and tall mangroves. Like much of Montauk (and any other exposed shore), the water looks rough and wild. The sand, though, is spotless. Looking out at the slate colored deep, one really feels one has gotten way, both in terms of time and place. I know I couldn't bear to be anywhere in Montauk once the crowds come. This is the way to do it; find a snug little home full of fall or winter light, facing the horizon. read more

I think Tiffany M. may have had an isolated incident because her post made me really reluctant staying here but the hotel ended up being a really great value and the weekend was fun! They offer a 2 night minimum instead of a 3 night minimum and their prices were more reasonable. They offer a late-night check-in which is really awesome because I came in around 10pm (after the office was closed). The hotel is situated about 10 minute walk from the ocean. Insanely close! The pool... err well if the ocean is right there I'm not concerned about a pool. ALL of our outlets and outdoor lighting worked. The walls were not that thin. I heard kids stomping but never heard conversations... its like an apartment, nothing crazy. Most hotel products are not top-notch to begin with so unless Vidal Sasoon struck a deal with the motel its not going to be the best lol. I did not venture in the Wi-Fi because I left that stuff in New York City. My phone had service. The AC worked a bit too well but there were comforter. There was a kitchen with all the basics needed for cooking... and the maid cleaned all the dishes!! This hotel was well kept and cleaned. I talked to reception and he was saying how people would know something's wrong with a room but wait until they check out to complain. SO STUPID! If something was wrong with my room I'd be first on line to have them honor our reservations. This place is located around a 15 minute walk from the main stretch in Montauk. This place was awesome and everything was priced properly; best value thus far. I am doing this again and I suggest this place to others. read more

There are tons of beautiful resorts and hotels in Montauk. Do not waste your time or money at this one. I literally can't say enough negative things. The hotel manager Barbara harassed my friends and I who stayed here this past weekend. She forced us to return early from our vineyard tour and said "I will not speak to you over the phone, if you don't return now all of your stuff will be removed from the room and you will be kicked out with no refund" and hung up on us. She then told us we were "grounded" and not allowed to make noise past 9pm, even though quiet hours are after 10. It was a bachelorette party that got absolutely ruined by a monstrosity of a manager. Yet the room full of men next door who were playing beer pong and blasting music were allowed to make as much noise as they wanted. Borderline sexist but I digress. Furthermore the hotel wasn't like ridiculously nice that it was worth the price and experience. I cannot stress this enough, STAY ELSEWHERE. read more

This is the absolute worst place. Very overpriced and the pictures that were advertised are nothing like the actual studio. Extremely small television. I've called the front desk several times over the course of the day just to get a broom and they assured me that they would bring one up and of course never did. We lost power in the evening for about 30 minutes. The same night I called the front desk numerous times, and also called the emergency number that's implemented after hours numerous times and nobody picked up the phone at all. so, we booked this based on all the good reviews. I guess it greatly depends on the unit you get as they are all individually owned and furnished. We had unit #28. Iit had a bed and one nightstand and one floor lamp. There was no headboard, no dust ruffle and no table lamps. So the person on the other bed side had to leave the bathroom light on to read in bed. we had to bring in the outside deck table in order to leave a book and glass of water by the other side of the bed. The bathroom sink water took literally 5 full minutes to heat up to anything close to hot. There was an outside light on the front porch and the back deck. They turned on automatically and stayed on ALL night. There was no way to turn them off, So unless all the shades were completely drawn, this shone like the sun in your eyes all night. The room was clean and it was a corner unit which was nice (to the left of the unit was what looked like a junkyard which was visible from the deck) , but for $100 the owner can get a headboard, dust ruffle, table lamp and cheap end table and make the room much more comfortable. Believe me ....this place isn't cheap in high season and I felt we overpaid. I guess the moral here is don't book unit #28, unless these things don't matter to you. read more

We spent 2 nights at the Beach Plum Resort recently. We stood in room 16. We are a family of 3, and we don't take many vacations due to our work schedules, so it is something we look forward to. First I will start with the negatives; - The room is very tight, even for two people. The owner of this room has a lot of knick-knacks all over the room like little statues and toy sailboats. I'm sure they were trying to give it a vacation feel, but it feels more like an antique museum. Very cluttered. - The mattress was extremely uncomfortable and hurt both me and girlfriends backs. We don't have the best mattress at our home, so we look forward to staying at hotels because they usually have a better mattress then we do. Not this one, the mattress was like sleeping on a piece of thin foam laid across coils. Painful. - Thin walls, expect to hear your neighbors. Luckily ours weren't rowdy, but the few time they did make some noise, we heard it. - No iron or ironing board - I thought this would be standard, nope. - Security - they do not have a deadbolt, or a security latch, just a very simple push button knob that anyone can easily finagle their way through. Now the positives - Very nice front end staff, they even left the keys in the mailbox for us. - Very clean - room smelled sanitized and the housekeepers did an awesome job despite the cluttered environment. - Awesome view - you can literally see the entire ocean from your balcony. - Great pool - very clean, and the staff was very friendly - Great location - you couldn't be closer to town where all the shops and stores and the beach is across the street. Final thoughts - I personally would not go back to this resort/motel. Even though the staff was friendly, service was good, and the views and location were great. At $350 a night in August, not only is it overpriced, but we left with our backs and necks hurting from the bed, and the tiny cluttered room was probably worth about $175-$200 tops. We understand that this is a tourist location, and they can demand those prices because of the demand for rooms, but we'll pass. When we return to Montauk I would like to explore other hotels that have better reviews on yelp. read more

I wanted to book a last minute trip to Montauk for Memorial day weekend... Beach Plum Resort was the only place with an availability, so I booked it eventhough I knew they jacked the price up for the holiday weekend. Their website was decent and they were really friendly over the phone so my fiance and I were super excited to get away from our busy lives and chill for a good 24 hours. Check in was at 3pm, which is a little later than most places, but whatever.... we had the whole beach to hang out on while we killed time. Once we finally got in our room we noticed a few things right off the bat. First, there was a HUGE splatter of god knows what on the wall. I kept telling myself it was beer but since it was right above the headboard, it was hard to believe. Second, like NONE of the outlets worked! I needed to recharge my phone not only was the socket so shitty that it wouldn't hold an iphone plug, once I finally shuffled things around to a plug that would actually hold it, the freaking socket was dead! When I am at the beach, it is mandatory that I bring a hair straightener. After waiting on the beach for a couple of hours to check in, my hair was a mess! I plug in my straightener and walk away for a few minutes, come back and my iron is cold. Ok... so I used the second socket... still nothing!! The balcony light did not work either which was annoying. What if I wanted to read on the balcony at night or play cards or something?! Check that shit before you charge 200$ for a normally 68$ room!!!! The walls and floors were paper thing so we heard EVERYTHING...which was gross and uncomfortable. Bring ear plugs! Also be prepared to bring your own shampoo, conditioner, lotion, hair dryer and TOILET PAPER if you don't want rash from what they tp provide. My final complaint is about the pool. Not only is it like an oversize bath tub but it opens at 9am and closes at 6pm! No pool needs to open up at 9am... I did not enjoy listening to screaming kids before breakfast. It also would have been nice to use the pool at night... not at midnight or anything, but at like 9 or 10:00pm. I lied, one more thing.... they brag about free wi-fi and not once did my phone or computer connect to the damn thing. Good thing I did not NEED to do any work while stay at this craptastic place. I would not recommend staying here.. there are a ton of better places that don't have spunk splattered on the wall or shitty outlets. Be smart and book in advance! read more

I'm writing this review based on room 24, since I believe all units here are individually owned. I was able to see room 17 which was updated and didn't seem to have a mold problem. DON'T stay in room 24. We stayed here 4 nights and the room smelled STRONGLY of mold. I got so sick because of it. After leaving, I had to wash everything (even the stuff I packed but never ended up wearing) because it all reeked of mold. I have to see a doc tomorrow because of it. The screen door to our balcony would barely open..then wouldn't shut. Outdoor lights on all night and blinds/ shades couldn't block out the sun so it made it hard to sleep. Some of the electrical outlets didn't work at all. You plug something in and it falls right out of outlet. The couch pull-out bed was super uncomfortable and really messed with my sciatica and scoliosis. I was here for my brother's wedding so being sick from the mold with a sore back was an awful way to experience my his wedding! Before checking in, I requested a room with a bathtub since I needed to take daily baths because of medical issues. The bathtub with so dirty and cracked (mostly mold under crack too). Looked like someone tried to cheaply fix the the crack with some glue, but it looked so dirty and was 100% ineffective. After 19 hours of travel, I had to go out and find some goo-gone and Clorox with bleach to clean the bathtub mess before taking a bath. The guy at the front desk barely said to a word to us when we checked in. He was pretty unaccommodating especially since he knew we were there for my brother's wedding. The walls are paper thin which doesn't help. I feel like I'm only cracking the surface of the problems we encountered while staying there. Truly disappointed and wish we stayed else where. However, I do have 3 compliments about this place. 1) To the worker at the hotel who went out of his way to help my mom and I art our luggage up the stairs. I wish I could remember you name so I could send you a tip. 2) To the sweet house keeps who cleaned our room. You are saints and deserve to be making more than the bullshit hotel management. Beach plum: make sure you're only rented rooms that have renovations. Renovate rooms that need to be renovated or don't have people renting out rooms that make them sick. Don't book rooms that reek of mold, and hire accommodating, caring nice concierges who ask if you have any questions, tell you how to get to your room, and offer help getting there if you need it. Last but not least we were told this hotel was wheelchair accessible. IT IS NOT!! Mother of the bride was staying here and 2 weeks before had broken her leg. We were told her room is wheelchair accessible and it wasn't. She had to go up 3-6 stairs on rocky pavement..literally very small rocks) with uneven wooden steps to get around the back and up to her room. It was so difficult! She fell and hurt her hip once on her journey in. Next time, Beach Plum, tell your future client the truth about your non-handicapped accessibility next time! Absolutely terrible. read more

The rooms are so clean and each decorated differently according to the owner of the unit. Updated furnishings and appliances. The staff is also very nice, I've never had a problem. We stayed this past weekend from Thurs-Sun. We rented the two corner units that slept 6 people a piece. Before arriving, I inquired about the parking situation as the rules are one car per unit; however with a group of 12 we were going to have 3 cars. They were very accommodating and helpful with this. On Thursday, I received an email from Gary asking what time we would be checking in so that keys could be left if it was after the office closed. We arrived several hours earlier than check in and the rooms were already ready. We were given the keys immediately and able to move our stuff in. The property was relatively quiet. The staff was wonderful, providing extra keys when guests were locked out and being understanding about us leaving with one of the keys by mistake (which we did send back). The living room area was large enough for all 12 of us to hang out before going out and in the morning for breakfast. Overall a great property, approximately one mile from the mayhem of town. The beach was peaceful and a short walk across the street. I highly recommend this property. read more

Just ok. Not what we hoped for. Beds are AWFUL. Parking is impossible. The corner unit suppose to sleep 6?!? 2 small double beds - and an awful pull out couch. Would fit 3-4 people better! We are 5 and it's hard. The AC units are weird. Very noisy, either freezing or sweltering - they just don't work well. The pool is small, but very clean. Room also nice & clean and pretty decor ( unit 6) but these beds - SO bad. Beach beautiful - but it's a bit of a walk if you have a lot of stuff to bring ( too bad you don't provide chairs, umbrellas beach plum) . The room was perfect - beautifully decorated, immaculate, great view, well stocked kitchen, really comfy bed. Nice heated pool - all within walking distance to shops in town. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Do not stay here. I had booked my stay and encounter an issue. I had a conformation email saying everything was fine however the day before my stay the hotel called to tell me the card of choice was not accepted to provide a different one. When I asked the hotel representative "Katie" if nothing would get charged she responds by being rude and unprofessional on the phone saying "ARE YOU NOT LISTENING TO ME? GIVE ME ANOTHER CARD" I asked to speak to a manager and she would not let me speak to one. This call was done at 7:30pm, Sunday Aug 6,2017. This is just unacceptable. These people need to learn how to speak to their customers. I would had provided a different card but the way her attitude was i would not want to stay in a hotel where I am being spoken this way. I normally don't do this but i had to write a bad review. I booked the Beach Plum resort for last weekend. On our way into Montauk, my boyfriend and I recieved a call from Keith (think he might be a manager) saying that the $240 room that i booked wasnt available. Something about the owner of the condo was in town that weekend when he wasnt supposed to be. Not sure how they couldve gotten this mixed up when i only booked the condo 2 days before we went. Shouldnt he have known this by 2 days before? As a courtesy he told me he'd give me a room at the neighboring property for 20% less. I said okay. Then i paid $185 for "The Breakers" resort, after being told that it was the same caliber as the beach plum resort (which I'd viewed online). When we got to "the breakers", it was not the same caliber. It looked like the beach version of the motel 6. I wouldnt have stayed there for $50; let alone $185. Even though it was "renovated" , it was old and unappealing. The bed in the studio didnt even have a headboard on it. Just the frame. I told the front desk clerk that if she couldnt get me a room at the beach plum, then i wasnt staying (the beach plum is next door and actually looks descent). It took a hour for her to contact Keith, for her to call and offer me a room at "the driftwood " for $300. I said no way and and requested all my money back. So after $425, no room and i still had to book another hotel. Not sure about you guys but its really disappointing to have to spend $425 on a vacation weekend on a room that i didnt even occupy, even though ill be getting the money back, it was a real inconvenience. And btw ,its business day 3 and i still havent seen my refund. Never again! read more

We've been regulars at this modestly priced and low key resort for several years. The staff and the owners are really nice, and the resort overall is clean and well kept. Location is quiet, at least as quiet as any beach resort can be, and walking distance to several restaurants and breakfast places. Also really like having the kitchenette in the room so that we could save on some meals during our stay. We've stayed at a few different place in Montauk over the years, and this is our hands down favorite. read more
