Haven't been happier at a N.J. nail salon in a long time. 100% going to make this my new favorite place!! Service was exceptional, very very clean, atmosphere is calm and relaxing. I got a spa pedicure ($50) and an eyebrow wax ($8). The spa pedicure was amazing! From beginning to end about 45 mins, hot stones, hot towels, amazing massages! I went here a few times. The first two times for dip powder nails, they lasted. However, the last time my nails broke the next day, which it wasn't even 24 hours. The pedicure is great, but the manicures are rough and they always cut my cuticle or used the file to hard, which led to my nails burning. They charge for every little thing, if you call and ask for someone, if you go after a certain time or certain days, they charge. I never paid the same price as they charge for every little thing, which is ridiculous when my mails didn't even last a full day. read more

I have been coming here the last 2 months after switching from TWO different nail salons. I started getting dip powder in August from another place, they broke fairly fast. Went somewhere else, again broke within a week. I switched to Joy - and while I'll say I haven't had a problem when walking in for a quick appointment, the last two times, my nails have broken within 4 days of getting it done. It's extremely frustrating as it's not cheaper than acrylic/gel, and it doesn't even last a week. Also, my daughter got her nails painted the last time I went, she's 8 mind you, and they charged me $12 to get her nails painted!! she's 8 - they just quick cleaned them and painted, nothing special, no designs nothing!! ridiculous! most places charge $5 for a kid (some dont even charge!) read more

Overall, I had a bad experience at this establishment. My nail tech (Sara) rushed through the process. Before I could even sit down she was grabbing my hands to begin filing. She did not do what I asked for, even after showing her a picture. (What I asked for was very simple) The tech made a mistake on one of my nails and when I brought it to her attention she didn't fix it. I was told I would be charged $60 for my nails but when I went to pay she charged me $65. It was no big deal to me because it's only a $5 difference. Then after I generously tipped my nail tech despite not liking my nails I started walking out the door and the owner came chasing behind me telling me she charged me the wrong amount and I need to come back and pay another $5. When I asked her why all she said was "I accidentally charged you too little." At this post I was extremely frustrated. They already charged me an additional $5 and now were asking me to come back into the store and pay another $5. I ended up paying $85 for a standard color and shape POWDER manicure +tip. Save your money for an establishment that doesn't take advantage of their customers. read more

Not sure how this place has any negative reviews. I brought my sister here for a gel manicure and then decided I'd get a regular manicure as well given how inexpensive they are compared to basically all nail salons in the area. Both of our manicures turned out great and they give you a mini back massage while your nails dry which is always a plus. The owner was there that day and was very attentive and seemed to have the customer check-in process down to a science. She was super friendly and so were all of the other employees I dealt with. This place is top notch in terms of both quality and cost. Highly recommended!! read more

NEVER GOING TO JOY NAILS AGAIN BECAUSE OF THEIR GREEDINESS!!!! Gel manicure cost $28 at Joy nails, I asked girls for design , girl told me $10 extra for design, I agreed but it was almost 6pm they were running late so she put one line on one of my finer, girl said she will only charge me $3. I said okay I understand that they are closed now and it was 6:15 pm. I walked to owner. I gave her $50 cash bcoz she likes cash not credit card, she took extra $3 from me, when I asked, Jane owner told me that she is the owner and that girl can't decide the cost. So she is still going to charge me more, will not honor the cost which her girl told me. I told her that I'm her regular customer And she needs to honor the price which her girl gave me. I have been going their for last 12 years. I got little upset, girl who did my nails said don't worry I'll pay you money I said I don't want to take her money. She refused the tip but I still gave her, it's not her fault but owner lost me as a customer forever $3 SHE LOST ME AS A CUSTOMER. Charged me $45 for this nails. Don't waste your time OR $$$. I went in for a pedicure and a fill in. I was told to pick a color and have a seat in the pedicure chair. After my pedicure was finished I was informed that the woman who is capable of doing the fill ins was out sick. That's something that I should have been told when I first walked in the door and requested those services. How can you have 3 technicians working and NO ONE knows how to do fill ins? I was a long time customer of Honey Nails down the road until they changed owners and closed on Sundays... Joy was the closest open salon so I gave them a try and I'll never go anywhere else! The pedicures are great, but they pale in comparison to the Dip manicure! If you're lucky enough to get Sara, you're in for one of the most meticulous manicures you've ever had. She takes great pride in making sure everything is perfect and that you're happy with the end result. At $35, the price can't be beat! I've had the Dip 4 or 5 times now and it has never chipped! My nails are much stronger than when I was getting gels and the manicure lasts for weeks! I highly recommend Joy & the Dip manicure with Sara! read more

I will NEVER EVER EVER go back to this place. Had the most terrifying experience at this nail salon today. When I walked in, I informed them immediately that it was my lunch break and that I need to be out before 1pm, they said okay & that we would be done by that time. I arrived at 12, got started 5 minutes after. So the lady started doing her thing and as she was gluing the fake nails on, I just knew something was not right. It took her about 15 minutes to glue the fake nails on!!!! she would put the glue first on to the fake nail, then on my actual nail which was a disaster because the glue was sticking to my skin. Her process was unnecessary and took 3x the time it should have taken. Then, she was burning my skin with the tool she was using to make the nails smooth. I let her know she was burning me but nope, she kept going at it. finally, it was over and time to put the acrylic. It took every part of my being to not scream during this process. She put SO much acrylic powder with the liquid she used, however, it would completely dissolve when placed on my nail. Basically, it's only fake nails without acrylic on top. I can actually bend my so called acrylic nails right now. I swear she did not use the right liquid for the acrylic because there is literally nothing on my nails. She also tried to put the gel acrylic on my nails which costs $55. I told her I asked for the regular acrylic, to which she replied "WHY THIS ONE IS BETTER" and proceeded to put the gel acrylic on my nails. The owner had to come and stop her from doing it. I got out at 1:30 pm.. so basically 1.5 hours of her adding invisible acrylic because my nails are bending as I type. The owner asked me to come back on Monday to fix it, but I never want to step foot in there ever again. read more

I am in agreement with the previous posters about the owner's greediness. Her business practices, prior to the pandemic, included charging $5 more for services on Sunday because although the salon is open, they are not fully staffed. Charging more or less for a manicure depending on the lengths of your nails. I was a loyal customer for four years, driving 20 minutes from home, because the girl that did my nails was terrific. However, once the salon reopened during Covid, the owner again raised her prices. As most salons followed suit, I wanted to support the business. Within two months, I went to pay for my manicure and was told the next time she would be charging me more. When I mentioned that she had already raised her prices, she went down a list of excuses: the staff is tired, the girl works hard on my nails (which are natural and medium length at best), she can't pay her staff, etc etc. She then showed me the new price menu which did not have set price, but a range from $39 - $45 for a dip manicure. So she'll decide based on her mood/day/color/ what she will charge? I told her I didn't have come out of my way to support her business and during a pandemic when most businesses are struggling to stay afloat, it's not a good idea to drive away loyal customers. She continued to talk over me and even follow me out into the parking lot. Needless to say, I found another salon. It's a shame, because the girls are wonderful there and although I miss my manicurist, the owner should learn to appreciate those who support her business. read more

I have been going to this salon for 3 years, mostly out of convenience. The last 3 times I went I promised myself I would NOT go back. I'm truly done. I had my eyebrows waxed (after I told her I have very sensitive skin) burned me... for almost a week I walked around looking like a freak. My polish doesn't last more than 2 days without chipping. Tried out this spot one afternoon, bc I couldn't get to my regular salon in time. Very nice comfy, spacious salon (which is a plus!) I loved that they didn't use a drill to file my nails beds. (another PLUS!) I opted for the $30 Shellac, but noticed the tech used a Gelish base, then the Shellac color, and finished with a Gelish base. Which is a big NO NO. I didn't sweat it at the moment and figured I'd see how long it would last, bc it came out really pretty. Sad to say 2 weeks later the polish is lifting and cracking around the cuticles. I'm used to going a month with Shellac without any cracking. However, A lovely salon overall and the techs were pretty welcoming. They give a shoulder massage while you dry, which I wasn't prepared for lol (can be pleasant or awkward depending on your personality) Just make sure they aren't mixing the brands of gel polish and you are getting what you ask/pay for. read more

I had a coupon for T&V Nails across the street. Upon arriving, I found out they were closed for a few days due to a family member passing. I looked around and saw Joy Nail across the street and decided to go in. I got a gel manicure and my overall experience was good. There place wasn't the cleanest but not to a point of concern for hygienic reasons. It could use a dusting here or there, that's it. Otherwise, my nails were done perfectly and two weeks later, my nails are still in great shape. The gel manicure was $20 or $25, I can't remember which, but whatever the price was, it was a pretty standard price that I did not mind paying! I will definitely come here again. read more

Went here to get acrylics done for prom. They did a shit job. They came out lumpy and thick. The lady that did my nails left a big space between my nails and the acrylics; it resembled grown out acrylics. She also cut the skin under my nail. I also went in for a pedicure, which was nothing extra ordinary. Overall, not a good place. There are better places you can get your nails done for cheaper. read more

Very accommodating, they take walk ins which is a great benefit for busy women. The staff is always warm and pleasant. The room is spacious, bright and clean. They give a great pedicure for a very reasonable price. The women give a back massage while your nails are drying which is an extra special touch. A very relaxing experience with good results. I have been going to Joy Nails for ten years or more and have never ever had a negative experience. This is the thing that really pisses me off about Yelp. Scroll down and in a very light grey you will see other reviews currently NOT recommended by Yelp. You know why? Because the person that wrote the review doesn't use yelp all the time. I can tell you that I get regular mani pedis as well as shellac and sometimes uv gels and especially John is fantastic!!! They also always give my daughter free designs at no charge. Everyone is very sweet and accommodating and the owner does her best to reduce wait time. Take the complaints with a grain of salt. Being a business owner myself, I know that Yelp has a very flawed review filtering process. Give them a try and judge for yourself. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. It actually took me a few months to write the review because I was still reeling from the experience. I had one hour before work, and had a big meeting. I stopped in for a fresh gel manicure and informed them of my one hour time cap, and they said this would be fine. They got my gel off, all is well. Then the tech began applying the new gel. From the first two nails she was making a face like she knew something wasn't right. She proceeded to polish a whole hand. Then called over who I presume was in charge. She told her it just needed a second coat. The color was not adhering to the nail- it was gray and weird. But she polished on. She proceeded to do another first coat on the other hand , and now a second coat on the first hand. At this point I stopped her. The color was incorrect, and odd looking- opaque grey almost and still not adhering. She called the woman over again and said if I come back tomorrow they can fix it. Excuse me? They expected me to just walk around with these screwed up nails that now looked worse than when I came in. I told her I needed her to take the the gel off. She struggled to remove it. And then I had to ask her to please lotion my hands and put a clear coat on to at least make my hands appear presentable. At least they didn't want me to pay anything- and told me again I could come back tomorrow. No thank you, never again. And please do not invite me to do so in the comments. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! I tried this nail place because i am new to town and it's close and convenient. I have to say, i have never been so disappointed with a nail salon. I made an appointment the same day i wanted to come in and they were able to schedule me right away (half hr from when i called) which was great. I walked in and said that i had an appointment for a gel manicure and the woman looked confused. Another woman asked if she could help me so i repeated that i had an appointment for a gel manicure and she also looked confused. Finally another woman came from the back asking the same question - and she got the same answer. She was the one i spoke to and luckily she remembered. She told me to sit down at one of the chairs and another woman came and told me to sit in another chair to soak off the gel i had on. I sat down and the woman filed one nail... and then another woman came and took over... she got 3 foils on and switched me to yet another person. I had to change hands 3 times just to get my nail polish off. Once everything finally got started with one person she began cutting my cuticles as she was removing the gel polish on each nail ... which i wasn't a huge fan of since there was no oil and my skin was so dry from soaking in acetone. I picked my color which was an Essie gel and the woman told me that essie was no good so i should pick a different brand...not sure why their essie would be "no good" but i chose another brand instead. Once the manicure was finished i noticed that my nails were ridiculously weak - which comes with the territory of always getting a gel manicure... but once the polish is on it hardens them beyond natural nails and all is fine. Not this time. My nails are paper thin, bending when i go to put my card back in my wallet and ready to rip like napkins. I said something to the woman asking if these will harden after some time and she said no. I explained to her that this feels like a regular manicure and gel manicures always make mine (and everyone else's nails) more sturdy because the polish is thicker. She said she never heard of that... which means she either didn't want to admit fault or has no idea what she's talking about. Once i left i noticed that 2 of my nails were catching on EVERYTHING - and i realized it was because they had already chipped... not just the polish but my actual nail. Meanwhile i had been trying to grow my nails out and they're finally at the perfect length - or at least they were before i went to joy nails. now 2 of them are considerably shorter because i had to file them myself to get them even. one hour after leaving and 2 broken, paper-thin nails later and i am livid. Oh and also forgot to mention the best part, when i was asking why this gel was so thin i saw the container of base coat that is normally used for gel manicures and i realized that she had never used that on me. i asked about it and she said that is for a special manicure and costs $40 more ... its a gel manicure base coat... i asked for and paid for a gel manicure. what i got was just as good as a regular manicure that dried fast under lights. In addition - once I mentioned that I was not happy with my nails the woman completely disregarded me and walked away to help someone else. I'm sure that wouldn't have been the case if she hadn't already run my card. Extremely rude and very unprofessional. i will never return to this salon and i suggest you look elsewhere as well. read more

The nails on my hands were shaped beautifully. A lady that seemed like the owner was very nice and accommodated me by doing my eyebrows just as the salon was about to close. The girl that did my manicure was awful and when I asked them to fix what was done it came out even worse. I asked nicely for them to just remove the color and give me a refund. The owner or manager refused and said that they could give me a voucher to come back for another manicure. The problem with this nail salon is that they wouldn't comply to what the customer was saying. I walked in asking for a set of acrylics that were $35 and they kept convincing me and convincing me to get some other thing similar for $50 because they're better for your nails and would stay longer. Eventually I caved because she just made it seem like the only option. She offered to give me a baked nail polish similar to gel nails that would stay on for two weeks and even longer. I agreed. After my manicure, she did my eyebrows and they were done really well, so I felt confident in the nails as well. Three days after my manicure, I saw a chip on one of the nails, even though the polish was supposed to last two weeks! In the following four days, 4 of my nails broke off due to a very poor job and a chip happened on another finger. A week after getting my nails done, I had two fairly large chips and only 6 full nails. Seeing as though they were supposed to last AT LEAST 2 weeks, I felt very duped because I've gotten my nails done at other salons for cheaper, gotten exactly what I wanted and they last 3x longer. Wanted a full set of acrylics. First off, the owner (at least that's who I think it was) started me off and when she was gluing on the tips she was putting glue on them, then dipping them in acetone which makes no sense to me and not something I've ever seen done. I think to myself "hmm that's odd" but I brush it off. Then she kept trying to make me get stuff done that was much more expensive and that I clearly stated I didn't want and she was making me feel like I was making a bad choice which honestly bothered me. If a customer tells you what they want, just give it to them. Don't argue with them and try to convince them to get something that's more expensive just to get more money in your pocket. Then the woman who was going to do my nails comes out. She was so nice, but so slow! I sat down at 3:35 and my full set wasn't done until after 5. That's way too long to put on a full set. Not to mention, it's $35 and then they charge an additional $5 for regular polish!! I've never been charged for regular polish. The woman used too much acrylic powder and made my nails so thick and lumpy they're horrible. I'm having difficulties typing this review because they are literally weighing my fingers down. They are also too long and I asked for them to be as short as possible. She cut them down and I said to please do a little more and I was ignored. The woman filed the sides of my nails so roughly it was hurting and burning me. Then after she was done all the filing, she immediately put lotion On my hands and the hit towel without even having me wash my hands and all I could feel was the grits of the dust as she was massaging my hands. Then I get a pedicure after that horrible experience and they put my feet in the water and tell me 5-10 minutes which ended up being much longer of a weight. The girl doing my pedicure didn't even wash her hands after doing someone else's pedicure right before me. Also, none of the tools were soaking in any kind of disinfectant at all. Lastly, the girl at the table next to mine when I was getting my nails done was dumping cheap lotion into another lotion bottle that was a more expensive kind. Clearly they are trying to give the illusion of using expensive lotions when really they are just dumping cheap stuff into the containers. I'm so disappointed in this experience.
