Went to get my nails done for a special occasion. When I went to checkout there was more lighting and I noticed there were bubbles on all my nails. I asked the lady why did it look like that and she said something it happens. As I walked to my car I noticed debri stuck inside the acrylic. Some of the acrylic were thicker than others. I was suprised because this was my 4th time going to this place. I was in a hurry so I called them to see if they could fix the errors the next day. The manager said she was with another customer and would call me back. No call back. I called the next day and they said the manager wasn't in until the afternoon but I would get a call back. Nothing. I called the next day and no answer. I simply wanted someone to fix their mistake. No drama, no money back. I was disappointed that they didn't even attempt to resolve the issue. Man at the front insisted I sit down at a service chair and my husband would sit next to me "in 5 minutes". 15 minutes later he sits my husband 12 chairs away from me! And then a different couple comes in and he immediately sits them together... I got a #1 my husband got a #3 and he was Done Before me! I am a mechanic. I work on cars 5 days a week. My hands are awful. After a ton of research, i picked Joy Nails & Spa to try to salvage my nails for my brother's formal wedding. I explained my situation and had an appointment set up with Cynthia. This lady did a fantastic job! I got a set of acrylics. I haven't had a set in probably 10 years, if not longer. I never saw a point due to the mechanical work i do. This is two weeks after getting my nails done. My hands have been covered in every fluid a car has to offer and then some! Oil, grease, coolant(antifreeze), gasoline, transmission fluid, parts cleaner (that warns NOT to get on painted surfaces), electronic cleaner and battery cleaner. My hands have been completely black with various car fluids and dirt multiple times. I have taken engines half way apart and put them back together. I have caught these nails on multiple things that should have ripped them off. I just needed these babies to look good for the wedding so i have not been careful at all. I have only worn gloves once and they ripped so my hands soaked in our heated parts washer fluid. All of these things are killers of decent nails but this set is holding up! I have NEVER in my life, even before i was a mechanic, had a set of acrylics last like these are. I usually break them off or chip them with in a week as i am a total swamp creature. Cynthia just kicked ass. She made sure i was comfortable, never cut or hurt me during the application process. She made sure all of my nails were the same length and shape and that i was happy with how they looked during every step of the process. She custom mixed the powders for the roses and assured me that we would keep mixing until i liked the color. If you want nails that will last and can be put through the wringer, Cynthia is the lady for you. Absolutely wonderful experience! read more

I noticed some negative reviews recently and I was a bit nervous to go. I received a gift certificate so I went regardless of negative reviews. I went 10 mins after it opened and was seated almost immediately. I got the callus removal gel pedicure and a gel manicure. I had two separate technicians, each technician took their time to ensure my pedicure and manicure was done the right way. A lot of time spent on clean up and care of my nails - they did a great job. I'm actually very happy with my experience here. I like to listen to music or audiobooks during this time but I did notice they were friendly and we exchanged conversation about the Christmas holiday, a positive if you are into talking to your technician. read more

The absolute worst experience beginning to end. - my appointment started over 15 minutes late - the nail tech was surprisingly standoffish & would jerk my hands toward her. Also the degree in which she twisted my fingers could be considered torture in some places - clearly there is a cut on my pinky from where the tech aggressively filed my nails. The person who checked me out graciously offered a $1.50 discount which does absolutely nothing. - half of my nails aren't the same shape or length - my service was ended by the tech squirting hand sanitizer on my nails (and freshly cut pinky) and a glob in my hand. Though the quality of the pedicure was really not the greatest, it was definitely rushed and considering I paid for an upgrade, it was severely lacking in what was listed, but she did do a lot of buffing out my feet. This was my second time at this salon, and I didn't like it the first visit, but my husband called and made me an appointment for our anniversary, so I gave it another shot. Service was rushed, quality was subpar and sanitation was not up to code. My manicurist dropped things on the floor and then picked them up continued using them. Tools used on me were pulled from cups/containers that weren't labeled "clean" so I highly doubt that they were sanitized. Language barrier was normal, but the ladies chatted amongst themselves the entire visit, making me feel uncomfortable. I'm going home frustrated and very unhappy. read more

When I first walked in you got the stereotypical nail salon smell (and boy was it STONG I got a headache) I had to ask 5 people do to the dip sns nails before someone actually did them. Yes ,I made an appointment for the SNS dip nails yet it seemed like no one was aware. Once I finally got someone to do my nails she threw a towel over pieces of nails and the LED light. There was cut nails all on the desks and floor..... being sanitary must not be a thing. Second time coming here, got a full set asked for almond milky white. And got oval very thick uneven nails. I had to fix my thumbs because they were going two different directions and I couldn't fix the underside because they were not shaved down. So it looked like I had white frosting under my nails. I had a busy weekend and work week. Showed up the next week at 9am when they opened and asked to have my nails fixed and they asked me to come back at 11 because no one was there to do my nails. If you are using class pass maybe find a different salon to try out! I like giving people the benefit of the doubt but this place time after time is so rude and inattentive to quality. I've gone in a few times to see if maybe it was just a bad day however the attendant checking in automatically is rude and abrasive. Getting a manicure and pedicure is a nice luxury to get however it's such a bummer when you spend a good amount of money to be treated like that. read more

Started coming here after a referral, after my 4th visit I got a text for 10% for my birthday. Got excited for a discount, did my normal French manicure and pedicure ($70). The girl who did my nails was so sweet, wanted to add stickers for no charge as a birthday gift. Did I want the stickers? No. Did I get them done? Yes. She was sweet, and I didn't mind. When paying the lady who normally collects starts saying something to her in another language and there's a back and forth (Rudely btw!!!). I knew it was for the stickers and why it wasn't added to the bill. The nail girl even said.. it's for her birthday (in English). The lady at the register sees my 10% text and then decided my amount isn't correct and starts major up sales!! At this point I'm pissed. I didn't need the stickers. I didn't need 10% text coupon. I paid the SAME exact amount after the discount!! And one week after my gel nails, it's chipping. 2 days after my nails.. my natural nail broke. Suffice to say, I'm never going back. Every nail salon can be a mixed bag when it comes to their technicians. However I have had multiple experiences with Joy Nail Salon that were terrible, and my last visit was so awful that I will never go back to this location again. It does not matter if you book an appointment. I've arrived on time for my appointments and waited over an hour for the technician to start. Meanwhile people walked in off the street to ask for a service and still left before I was done. But the worst part about Joy Nails is that the technicians are aggressive about filing your nails to remove a gel manicure. They damaged my nail bed beyond repair. My nail have deep grooves from where the technician used the electric file, as shown in the attached photos. Now the nails are brittle and sensitive, and at high risk for further injury. I told the owner about my experience here, and she was very apologetic and offered me a free gift card. I declined the offer because I will never be back here again. read more

I was hopeful with their large social proof of good reviews for Oceanside. I went in for a fill and pedicure. First off, they made no effort to offer me water or adjust the chair. It was very uncomfortable but I couldn't find the remote. I had two women helping who didn't speak to me expect to acknowledge the color I chose. They started the pedicure and I asked for heal smoothing services. They offered pedicure package 7 which was their most expensive and certainly disappointing. They struggled to remove the gel from my toenails and it was painful when they were scraping. The bottom of my feet feel burnt from the hot stones and wax. I was telling her too hot but she kept trying to apply it to the sole of my feet. The leg massage she gave was just rubbing my shins and it wasn't a massage at all really. I don't think she even smoothed my heels (see photos) which is all I wanted, I will never go back. read more
