I have been going to Samantha for about 3 years now! She has been cutting/styling my hair even before Glimmer opened. She has always done a perfect job, but now that she has Glimmer, she has had a real opportunity (along with Sandy!) so showcase her business skills and awesome styling techniques. I love this place! I like going there because it's a spot that I feel comfortable, more like I'm hanging out. I like to switch up my hair a lot... I've been blonde to chocolate brown and nearly every color in between with long to very short hair! Samantha and her team have been great at offering me new looks that fit me but are always up for doing something fun. I don't like going to places that let you explain what you want, but then they cut your hair however they see fit. Glimmer is always up for supporting different looks and outcomes. On my 1st visit, the color came out all wrong and had to go back for a re-do! 3rd visit I called more than 24 Hours In Advance (!) to reschedule due to a meeting conflict and was told that I had to pay a $40 fee per service to reschedule - a total of $80 for nothing just to change my appointment time! I have been going to Glimmer Salon for several years and will continue to go...forever! Samantha cuts and colors my hair and will always change it up if I am itching for change (which is almost always) or will keep it the same if that's what I want. I've had super long hair, bobs, brown hair, blonde, and everything in between. She has such a good eye for what looks good on me. I trust her with my hair because it ALWAYS looks good when she is done with it. Not only does she style my hair well, she teaches me how to style it so I can look good all the time when I'm styling it. I also used Samantha (and Sandy and Michaela) for my wedding. Samantha was awesome for my bridal trials and the day of the wedding was amazing. We had the salon to ourselves, she picked up food for us, drank mimosas and had a great, relaxing time. The makeup Samantha and Sandy did was absolutely gorgeous. They use glo minerals makeup which is light but stays on (you know, through your entire wedding!). I still get so many compliments about how beautiful my hair and makeup was as well as my bridesmaids and mom! They did all of my bridesmaids hair as well as my mom's. My brother got me a gift certificate for Christmas to Glimmer. I had a stylist that I was happy with but obviously used the gift certificate regardless. I was blown away! I was paired up with Mary Kate who I immediately meshed with. We chit chatted throughout the color/cut process and I felt completely comfortable with her. She was down to earth, funny, interesting and knowledgeable. It was as if I was hanging out with a friend for a couple hours. Her work was spot on as well. She did a regular half highlight and really punched up the blonde. The cut was also similar to what I had already but she managed to give it the right amount of flair to make me feel revamped and a little different. I tend to get bored with my hair easily, so I really like when my stylist is able to use their own creativity to make me look good- I'm not usually picky, I just like to feel good when I leave--- and for there to be some differences between the before and after. I really hate corporate salons, I think they are stuffy and impersonal. Glimmer is nothing like that... Glimmer is a small, up and coming salon with a great blend of youthful trend and natural technique. When I was there, the stylists were all around my age range and the atmonsphere was upbeat and CLEAN. The walls have pictures of the stylists themselves and customers whom the salon serviced so you get a "homey" feeling. I also (and this is more of a personal preference) really liked the HUGE windows in the space. They let in a lot of natural light and made it more open and airy. Lastly, price is moderate. For a full-service cut, color and style it was right on point with what I was used to (actually a few bucks cheaper). I, for one, really like being with the same person from beginning to end. No separate person shampooing me, cutting me, coloring me and then leaving me to do the blow-dry myself. It was all Mary Kate, all the time, and IT. WAS. FABULOUS! read more

Loved my experience at Glimmer Salon! I came in with a Groupon for a conditioning treatment, cut, color, and style. I'm an avid Groupon user and have gotten somewhat used to being treated like one. But at Glimmer, I was treated with tons of care and fun! Michaella was a great stylist that gave me honest opinions and explained everything that she was doing. After the cut, Michaella asked if I wanted my hair diffused or straight. We decided on straight, although I was a bit weary on how my hair will look on a normal day when it isn't styled at the salon. The straight obviously looked great, and to my pleasant surprise, looked even BETTER when I got out of the shower the next morning and let it air dry with no product! The atmosphere at this salon is definitely my favorite of any place I've ever been to. All of the girls work together in a constructive and helpful way and they are so open to asking and helping each other with any questions or advice. They all seemed like they were best friends and it was fun to be around. They ask you when you walk in if you want anything to eat or snack on, and then ask if you want water or a glass of wine. You feel pampered from the moment you walk in. When I was getting my hair done I had almost every stylist work there comment on what a good job my stylist (Katie) was doing on me. Unfortunately, I had the worst salon experience ever here and I've got multiple chemical burns on my scalp. I believed reviews on Yelp and now I'm sure that all the reviews (or at least half of them) are false. I wanted root touch up and ash-blonde tone for my hair. I explained what I want to be done very clear. Also, I showed them pictures of my hair done by another hairstylist. My hair look just perfect on the picture and I explained the way my hairstylist reached such a great result. I know it is a difficult task to work with blonde hair and I was very patient during the process of ruining everything I worked on for a long time. My hair is really healthy although I'm blonde for 6 years already. Actually, it WAS healthy before I came here. I told them my hair is easy to bleach. But they have used super strong product to bleach roots and after 5-10 min I felt my scalp burning. They washed out the bleach and saw burns on the skin. Then they tried to make at least ash blonde tone. As a result, I've got purple spot on my hair which they had to wash out. Now I have a yellow color of my roots and a lot of burns which I have to treat. Thanks God, they didn't try to charge me for this "service". But I have to visit doctor after such a "wonderful" beauty service. Who will pay for treatment? Me, of course. They even didn't offer to refund treatment expenses. These burns may be really dangerous and my skin will need a lot of time to recover. It's so sad that such unprofessional people are still in business. read more

I went to glimmer for the first time to get a hair cut and color done, and I will absolutely be returning. The price is more than just right, and the salon and atmosphere is wonderful. I was immediately impressed with the salon when I walked in ( which is located north side above the Starbucks). It was clean, cozy, and I was immediately greeted and asked if I wanted anything to drink. I had Michaela A. and she first did my color application and really took the time with me to help me decide what color to go with. The entire time I felt like I was hanging out in my living room with a bunch of friends. I have been to far too many stuffy, impersonal salons where you feel like you are doing them a disservice by coming in, and this was a complete opposite experience. The shampoo was a completely amazing experience. I got the best scalp massage i've ever had. Definitely work coming in at 8AM on a saturday just for that. When it came to my cut, I showed her a photo and she did EXACTLY what I wanted, explained how it would look, and checked with me during the process to make sure I was comfortable with the length. Mollie and the girls at Glimmer were OUTSTANDING for wedding hair and makeup! They came to our rental house (also our wedding venue) the day of the wedding to do all the bridesmaids and both moms hair and makeup. I can't say enough how much of a treat this was to not have to pile in a car the morning of the wedding, but instead to be able to sit around in my robe and have them come to us! They were very accommodating and professional, and so so sweet! The airbrush makeup and lashes were a splurge, but totally worth it! My makeup still looked flawless at midnight. My floral hair piece arrived from the florist a little differently than we were expecting, by Mollie didn't miss a beat - she stayed calm and made some adjustments to it so it would be exactly what I had envisioned! I went to Glimmer Salon after years of doing my own hair because I am so untrustworthy of salons. Melanie did such a great job with my hair. I showed her pictures of what I wanted and explained my issues and she worked with them so well and asked me along the way how I wanted things. I went from my long damaged hair to a mid length cut that looks so fresh and I've been getting so many compliments. This salon is very comfortable too. I just tried the new makeup line that Glimmer is selling and absolutely love it. It's called Glo Minerals. Price-wise it's comparable to Mac- which I have used for years. I love the loose foundation and the glimmer block. The eye shadows are easy to apply and wear well all day. My fiance and I had our engagement pictures done yesterday and I wore the makeup.
