I was strolling through Yelp today before heading to a New Year's Day walk on the beach. After reviewing Joy's, we decided to give it a try. Wow. Seriously. Wow. The ice cream was handmade onsite. The place had an ice cream parlor look with striped walled and old celeb photos. The staff was welcoming, efficient and helpful. The star of the show is the ice cream. They make it onsite. The colors were vibrant, and the taste was amazing. So rich and full. I had a scoop of chocolate almond and the best banana pudding I've ever tasted. My wife had strawberry cheesecake and eggnog. Prices are very reasonable for a beach community. And the size was enormous - not just large - enormous. You wonder how they make a profit. I'm a big fan of an ice cream shop on the island as well. Came here today after lunch to get a treat. When I walked in, I was greeted by the 2 employees. Young guy with like orange hair and the young girl, brunette and possibly Hispanic. So my friend got a milkshake and I got 2 scoops of ice cream. But first, I sampled the heck out of multiple flavors. I ended up getting cake batter and chocolate ice cream which was vanilla ice cream with chocolate pudding and some other stuff. The ice cream was delicious. The female, which I forgot her name hooked it up. For real, she served some giant scoops which you can see by the pictures. I was not expecting that large of scoops. Early afternoons here in Florida has a majority of the population looking for something refreshing and more than likely this refreshment includes ice cream. This little strip mall location is no secret to the locals, so expect to encounter a line out the door spilling onto the sidewalk most days, the line consistently moves forward towards the counter but those ordering are never rushed and most seem to take advantage of the free samples so it can seem a little slow which provides you have plenty of time to change your mind as you get close. The friendly staff here takes it all in stride and are very adapted to the indecisiveness and will accommodate your wishes no matter how bazaar it may be. It took me only seconds to make my decision while scanning the menu board yep banana ice cream and only banana ice cream. For my best friend and companion it's never an easy task, she usually only make her decision once the store employee is face to face with her and I'm usually as surprised as anyone when she announces her choice - today it was coffee on a sugar cone. There are two important things to know about Joy's Ice Cream Plus - the portions are humongous and the prices are amazing low. We have been trained to believe that more is better and in some cases this is may apply, not here my friend, only if you've been deprived you may want to get something other than a small serving, whether that be a cup or cone. I called to ask if they were distributing tickets for the PSL Drama show. Before I could finish my sentence the lady said yes and hung up on me. I called back only to be hung up on before I even said hello. Again, I called back to ask if Saturday tickets were still available only for her to say mam I am on the phone with a distributor and don't have time to walk up front to check to see if the tickets are available. Maybe you should let PSL high-school know that you will not give info on tickets so they can give a heads up that they will be complete jerks if you call them or say "i can't be bothered right now" instead of hanging up on me. You are the rudest person I've ever been on the phone with. I was going to bring the kids for ice cream while we purchased our tickets but I'll NEVER step foot in this place again. What a rude unprofessional way to run a business. I'm sure if distributing tickets was too difficult or resulted in your attitude, PSL high would rather you don't do them any favors. We always have a wonderful experience at Joys! Our most recent visit was for ice cream with my 6yo for his birthday with family. The staff is always welcoming and family friendly. The ice cream is the best on the treasure coast (imo) and we always recommend it to others! The shop is always clean and comfortable to sit down and eat! Plus the servings are HUGE! 5 stars for sure.
