Long story short. Downstairs A/C stops cooling. I have a pretty good idea what the issue is after looking at the unit (bad capacitor as it was starting to bulge). Capacitors are fairly cheap but can only be purchased online by normal people. I didn't have time to wait for a couple to come in plus, I needed my units inspected anyway as it had been almost a year. Called the week before, again because we were just wanting regular maintenance and had an appointment. A/C went out the day before the appointment and my wife asked if they could come a day early. Sure enough, room was made for us and was their pretty early in the morning. John arrived and got right to work and sure enough, bad capacitor. Whilte there, I asked if he could just service both units as I knew both needed some coolant. John took care of it all. Now, the most worth while part of the visit was the education (besides the fact that he did give me a break on cost, which is most appreciated). He took the time to give some great pointers on maintenance, etc. that I had not thought of. I normally maintain my units, except for coolant, but he let me know things that I had not been doing that can help quite a bit with the efficiency and lifetime of the units. I would have been charged easily $100-$300+ more with other outfits than with John based on others experiences that have had similar issues and what they were charged and they didn't get the education. I would also highly recommend JP Heating and Cooling. My AC went out on a Saturday Night... I waited until Monday to get recommendations from work... after a few yeahs and nays, I decided to ask one more person. Unfortunately he couldn't remember the company name, but he did call his wife and get the name and number. I called John at 9am and scheduled an appointment for 11am. John called a half hour before the appointment as promised and was prompt. He quickly checked the outside unit, then moved on to the unit in the attic. John likes to give the play by play as he diagnoses the problem, which is not just entertaining, but also educational. My wife and I have used JP for heating and cooling needs for a while, always with spectacular service and results.
