I enjoyed the beef brisket and sticky rice, and the crack sauce was absolutely amazing. I also ordered the wings and papaya salad. While the papaya salad wasn't my favorite, the other dishes were delicious and made for a great experience overall. I'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu.

Love the expansion from the food truck to this spot. I got several items to go. My favorite was the Lao sausage with sticky rice, so unbelievably delicious. Next time I plan to get several orders. The Lao papaya salad was pungent and authentic the way I like it. I also tried several to go sticky rice desserts. The banana and sticky rice roll was the closest to street food I had in Thailand. I would like to go back and tried more items. If you want authentic Lao foods, definitely give it a try. The interior is casual fast food.

Authentic Laos cuisine in Charlotte! I was floored when I searched on Yelp for Thai cuisine and found this taste of Laos instead. My first visit here was at lunchtime during the workday. The exterior is clean, as well as the interior. The ambiance is equivalent to that of a fast-food restaurant. The food is elevated. When I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the cashier. I informed her that it was my first visit, and she was super polite, explaining the menu and giving her recommendations. I ultimately ordered a broth-based soup that equates to a pho with thicker rice noodles. The broth was flavorful, and the thicker noodles absorb that flavor nicely. The meatballs had a great texture and flavor as well, and the temperature of the dish was piping hot. My nose was a bit congested, and my stomach was a bit unsettled on this particular day, and this helped. For dessert, I had a dish that had sweetcorn, purple, sweet potato, and tapioca pearls in a sweetened coconut cream that was divine. It was the perfect end to a great experience. I've eaten here a few times since and enjoyed absolutely every dish, including the phenomenal chicken skewers. Anything you get here is a guaranteed home run.

My family is from Vientiane, Laos and I can vouch for this spot. Fantastic food that isn't afraid of being authentic. I had the wings with the side of green sauce (forgive me, I forgot the name of it) with sticky rice. Holy hell, it was absolutely delicious. My sister bought their broken rice dish and took it home to Denver for her husband. We went here twice while we were in Charlotte for 2 days.

Cute little restaurant with lots of decorations! Tried other food options that I didn't take a picture of. Service was good but did take some time to get our plates. We arrived early in the morning so we were able to get the Taro and Pandan fresh and warm. (Come early they go quick) Loved the different selection of chips and Laos reusable bags and lamp shades.

The food tastes authentic and it's fairly priced. It's nice they have grab and go options too. This stemmed from their successful food truck business, and I'm glad they're doing well. The staff who we ordered from was knowledgeable, friendly, and polite. We came on Lunar New Year for dinner and it wasn't busy at all. Our toddler loved the food, so I'd say it was a hit. The reason I didn't go for 5 stars is the bathroom wasn't super clean and they only had single use plastics.

It was raining today and we wanted to finally make the drive to JP LaoFood ToGo for the first time and boy were we NOT disappointed. Food is superb! Customer service is what you expect from an Asian restaurant. The overall establishment is a reasonable size. It's fast food almost style but the dining area is large and can sit easily 8-10 tables Pricing was on point & serving size was generous! The side green sauce was delicious. We enjoyed the noodle soup, the Laos sausage meal with sticky rice, and lastly their amazing minced chicken plate. We left nothing to spare and overall spent under $40 with 3 entree dishes and drinks (ordered on a second receipt) We don't get a lot of Laos options here in Charlotte but I'm just happy to know we have one EXCELLENT restaurant. I also LOVE how they have quick meals to go. We ended up buying a bunch of packed meals to take home with us. There's a saying.... If you don't see the children of the owners in the front area or doing something at the restaurant you might have to ask yourself if it's really authentic. Asians are less concerned about how pretty a place is outside but more importantly the value/taste of their overall meal Grade: A PS: I wish we had one closer on our side of town but it's worth the 35 minute drive or if you're passing by near the CLT airport

It's my first time here! I never got to try their food truck so I can't compare that. I love the self serve selection of food on display. I really love their pork sausage and sticky rice! Their Laos papaya salad uses fermented fish sauce so it's funkier than the Vietnamese style. Once you order and pay, they will call you up and it's quite fast. They answered my questions as I'm still uncultured with Laotian cuisine! Super helpful. This is definitely a cozy hole-in-the-wall vibes. Family business feel. It's a bit far from me personally but I'd love to come again

OMG!!! JP finally has a restaurant!!! This is amazing!!! They bought the dead restaurant next door, so there's a ton of parking, a ton of seating, and bathrooms! I think they recently opened, so the decor doesn't feel quite complete. But that's okay! Perhaps you won't come here on a first date, but you can come here on your third? Because if you do, you will win major points because JP Lao's food is PHENOMENAL and the prices (though they have slightly increased, ~$1.29?) are so reasonable. So, what should you order? Get their chicken on a stick w/ sticky rice and green chili paste. Get their fried pork egg rolls. YOU WILL THANK ME. So delicious. So much yum. Do not be deterred by the post below. When I came here, post-work hours on a week day, the place was not packed. Yes, they had SO many orders, but because you still order at the counter, the food comes out in the same amount of time as before (~15 minutes). Hope this place continues to succeed and that they go NATIONAL. JP Lao is amazing. Also, like the post below mentioned, they feed the stray cats nearby. SUCH BIG HEARTS THEY HAVE.

We were in the area looking on Yelp for a place to have lunch today…read more ....Found this place and thought We would give it a try. My goodness, What a find...This place has it all!! Great dining area that was clean and welcoming, fantastic staff and some of the best Thai food We've ever had. They bring out this wonderful complimentary cup of piping hot soup with your drink order. We ordered spring rolls and the Cashew chicken lunch portion to share. Both came out hot and delicious! We decided while we live in a different part of the city this place is worthy of a special trip to come back. We will be back...Thank you for a great lunch!!

I came by on 6/19 and was sat with no wait at a booth in their bar area. The waitress was very nice and held multiple roles (greeter, waitress, bartender, cashier etc). After ordering she brought us out a complementary sample of some of the best soup I've ever had. The broth was packed with flavor and it had little pieces of tofu in it. I would go back just for the soup alone. The food was equally as good. I ordered the Cashew nut lunch entree that came with white rice. Again, full of flavor and only mildly spicy as I can't handle much heat. Served steaming hot and with a decent portion size. I will definitely be adding this restaurant to my list of places to return. *Sorry for the poor picture quality. The place was dimly lit and I was super hungry so I didn't prioritize photos on this one.

The menu is extensive, portions are generous, and this is the kind of place where ordering a variety of dishes and sharing family-style is the way to go. That's exactly what we did. We sampled everything from fresh basil rolls, crispy egg rolls, fried wontons, and other appetizers to curries, noodle dishes, vegetables, duck, chicken, and more. The basil duck was outstanding, the red curry was rich and flavorful, and the ginger chicken was another favorite at our table. Every dish arrived fresh, hot, and beautifully prepared. The cocktails were equally impressive. Colorful, creative, and well-balanced, they paired perfectly with the bold flavors coming out of the kitchen. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with an open-concept kitchen that adds energy and excitement to the dining experience. Service was attentive, friendly, and efficient, even on a busy evening. Now for the only downside: the prices. Basil Thai is not inexpensive. Some menu items are priced more like what you'd expect in San Francisco than Charlotte. The portions are generous and the quality is excellent, but be prepared for the bill if you're ordering cocktails, appetizers, and multiple entrées. Parking can also be a little challenging since it's located in a busy Uptown area. Plan on using a nearby parking garage and walking a short distance to the restaurant. That said, if you're looking for a special night out, authentic Thai flavors, generous portions, beautiful cocktails, and a lively atmosphere, Basil Thai is well worth a visit. Life is too short not to eat well, Charlotte. Get out there and eat your way through it.

She was very friendly and had our drinks filled. She was the perfect amount of outgoing, but not too much. I normally get a spice level 3 so I got the medium, and it was way spicier than I expected. Basil was formal, but not too formal, we went after going to a Blumenthal event.

A Cotswold Thai gem -- and save room for dessert!…read more I've been to Thai House before, but this visit was prompted by an American Airlines miles promotion combined with OpenTable points. Honestly, I'm glad it gave me a reason to come back! Located in Cotswold, Thai House has its own private parking lot, which makes getting in and out easy. I was warmly greeted as soon as I arrived, and the friendly, attentive service continued throughout my meal. I already knew what I wanted for dessert, so naturally I planned dinner around it. Priorities! For my entrée, I ordered the Pad Krapraw with chopped chicken ($17.95), a spicy basil dish loaded with chicken and vegetables. It was absolutely delicious, flavorful and generously portioned. There was easily enough to take home for another meal, which makes the value even better. Then came the real reason I had been saving room: mango sticky rice ($8.95). Oh, my goodness. Fantastic. The mango was cool and refreshing, the creamy coconut sauce was also chilled, and the sticky rice arrived warm. That contrast of temperatures and textures made the dessert especially delicious. Sweet, creamy, fruity, warm and cool all at once. I would come back for the mango sticky rice alone. Service was quick, genuinely friendly and welcoming throughout my visit. I also learned about a dine-in promotion where guests can purchase a frozen meal for $9.95 to take home for later. That's going on my list for next time. Authentic, flavorful Thai food, generous portions, friendly service, good value and its own parking lot. If you're in the Cotswold area and craving Thai, Thai House is absolutely worth a visit. And yes, I'll be back. Life is too short not to eat well, travel well or shop well. Get out there and find your next destination!

Alicia took our order, and I have to say she was one of the sweetest people I've met. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. We were offered soup to start, which was delicious. For our meal, we ordered the chicken Pad Thai and roasted duck with BBQ sauce on the side. The food was very good and definitely satisfied my craving. The food was great, but Alicia's exceptional customer service is what will bring me back. She truly made our visit memorable

I had a full-blown attack of the hangries after working nonstop since early morning, and all I…read morecould think about was Thai food. Naturally, I headed straight to Thai Thai Takeout, which has always been one of my comfort-food staples in Charlotte. Well, surprise -- the restaurant recently changed ownership and rolled out an entirely new menu. I was trying to order from my old takeout menu over the phone and quickly realized I was completely out of sync. Thankfully, the woman helping me was incredibly patient and kind while I figured it out. I ended up ordering the Pra Rahm Long Song with tofu, and honestly, it was delicious. It came loaded with steamed spinach, broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, napa cabbage, and cabbage covered in a rich peanut sauce that was comforting without feeling too heavy. The tofu soaked up all that flavor beautifully. I also ordered a pineapple red curry with pork at spice level 3. The curry itself was fantastic -- creamy, rich, loaded with pineapple, and really flavorful. I will say the spice level was pretty mild for a "3," so I added my own chilies at home to kick it up a notch. My only critique was the pork, which was a little dry and tough for my liking. I'm pretty particular about proteins and don't really do white meat chicken either, so next time I may try tofu or another option instead. The good news? The portions are generous, everything was packed nicely, and my order was hot and ready exactly when promised -- about 10 to 12 minutes after I called. Parking is easy right in front, and since it's takeout-only, it makes for a super quick and convenient dinner stop. Even though some longtime favorites like the satay seem to be gone, the new menu looks extensive and exciting enough that I'll absolutely be back to eat my way through it. Charlotte, there's a big wide world out there, and this is definitely a place worth adding to your regular rotation.

I'm basing this review on what I have known Thai Thai to be for years. I'm not sure when they changed but it's not good. None of the food is flavorful. It's all bland. Now it's been awhile since I've ordered from here but I live on the other side of town and had planned to order when I came over to this area. I ordered Pad Thai, Pad See Ew Gang Panang Curry and Thai Thai fried rice. I should have known something was up when a new voice answered the phone. She also had a hard time taking my order and the former cashier/owner had my order down pack. Now the new girl did try to make sure everything was right and even called back to confirm the order. Once home and unpacking the order I could tell something was up. Everything was packaged and looked different. Upon sampling all the items I can confirm the the chicken in each of the dishes is super thin and dried out. Kinda tough. The noodle dishes were also dry and don't taste good. The most palatable dish was the curry and that's not saying much. I'm going to do a little research but I'm pretty sure I will not be coming back to Thai Thai in the future and that hurts my heart.
