We had the pleasure of staying in CLT for a night and decided to try this restaurant. I had the best experience and enjoyed a great basil lime martini. Service was great, the waiter was nice and very fast. We met the chef and owner and we was very welcoming. I would definitely recommend going to Basil. Atmosphere is relaxing, quiet, great place for a date night!

Great ambience either if you are hanging out with grouo or a quite time catch up. Food and drinks are on point...service is fast...they adjust nice to your ask and have so many optikns to condiment food per your taste. Loved the martinis there and pad thai veggie... I personally may add more peanuts to it or give that on side but overall must try

Wonderful place! Sat at the bar. Quick service. Had a Basil martini and it was perfect! Basil fish with vegetables. Fish changes daily. Had bass this time. I could have licked the plate. Close to Blumenthal theater. Our new go to before a show. Can't recommend enough!

The food had amazing taste! We did the private dining room for an occasion, so the dining area was very quiet and calm. It was a little dark but overall it was a calm environment. Our server even allowed us to play our own Gospel music over the PA for our event. With that being said, we had the best server. She was kind, patient and helpful! My order consisted on the Chicken & Shrimp Pad Thai and the Strawberry Fried Ice cream: The chicken and shrimp pad thai was so fulfilling and it tasted amazing! I had leftovers and ate those too and it was still good. I did add a sweet and sour sauce on top, which was a little spicy but not overbearing. The fried ice cream was interesting. The breading had an artificial taste. Almost tastes like french toast but not as good. However, the ice cream was some of the best ice cream I've ever tasted and I mean that wholeheartedly. I would go back, just for some ice cream on its own without the breading! The bathroom in the private dining area was also very clean as well!

Not the worst pad Thai I've had. Not the most authentic as I'm in charlotte (no shade), and the menu offers pho (Vietnamese). But it comes with both chicken and shrimp (the real way to do it) Flavor was a bit sweeter than normal but is still good. Service was def one of the best I've ever experienced in the south!

I had a solo dining experience and it's was very nice. ALL of the staff is very professional and nice. Norm was my waiter for the evening. He made sure to answer all of my questions adequately. I went straight for an entree and drink. I order the Basil Duck and It Takes Two To Tango Mango drink. The duck comes with a side of white Jasmine rice, pun intended lol. I wasn't expecting the duck plate to be so large. I couldn't finish it all. Ended up taking the rest home. The drink was made well. All of the ingredients were very well balanced. I ordered the black cherry cheesecake for dessert. I enjoyed the fact it was black cherry, instead of boring strawberry. I feel that really made a difference. I'll be back ^_^

Basil Thai was cozy, comforting and flavorful! Located in uptown Charlotte tucked away in the bottom of an apartment building. It's small and inconspicuous so you might miss it but it's worth a stop. Their menu is small but includes lots of Thai staple dishes. We started with spring rolls and those were light, crispy and had a nice mix of veggies in them. The sauce was sweet but not too overpowering. For entrees I got the Pad See Ew which is one of my favorites and this one was great. The noodles were made perfectly and the sauce was nicely balanced. One note is that I would have loved more veggies in the dish since I didn't get any meat. Their prices are pretty high compared to the dish itself and ingredients which is why I chose 4 stars instead of 5.

I've had pad Thai all over the country...this was inedible. And to charge nearly 30$ for a small portion of street is insulting.

During my most recent visit, I spent nearly an hour watching a staff member greet and check on every table in my section except mine. She made eye contact with me several times but never acknowledged me or asked if I needed anything. Being completely overlooked while everyone around me received attentive service was frustrating and made me feel unwelcome. I brought my concerns to the manager, hoping the issue would be taken seriously. Instead, I felt that excuses were made for the staff member's behavior rather than acknowledging my experience. That response left me with the impression that this type of service is acceptable and that the issue is unlikely to be addressed. That's disappointing because the food and atmosphere are genuinely enjoyable, but good service should be part of the overall experience as well.

The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food served! I have eaten here many times and I have tried virtually everything on the menu. With that said, here is my take on it. Everything that I have tried has been delicious! For cold appetizers, I am a big fan of the Black Fungus W. Vinegar Sauce, Cold Spicy Sour Cucumber and the Spicy Beef Tendon. For hot appetizers, everyone raves about the Popcorn Chicken and I concur that it's very good! I really like the Frled Pork Gyoza too. For the main course, they have some rice dishes, but the main focus is the hot pot soups. They bring out a 300°F Stone bowl of broth (in an insulated pot holder) and the ingredients to put in it. You put the meat and lettuce in first, then the other ingredients and the noodles last then wait for "10 seconds"thus the name of the restaurant. I have tried all of the broths and they are all good depending on your tastes. The original broth is the bass broth. Then they add things to the other others to differentiate them. My favorites are the Tomato Soup (especially with Beef Flank) and Spicy Soup. If you like things VERY spicy, they can bring you some cut Thai peppers. The wait staff are patient are very helpful in guiding patrons. They understand that this is a new experience for them. They also pay attention to their customers eating habits. One time when I went in, they noticed that I added lots of chili peppers and chili oil to my food. That's when she said she could bring me some very hot fresh chili peppers. Charlotte is truly blessed to have so many great authentic Chinese body shops popping up all over town! I highly recommend this place! Cheers!

I don't usually like eggs in my ramen (because they are never cooked enough), but Menya cooked theirs perfectly soft boiled, and I loved the flavor the egg added to the soup. Both soups had complex flavors, and we loved them. The tofu was great--thinly sliced and flavorful, if a bit salty--but I am not sure I'd need it again. My husband thought his soup was perfectly spicy. A note about parking - if you can park in the lot in front of the building, you scan a QR code, and open a parking time block. (I believe Menya paid for a 2-hour block.) You then enter the information on an iPad at the back of the restaurant to validate your parking and start the clock. It was easier than I expected, and I'd definitely use this parking service again. And if you can't get a spot in the lot in front of the building, you can park on the neighborhood streets just one or two blocks away. All told, it was a great meal for a reasonable cost.
