My wife and I are new to the area…read moreand had several pieces we wanted to get framed and one of our pieces was a family watercolor we wanted re-framed since the mat had warped over the years. The original mat was also cut too tight and overlapped/hid content on the image. We all agreed it could be improved with a more open mat but weren't sure how far we could get away with before showing acidification from the older mat on the paper, artistic marks, etc. And it was agreed they'd call us to let us know what seemed right after they had opened it. We never got that call and they cut the mat exactly as it was (which wasn't great) so that may have been a failure in communication or note taking--whatever it happens! We go to pick it up and talk about it again and Liz was the nicest shop keeper ever and agreed to open it on the spot so we could have a look and sure enough we could trim back that mat and expand the image. We could do all that without having to cut a new frame, glass, etc. So we make an extra trip to work this out but so what it's perfect now and an extra trip for perfection is surely worth it. My point is not all shops will be willing to work with you and be as courteous as they are so I suggest you check them out. They are showing Ben Perkins stuff right now and while it's big it fits the space fine. Really strong, dynamic and interesting work. The gentleman that was there was very approachable. He was also very knowledgeable and supportive of this artist that was being shown. We were wondering about a piece and it seemed to have sold at a very reasonable price. As the person (owner?) stated, that's how you get the art out to folks.. make it affordable, this helps the general audiences to share it more if you can hang it on your walls at home, and spread it around quicker. Looks like they are going to have a "group" showing coming up so we might just pop on in again and see what else jumps out at us.

I suffered with it for weeks, dreaming of finding a new one. I'm working on a novel and homeschooling my kids from my dining room table. This is my command center and it needs to be ergonomic. I've bought a few chairs here in the past, and while I was sitting uncomfortably, I was dreaming of ordering a new chair. But after remembering how it wasn't very easy to put together a chair from a box, I remembered this place. I could go sit in a few chairs, make sure it feels good, throw it in the SUV and have a new chair today. So that's what I did. Service was friendly and present but not pushy whatsoever. As a design nerd, this chair is going to give me a dopamine hit every time I see the name Knoll on the back. :) At first, I went straight for the Herman Miller, but the Mirra seat was too hard on the edges for me--which I never would have know had I not tried it out. They had rows of this Knoll Regeneration chair (choose your color!) and sitting in a couple, I realized how many adjustments it has. I got it dialed in, fell in love, and rolled it to the checkout. Cheaper, faster, like new, already put together, supporting a local biz. Happy camper. Next stop? Published author! *Editing to add (didn't meant to gatekeep.) The Knoll Regeneration Chair. Absolutely stunning in it's comfort once you get it dialed in. I watched a quick Youtube video on the features and found the recline resistance lever. Perfection. The only person I wouldn't recommend it to is someone super tall who needs a very deep seat.

After looking on-line (Scottish Stained Glass, etc.) we tried to commission a Seattle stained glass artist to draw up a design - but the results were boring. Eventually we found Chuck Franklin and he was exactly on target with what we wanted and needed, after we showed him one of his own glass jobs on his web site. He drew up a design which echoed the example we liked, but made it new and exciting. Throughout the process he kept in contact with us to find what we liked and didn't like, etc. including sending us a packet of dozens of glass samples (we live closer to Tacoma, WA). All this and his pricing was lower than what we had been quoted by others. In the end Chuck and his wife delivered the 4 glass panels to us in person. A 100% positive experience all around and we love the work - it is the centerpiece of our house.
