    Churros original with lechera
    Alex J.

I was so excited to try this spot out, granted I don't typically give into the Instagram and Tik Tok hype, I had actually discovered this place before they started getting social media famous. But things happen and I just made it this past weekend. They are set up next to Tacos El Venado so I would think (and from reading comments/reviews, it seems others think the same way) that they would set up and start roughly the same time, maybe 6pm ish? We arrived around 7:30 and almost left thinking they were not setting up tonight even though an Instagram post from 45 minutes prior said they were ready. There doesn't seem to be a set time and it's understandable that delays happen but they should really give better notice or a better schedule overall. We figured we wait and they did get things going in no time, I'm not sure if it's a couple but a man (Jr I assume) handles the orders, sauces, ice cream, and the woman working the stand makes the churros. They use an old school churro press which was super cool to see and got our group even more excited to try them out. For $5, you get a good basket of churros, the menu says 8 but it's at least 12-15 pieces in the plate. I asked for lechera on mine while friends asked for chocolate, one with strawberry, and one had the funnel ice cream sundae with no sauce. We all bit in at the same time and had the same reaction - these churros are not worth the hype. Flavor wise, they actually aren't bad, but the churros are still doughy and dense, it seems like the oil is way too hot and they are essentially flash fried but not for long enough. They felt so heavy, also unlike what churros should be like as churros are typically light, airy, and make you want to eat a ton. Everyone also seemed to be on the same page with the lack of sauce, as it essentially soaked into the churros making them heavier and denser. The best comparison I can make is those churros found at Churros Calientes in Santa Monica or the Churro Man in the valley - the churros are so light, yet very crispy and the thick sauces rest on top and don't get soaked in. None of us finished out plates and me personally only ate 3-4 before tossing it.

The churros super warm and fresh. We got there around 6:30/7ish and there was no line. They offered us a free sample (we were going to buy anyways so that was a cool bonus lol). The guy was very charismatic and friendly. The great customer service was the cherry on top and would def come back because of it; and the delicious churros of course! Follow their page on Instagram (@jrschurros) to get info on hours, but typically you could find them right next to El Venados Tacos (also really good) on the corner of Victory and Lankershim.

i had bookmarked this place on my yelp, and ended up stumbling across it when I was purposely visiting the taco stand right next to it. the guy (i assume JR) was super friendly when we approached the stand. he let us try the churros before we bought them. I got a basket of churros with some sauce for $5. they tasted great, but i only wish they were a bit warmer. parking is on the street. pick up some tacos while you're at it!

What can I say this guy is full of energy so friendly, did you Rose are nuts too sweet and the perfect sauces and toppings family recipes. I can't recommend this guy enough once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to try this.

We were already in the…read morearea looking for tacos and usually go to stands farther west around Northridge or Granada Hills, so we figured we'd try something different. We got six tacos between the asada and al pastor, plus a queso burrito with asada. Everything was really good. My fiancée noticed that they were making the tortillas by hand right there, which was a nice touch and definitely made a difference. I especially liked the al pastor, and the queso burrito was really good too and pretty filling. I also liked that they actually have a big menu with the prices clearly posted. Not every taco stand makes the pricing that easy to see. The tacos were $3.25 each and the queso burrito was $13.50. Our total was $36.22 after tax. I will say the tacos are a little pricier than what we're personally used to. At some of the taco stands we normally go to, we're used to paying around $2 to $3 per taco, so $3.25 stood out a little. That said, the food was good enough that I didn't feel disappointed with what we paid. The only other small thing was the salsa. They ask if you want everything on the tacos and put the salsa on for you, while we're more used to taco stands giving you salsa on the side at the end. I'm sure you can ask for some separately, but since we were taking everything home and didn't ask, I just used some salsa we already had. Not really a complaint, just something I'd remember next time. Overall, we really liked the food and would come back. Since we're still trying different taco stands around the area, we'll probably keep exploring too, but Angel's was a good first stop.

That was a bit disappointing because I ended up paying almost $40 for two quesadillas, which feels pretty expensive compared to other street food places in the area. The food was okay, but I wouldn't call it especially tasty or memorable On the positive side, the mango juice was really good, and I enjoyed the outdoor seating it had a nice atmosphere and was a pleasant place to relax. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but I don't think the food justified the price

Of course, I had to check Yelp first, and it looked promising, so we gave it a try. I decided to order tacos... a little shy moment. I got two asada, one chorizo, and one al pastor. My friend ordered an asada and cheese burrito. My favorite was definitely the asada tacos. The meat was so juicy and flavorful. I also loved that they came with grilled onions, little potatoes, and a grilled serrano pepper. There's a toppings bar with all the fixings, so don't miss the pickled onions, habaneros, and especially the red hot sauce it has some serious heat! I also tried a bite of the asada burrito, and honestly, it was probably my favorite thing. The rice and beans were delicious, and they definitely don't skimp on the meat. It had the perfect balance of everything. The service was great, everyone was friendly, and the staff were vibing to the music the whole time, which made the atmosphere even better. I'd definitely come back!

She had mentioned before how much she liked the food, so I knew I had to check it out for myself. The stand is located in the parking lot of Circus Liquor. It's a decent-sized setup, and since we showed up earlier in the day there wasn't a line. I'm really glad we beat the rush because I've heard this spot can get packed. We skimmed the menu pretty quickly because I already knew I wanted to try the lomo tacos. I ordered two, she got three, and we shared an order of fries. The service was friendly and polite, and our food came out within just a few minutes. There isn't any seating, so we ended up eating in the car which I honestly didn't mind at all. The tortillas tasted fresh and almost handmade, and the tacos had all the same delicious flavors you'd expect from lomo saltado--minus the fries, so it worked out perfectly that we ordered some on the side. The fries themselves were hot, crispy, and well seasoned without being overly salty. They paired really well with the tacos. I'd definitely come back again. While looking over the menu afterward, I noticed they have a lomo saltado pizza?! I'm honestly a little sad I missed that the first time around, but hey... now I have an excuse to return.
