    Tropical ice creams

This is not your regular corner ice cream store. Jr's Tropical Ice Cream is truly unique. Flavors that you wouldn't even think of in ice cream you'll find yourself day dreaming about even days after you've eaten here. Flavors like Rice Pudding, Corn, (Yes, you read right corn! And sooo good!!! Like eating sweet corn bread), Soursop, Guava, and so much more. A lot of people who come here feel nostalgia because these flavors are apparently normally found in the islands. It's because of that fact that I feel this little ice cream shop is so special. They go out and make flavors that are not common and do such a good job; it's truly a special place. Not to mention that the service is always great and prices are more than reasonable. I always bring friends and family here after a meal for a sweet treat. Ti'll next time.

OMG! Where do I even begin. We were driving around from doing errands with a friend and he suggested some ice cream would be great for this rainy day so we decided to see what was around the area we were in and we saw this and decided to give it a try - honestly the customer service was phenomenal!!! The ice cream was so tasty and yummy ! I loved loved the fact that it wasn't super sweet or sugary! I love that they do autism events as well as my son is under spectrum they gave us a card for free ice cream for him, now that I know this I would definitely be joining them for the next time now that we live here in Florida. I definitely recommend this ice cream shop and will definitely return!

All the tropical flavors that take me right back to Puerto Rico. I had the passion fruit and tamarind ice cream. It was so fresh and flavorful. My boyfriend had the coconut and it was equally delicious. Our pup had a scoop of the peanut ice cream. It's a small family business and the staff is so friendly. The owners son is super sweet and always makes me feel welcome. It's a hidden gem. Beats out the big chain ice cream shops in fruit flavors. Paid only $11 for all of our ice creams, price is great!

Y'all, if you are open minded and challenge your taste buds, you must have the corn ice cream with cinnamon. I asked them for recommendations and they they did not steer me wrong. They were so kind and passionate and said corn ice cream is the most popular. MUST MUST MUST.

This ice cream shop offers a variety of creative, homemade flavors that are refreshing for these hot Florida days and nights. From the moment you walk in you're greeted immediately, are able to try multiple samples to find the best one and the customer service was phenomenal. The staff is friendly, attentive and make you feel at home. I ordered a scoop of Coconut Ice cream and a scoop of a Mango & Pineapple blend and it came in a half Coconut Shell. The presentation was beautiful and the ice cream was creamy and delicious. I was also lucky enough to try a Malta Milkshake, Avacado Ice Cream, Mango Ice Cream with Tajin on top and surprisingly Mofongo Ice cream with mayo-ketchup drizzled on top with pork rind crumbles to seal the deal. Was definitely an interesting flavor and a popular one at that. A must try!

Tropical vibes brought to you by three scoops of delicious ice cream placed in a fresh coconut. . Many of the flavors blew my mind and I would have never ordered them had the owner not recommended it @jrtropicalicecream has THE CRAZIEST ice cream flavors Latin American inspired! They have mofongo ice creamand malta morena ice cream corn, avocado, parcha, acerola, and tons of fruit flavors you gotta try! People come in and out quick! Shakes are aslo a must. . The staff was incredibly friendly even at their busiest. That says a lot about a spot.

100% recommended. I've tried 3 of their flavors so far: coconut, pineapple and passion fruit. All were delicious. The flavors are very similar to the ice cream carts in Puerto Rico; the carts with the bell you find at the beach or the plazas. Truly brought me back to my childhood. Prices are very reasonable. $2+tax for a small is a steal for the quality and quantity of ice cream that you get. Their store inside is very clean and it looks like they're taking adequate precautions regarding COVID19. Give them a try if you're in the area!

CLEAN store, quick and friendly service, and a unique selection of ice cream! I originally was looking forward to having the same ice cream as shown in my photo at a restaurant only to find out that they no longer serve it. I traveled to Orlando out of state on vacation and was recommended to Jr's by a local. I absolutely LOVE any and EVERYTHING COCONUT, especially coconut ice cream in a coconut! Other flavors I can remember are soursop, pina colada, mango pineapple, vanilla, etc

Amazing Island flavors and the quantity given for the price is outstanding. Great afternoon spot.

I love ice cream! When I heard about this mom & pop shop I had to check it out. The customer service at this place was phenomenal. All of the ice cream is homemade and they have some really good classic flavors and some off the wall but really tasty flavors as well. I will definitely be coming back to this place!

They have a good concept and similar taste of memories of my childhood coquitos. I would go again to try many others flavors. The only bad thing was the outside line and it was very hot that day.

Creamy deliciousness! A great variety of tropical flavors, one more scrumptious than the other. My hubby had the arroz con dulce ice cream!!! It tasted just like the dessert we make for the holidays. I had the maiz (corn) sprinkled with cinnamon. Amazing. Reminiscent of the tropics. The flavors take you back to Puerto Rico. The owner was so hospitable and accommodating. She shared anecdotes of her parents and the history of the establishment. Definitely returning.

Great ice cream, very friendly staff, and generous servings. The place is small but, for an ice cream shop, it works.

It's a small ice cream shop located on the main strip of Colonial Drive. The bright lit sign stands out from afar. It was busy with people inside and outside of the shop. There's scoop options and sundae floats. We got the mini floats of the Halo Halo and a Mango Sticky rice. Both were so good and refreshing. We didn't think it was overly sweet for dessert. In fact, we took the team's suggestion and had vegan ube ice cream. We've tried vegan ice cream in the past and it was not good. This was actually good for vegan ice cream option. We normally share when it comes to desserts like this, but we finished our own. Recommend this dessert spot if you're in town or nearby! Seating is limited since it is a small place.

Both were delicious but the UBE stood out for me. This time it was not as packed and warm temp like it can be at times here. Ordered the Maiko Parfait in Ube : soft-serve with mochi balls, Japanese chestnut, adzuki red beans, sponge cake, corn flake, & agar jelly for $9ish. It was a delicious creamy not too sweet ube soft serve that had a delicious taste of ube. It was bright purple with the yummy-ness of this creamy ube flavor not the flavor im used to in filipino version ice creams. It had the mochi balls and chesnut - Corn flakes, Matcha sponge cake - Red beans, and jelly. I love this dessert. The interesting part of this soft serve - It was slow to melt! It was sturdy enough that when you take your time and enjoy it - It does not melt so fast unlike other soft serves. Would def come back again and get UBE!

Matcha Cafe Maiko is a specialty matcha café focused entirely around Japanese-style matcha desserts…read moreand drinks. We walked into a cute and welcoming space with a menu built around showcasing matcha in different forms rather than treating it as just another flavor option. The atmosphere is cozy and fits the theme well, though seating is limited and it can get crowded during busy times, making it better suited for a quick dessert stop or grabbing a drink to enjoy nearby rather than settling in for a long visit. The main reason to visit is the matcha soft serve and dessert selection. The matcha flavor is noticeably rich and earthy, with a stronger tea profile compared to many sweeter matcha desserts. The soft serve has a smooth, creamy texture and works especially well in combinations like matcha shaved ice, floats, or parfait-style creations. The matcha shaved ice stands out with layers of shaved ice, matcha soft serve, red bean, mochi, and Japanese chestnuts, creating a dessert that has different textures in every bite. The combination of the creamy soft serve with the chewy mochi and the slight bitterness of the matcha creates a balanced dessert that does not rely solely on sugar for flavor. The drink menu gives plenty of ways to experience matcha, from hot and iced matcha drinks to floats and specialty creations. Options like matcha with ube, matcha lattes with foam, and hojicha drinks add variety for anyone who wants something beyond traditional matcha. The café also offers coffee options, which makes it easier for groups with different preferences to find something they enjoy. The matcha lattes are well balanced, with the earthy notes of the tea coming through clearly without being masked by milk or sweetness. Beyond matcha, the menu includes other Japanese-inspired desserts like taiyaki, mochi-based items, and seasonal offerings. The combination of traditional flavors and playful presentations makes the café feel like a dessert destination rather than just a drink shop. The desserts are also visually appealing, with the kind of presentation that makes them worth taking a photo before digging in. The taiyaki are crisp on the outside and filled with a sweet red bean paste that contrasts nicely with the cold soft serve. Service is friendly and helps keep the experience smooth even when the café is busy. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu and make it easy to choose between the many matcha options, offering clear descriptions of the flavor profiles and texture differences between the soft serve, shaved ice, and latte options. Because the café has a strong focus on quality matcha and specialty desserts, it can get popular during peak hours, so visiting outside the busiest times may make it easier to find seating and take your time with the menu. Matcha Cafe Maiko is a great spot for anyone who enjoys matcha or wants to try Japanese-style matcha desserts. The combination of rich matcha flavor, creative menu options, and a cozy café atmosphere makes it stand out from typical dessert shops. It feels like a place worth visiting when you want a matcha experience that goes beyond a basic latte, offering a dessert that feels both authentic and indulgent without being overly sweet.

From the top of the swirl to the very bottom of the inside of my cone, there was not a single air pocket to be found. It is a sweet pastry that is soft on the inside and has a glass-like crunchy exterior that is coated with cinnamon and sugar. It's a little like eating a cruffin, but with a crunchier exterior due to their special way of making it. Definitely worth trying at least once if you've never tried it before. Overall, if you're looking to impress a foodie with something sweet, decadent, and pretty, I'd say give this place a go. The ice cream is as perfect and delicious as you see it.
