I'm considering raising a ballot proposition to rename the whole of Mendonoma to Junior's, since we'd be in a bad way without his businesses. Went to the dump -- the Gualala Transfer Station. Had a flat tire in the driveway a few hours later. Tried the 76 station for tire repair; they said they were swamped and could maybe take me in five days, which would be five days of lost work in my agricultural services business going to farms. I drove up to Jr's on the spare where they, too, were swamped but amazing Hank said, "A tire takes 10 minutes. Come back at 3 PM." I did and was out by 4 PM, after lovely hang time with Lola dog. Next day? Same thing. The tire behind the newly repaired one had a flat, from a nail and some glass. (Oh, transfer station.) I had a few hundred miles to drive the same day, and was on the hook for giving some coastal neighbors a lift to the Bay Area. Jr's came through on short notice AGAIN and all was well. We were on a vacation in Sea Ranch and discovered a nail in our tire. Not only was Junior super helpful and patient, over the phone he suggested bringing it in to see if we could simply patch it. (Our car is old and our tire size wasn't there due to the now uncommon size.) When we got there we were told that the nail was in a location that couldn't be patched and that they would simply just order a new tire for us and it would be there the next day. Sure enough the next morning we got a call and it was already there (which was so impressive based on how remote Gualala/Sea Ranch is). Junior and his team were super friendly, honest, easy to work with and despite the total monopoly they have on the area never once did my husband and I feel like we were being taken advantage of or gauged like a lot of other auto shops. A nail in the tire threatened the family vacation on the coast, but Jr's came to the rescue. Even though I didn't have an appointment, the team slotted me in first thing in the morning to get the tire patched and me back on my way. This super friendly team is also quite knowledgeable: when putting the wheel back on the car, the technician torqued the lug nuts properly even without me asking him to. I took my truck in for new brakes as the mileage was about right for new ones and there was a squeal when braking. Jr's said that the pads still had more miles in them, but that the rear rotors were warped which likely caused the squeal. I had the rear rotors replaced with new pads and the truck's brakes are now perfect! Given the honesty and excellent work, I will be returning to JR's in the future! read more

There ought to be a six star rating reserved for those businesses who go above and beyond ordinary customer service. Jr. and his mechanics worked us in to their packed schedule to service our car since we were on vacation, a long way from our lodging and home. After limping some distance to Jr.'s, we learned that rats had eaten some of the car's soy-based wire insulation and had chewed through several wires. While we waited for repairs, the sweetheart receptionist, Elizabeth, I think, offered to drive us to a nearby market for lunch. We gratefully accepted and treated her to lunch as thanks for gracious and professional customer service. A plume of vapor was escaping from under the hood of my old Toyota Tacoma after driving uphill so I called JR's. Junior himself diagnosed, as it turned out, correctly over the phone that it was likely blown head gaskets. And, that was indeed the problem so I made an appointment. The staff are friendly and helpful, will beat or meet on line prices, are not overpriced. They seem to carry everything you need from blenders to hairdryers, plumbing supplies, grills, towel racks, cleaning supplies, etc. If they don't have it they will order. They also assemble and help carry items to your car, also deliver. So happy Jr opened this place. Now I don't have to driver to Ft. Bragg or Santa Rosa. read more

My check engine light was flashing after leaving Mendocino. I was lucky enough to make it to Gualala! The staff of Jr's auto parts AND auto care center were wonderful! They diagnosed the problem even though it was closing time and worked on my car the very next day to fix the problem so we could drive safely back to the Bay Area. Jr himself is a very personable person and his team takes great care in doing the right thing & fixing your vehicle. Like any place these days in CA it is still expensive fixing your car and Jr's auto is pretty much in line with the going rates. Because of the lack of auto places in/around Gualala you need to make an appointment well in advance for most proactive vehicle maintenance. But if you have an emergency they figure out how to get you on the schedule quickly. Highly recommended! read more

This is one for the books. Brought my van in for exhaust manifolds to be replaced, was given an appointment date of November 22nd, and didn't get my van back until over 6 weeks later on January 7th. Junior called me ONCE two days after my appointment date to tell me "it will take a little longer" after that I never heard from him until 6 WEEKS later. I would call a couple times a week, and their receptionist Angie would tell me Junior would call me the next day or when he came in, and he never did. Eventually I just had to show up at the shop and try to touch base with him somehow. I was very polite and by then end of our conversation he was rude and said "well as soon as we stop talking I can get back to it" BUT when I showed up he wasn't even there to begin with. Two days later he calls me to tell me it's done, and that I have a coolant leak. I get there and start up my van and there is steady stream of coolant pouring on to the ground, the next morning after returning home my cooling system is almost empty. Any reputable shop would offer to repair this for free after having a customers vehicle for over 6 weeks with NO CONTACT. He did not keep me in the loop at all with what's wrong with my vehicle. I am filing a formal complaint with the better business bureau. Make sure you get a written estimate from this mechanic! So much was word of mouth he would be able to squirm his way out of a small claims court. The one star in this review is for the receptionist Angie who was very polite and helpful through this absolute nightmare. After parts and labor I'm out about 2000 dollars and more because this van was my only transportation and I had to figure out rides for over 6 weeks! And I live in the middle of nowhere. read more

Was travelling through town, far from home, and heard a rattle in the front end of my Wrangler. Stopped in just for piece of mind, but still worried it might be a big project or costly so far from home. Turned out it was just a loose bolt. They didn't charge but a very small fee to hoist it and tighten it. I know I could have done it myself once I knew where it was, but they checked everything out for me to make sure I was safe to drive home. I wont lie that I worry every time I walk into a mechanic's shop... worried I might get taken just to put it on a lift and tighten a bolt. He noted another issue to watch out for and replace back home soon. They were all so helpful and friendly. I appreciate the service!!! read more

We had a serious (and expensive) radiator pump system disaster on our car over the past New Year's Holiday weekend. The only shop who could repair it was Jr's. They special ordered the parts and kept the shop open late so that we could have our car back to make it to SF by Sunday night. Though the final bill was a large pill to swallow, all was well and the car was running great. Fast forward nine months later. The radiator pump fails again and we had to get the car to the nearest garage to fix. The bill came out about the same, but we were furious that we had to replace and pay again for a defective part! I gave Jr a call to let him know our situation and he was on top of it. Seems he has a Napa Auto Care 'Piece of Mind' insurance policy that allows his customers to submit claims for work done that turn faulty within a period of time. Within 10 days, we had a claim number of a refund for 90% of our new bill! I can't say enough about how courteous and responsive Jr was even though we were 110+ miles away and he didn't do the 2nd repair job. I would not hesitate to refer him to anyone who is up at the Sea Ranch that needs serious work on their car, knowing that he and his team will get it done with patience, skill and professionalism. I have a bit of an update on my past review about my VW.. my husband left his car in the garage for a few weeks due to being out of the area for medical reasons. When he started his car up it was making funny noises. He drove it to town but it was hardly drivable..The only other mechanic in town could not make the car drivable for at last a week. So he took his car to Jr's and called me to come get him..Jr fixed his car in a few hours and did not charge him.. He told my husband he was sorry that I was upset with my previous encounter with him and wanted to make retribution. I am unhappy about the situation that happened with my car but this was Jr's attempt to correct the situation..I thank him for that.. read more

Junior saved the day! We drove up to Sea Ranch from San Francisco and our car battery died on the way. We were so worried that there wouldn't be an auto shop within a reasonable distance, but luckily we made it all the way to Sea Ranch and they recommended we call Junior. He was already closed, but answered the phone anyway, and said we could bring the car in the next morning (Saturday) on his day off! All in all, it took 10 minutes and was a very reasonable price. This guy knows everything there is to know about cars and supplies every type of battery you could ever need. The clerk at St Ores Inn recommended Junior's Tires and we were glad that she did. Junior informed us that due to my car (Audi A6) having 4 wheel drive - and the worn condition of my tires that I would need 4 new tires. Junior ordered the tires from Santa Rosa whch he informed us would arrive the next morning. We spent an extra day in Gualala but got a chance to explore this charming town and meet some of the locals. Our tires arrived the following morning and Junior had them installed in no time. Junior accepted my Ford E350 XLT van on virtually no notice and was willing to shift priorities to replace the upper and lower ball joints, rotate and align the tires, and repair my brakes in less than 24 hours. This was crucial as I am on a cross-country road trip and delays are not helpful. The work Junior and his team did was exceptional. The prices were somewhat more than I'd hoped for, but when you are in a place as remote as Gualala, California, it should be expected. Auto parts need to be shipped in and Junior has to make a living. I recommend this place, without hesitation, should you EVER need auto services along the California coast. read more

Our battery died in Gualala. We got it jumped and left the car running until someone recommended JR. We drove there and within 3 minutes they had the problem isolated and in less than another 10 minutes had installed a new battery. Highly recommended for the traveler. Total delay of trip: less than 20 minutes. Price was very reasonable, too. read more
